You're going to have to be a LOT more specific than that. You say you don't want the picture just cropped, but just "kinda dark" doesn't help a lot. ;/

Do you want the character cut out with a transparent background? Do you want the picture cropped around the character but just slightly darkened? Or what?

Definitely be specific.

When 50x50 is so small, you don't have to worry about bad quality stocks. =P
