what is the point of the pokemon having Nature's? and how do they help?

Different natures may increase things like attack, defense, etc, and reduce them in some. I'm not an expert on it. So basiclly it has to do with stats.

Natures give a x1.1? boost in one non-HP stat and x.9? in another, except for some which do nothing (Hardy, Serious, etc).

For example, Adamant boosts ATK by 10%, but decreases SA by the same amount, while Modest does the opposite.
