View Full Version : Photoshop or Photoshop Elements?

I'm planning to purchase Photoshop but I want to know which is the best version and most inexpensive. I've looked on Photoshop CS and Photoshop Elements. Is there any difference?

Photoshop 7 is the best, imo. CS2 doesn't really have that many new features. Elements would definately be the cheapest, though.

They both suck IMO, just use mspaint.

Not better, but it's workable. I've done decent sigs with it.

Well, you can do a pseudo-transparency by making the background color the same color as the background of whatever you're using it for. If you want the .gif transparency, you use Irfan.

Irfan is indeed freeware. Partly how MSPaint and it go good together - no charge.

And no, I started learning PaintShop Pro7 lately and I made it in that. It's possible to make a simple banner like mine in MSPaint, but it'd be a LOT more crude looking. I can show examples of some stuff I've done with MSPaint and Irfan...

See, Photoshop and all kinds are better. I'm looking to make great sigs. I have used Paint to make sigs but they looked horrible so I wouldn't want that

Legally, you can get a free trial of Photoshop.

And you can make decent banners in MSPaint... My examples:

If you're wondering which photoshop version to buy, I'd go with 7, if you want to shell out the money. I don't think elements is that bad though.. you can do a lot in it.

In my opinion? It doesn't even matter, it's not the program that makes the "sig" it's the person, so have CS, elements, 7, whatever, doesn't matter because unless you can make something decent, it doesn't make a difference.

I agree....

I have Photoshop 5.5, which is extremely outdated, yet I make good stuff. The only bad thing is that it takes a little longer to learn and progress if you have an old version or a less capable version.

Of course it makes a difference. A great photoshopper wouldn't make nearly as good a product working with Paint. And by that I mean it would probably look like crap.

But yeah, you got the basics down. Either way, I'd still go for Photoshop as it's definitely good.

Actually my first arguments came towards Photoshop and Elements then ppl started talking about other programs such as Paintshop or MSPaint.

I liky Photoshop will Buy despite the price
