Well, there's no rules, and I fealt this wasn't "gossip"
My local tourney area people
Edgar Navaratte:
Is a 24 year old mexican who loves to dance with his mexican hat. Although, he makes awesome decks and techs, if he loses to a certain type of deck, he'll make like a quarter of his deck agianst that certain deck, his main faulty.
Sean McCabe:
Respected duelist, also known for tech, owns a lot, and beats edgar on a daily basis making edgar slam his deck box on the cheap card tables.
14 years old ( I think)
Thai Buu:
Mainly known for owning in yugioh every saturday, is the 'amazin' azian. 17 years old, is tight with his younger bro barry. Plays an original RUB.
kevin, donte, and simpson:
Cookie cutter off of edgar and sean, don't think much, there like 16-21
So post your local people.
Also sean, can you post more about our metagame, I don't know much players and can't describe most as good.

Hmmm.. if u can call it a metagame I might as well
MEEEEE: 14 yrs old (B=day Sept 30)
Ha, I'm like the centerpost of our dueling area. It seems everytime I go, which is only for big events, we have a tourney.. Otherwise, they don't have tourneys(hence why I said if you can call it one). I've got made skillz, but usually don't use them in favor of originality (L@@K CC's) BTW, TeCh all the way!
Eric: 14 yrs old (B-day Sept 12)
I consider him to be a great duelist, though the problem with him is that he uses most of his money for YGO. He usually tends to love to run "Type" decks.
Woody:14 yrs old (B-day Oct 1)
Just got back into the game. He is a good YGO duelist so I hope he can carry some of that talent over to DM.
Matthew:13 yrs old(B-day March ?)
He usually only plays when I bring him to the big tourneys.. I usually help with his deck. He's got "ok" skills, but I don't think his concept on the game is as up-to-date. It's not his fault though, since he can't play YGO every weekend.
Ray: Like 13 yrs old
He's the local that goes every weekend. He's got good talent and everything, but I think he's likes to run the underated cards more than anything.
[/Insert other people here]
I'll post current meta...
Lee Sandow "Leet Sandown" -
Lee is a very respected player around Galactic Quest. He is known for his originality and natural leetness at card games. A mentor of mine, we've been buds since back in 2002, plaing Poke'mon at WoTC.
Jason Marella "Jason, Mack of the Universe" -
Jason is one of the older guys at GQ (32 I think). He's been playing Rush since the dawn of time and ejoys Burst Shot's and Pryofighter Magnus... and that *(&*((&&(* Twincannon Skyterror. Lol, very cool guy. He attended CC's back in October, 2005.
Justin Florio "Florio" -
Justin is a talented gamer. He always seems to find and build the most annoying decks to counter mine. I think it's safe to say Justin is one of the better players at GQ. Very pessimistic and optimistic at the same time.
The Fordhams; "The Fordhams"
Steven "Steven, "Your So Lucky", "You Son of a bleep" " - Steven is the oldest and the better skilled of the Fordhams. He is extremely lucky - topdecking and swarms do not seem to stop the kid. He is 12, I think, and went to CC's last year.
David "David" - David is the middle brother. he is 10, I think. He is alot more casual about the game then his brothers, and is also very lucky. He also attended the CC's last year.
Justin "Ninja, 2 and a half cent" - Justin is the youngest brother at the age of 8. He is probably the most confident of the Fordham brothers and the most lucky. He is especially lucky with the shields - and runs Holy Awe with everything.
Tyler Smallwood "Smallwood" -
Tyler is naturally gifted at card games. He has been around a while and is a good friend of mine. He is the jack 4ss of the group and is always making everyone laugh, especially me and Gracek. Tyler is grounded right now for being a mack.
Patrick Smallwood "Pie-trick, Smallwood" -
Patrick is much more casual then Tyler. He has a nasty habit of making weird, cracked out decks, especially one where he gets out Billion Degree Dragon out on like turn 6 or 7. He is also very funny and is also a good friend of mine.
