I have an unusual challenge for y'all to create a moveset. Before I list the restrictions, please let me explain the situational use for this moveset.
I have extra copies of both Ruby and Sapphire. I restart these extra copies every so often to get things you can only get once (i.e. TMs, Legendary Pokemon, Masterball) or a few (PP Up) per game.
I like to start with Mudkip, because I believe Water is the best type for defeating most of the Gyms. I get Mudkip and then trade it to the Sapphire Version I don't restart. I then raise it to Level 27. I chose this level because if I go above Level 29, it won't obey all the time. This gives me a few levels to defeat the 1st 2 gyms, after which it will obey me to Level 39. From that point on, I gain Gym badges faster than it grows, so it's always low enough level that it always obeys. As you probably know, traded Pokemon don't obey at lower levels than Pokemon that trainer has caught; that's why I don't just trade one over. Also, it only takes a few minutes to raise it to Lv. 27. anyway.
The basic idea is to use attacks that I can replace in the game, so I'll have an "infinite" supply to use for each restart.
Here are the restrictions:
Any HM it can learn is fine.
No TMs that are really good and limited (i.e. no EQ).
Any move Lv. 27 Marshtomp can learn by level up is fine.
No GameShark/AR
The moveset needs to be created with the goal of winning "in game"; to beat all the gyms and to beat Team Aqua/Magma; it's not intended for BT or live battling.
Here's what I used the last time:
Surf
Dig
Mudshot
Watergun
Of course, it changed as it was able to learn level up moves, but that's what I started with. Can it be made better?
If you think one of the other starters would be better for this task, please post that starter and moveset, same restrictions, and explain why it's better.
Thanks for your help!