Matt Gracek "Gracek" -
Gracek has been around since forever. Me and lee started seeing this kid around 2002, when him and his friend would come up and play Poke'mon with us. He is probably the more popular of all of us - everyone is always talking about or laughing about something involving Gracek. He has a mean poker face, and is also a good friend of mine.
Brandon Schmidt "Schmidt" -
Brandon goes to the other GQ location, so we see him at every major tournament event and online. He is also pretty dang lucky.
Andrew Phillips "Phillips, "...Man, it's Phillips" " -
Andrew was one of the original cast of DM players back in 2004. He helped me get started at DM and is a very skilled player. He got 3rd at Cc's last year and using a crappy deck at that. I have a great amount of respect for him as a player. He is definately one of the better players at GQ.
Josh (Forgot last name) "Cutie" -
Josh is new. He is also pretty funny and cool to hang around with. Watch out for his impression of " Cause I'm an emo-kid".
Jonathen (Forgot last name) "Jah'ten" -
Jonathen is also new. He is pretty cool to hang around with and is also funny. He is pretty laid back and part of the casual-gaming crowd.
Sean Coleman "Sean" -
Not much is known about Sean. he is pretty young, and he has a hott sister. Alot of the time he spends is with Matt Flamholtz playing on his GBA or DS. His has been around for a long while and is part of the casual-gaming crowd.
Matt Flamholtz "Flamholtz" -
Matt has been around for a long time. His dad has been coming to GQ for comics for a long while. I first met Matt back when I started playing Poke'mon at GQ as a freshman. He is also a casual gamer and is a Nintendo fanboy along with Sean Coleman, Josh, and myself.
Andrew Frost "Frost, Jack Frost" -
Andrew comes and goes, but is always great to be around with. He is a very generous guy with a competative attitude towards the game. He is a good friend of mine as well.
Sean Patterson -
Sean has actually been coming around on and off for a while. I consider him part of the original generation of DM players at GQ. He introduced Andrew Frost and is overall a very cool guy and a good friend of mine.
Me "Slack, Steven (My name is Stephan, prenounced Steff-in)" -
I'm part of the original generation of DM players in GQ. I've been doing this since March of 2004. I've been known for my stupidity and seriousness towards the game. I often look so far into things that I'll overlook the stupidest things. I am the only one at GQ without an abnormal amount of luck. I am probably the most pessimistic person at GQ. I am actually a pretty casual gamer when it comes to every-weekend tourneys and online, unless theres something at stake or I need a certain card. I had a chance along with several other players to attend CC's but couldnt go for personal reasons *Cough*Parentals*Cough*.
Anyways, that just about sums up our enviroment. We have lost several very good players but we a pretty good group of players who look out for eachother and always have a good time.

Comic Chest
Sandra: Duel Masters mom, a very kind and confident woman who shows support in me and the others. Christian's mom and our tournament organizer at Comic Chest. she set up a website at dmcomicchest.com to show off our players.
Mr. van Hoose: REgrettably I can't remember his first name, but he's Mrs. Sandra's husband and Christian's dad. He plays black/red rush, although admittedly it could be much better. A jovial and easy going man who's always fun to play with and takes a positive attitude, win or lose.
Christian: Kid has been a little uptight rescently. He runs RUB with Bolmeteus, used to always place top 4 but hasn't been doing so well rescently. He seems to have forgotten how to have fun.
Carl: relaxed and laid back, almost always a top 4 finisher, duels with a moral code. He hates hand destruction for some strange reason. He usually plays some combination of RUG.
James: Proud, powerful, likes to experiment. I don't know what style of deck he's playing right now, he shifts around so much. Usually my greatest competition.
Spencer: a fast up and comer who has worked his way up the ranks around here rather quickly. not always a top 4, but he places often enough to earn recognition. He often turns to the others for deck advice.
Jimmy: Old fashioned, light player. has had struggles in deck building in the past, likes having money involved in trades.
Andrew: corny and hard to manage. He likes to make jokes or go off on his own tangent. A halfway descent player, but needs to show a little more focus.
Matthew: We can often determine how long tournaments usually last when this guy plays. He runs a light deck built slowly on stalling, usually throwing his diamond cutters into the mana zone. so as if his matches aren't slow enough already, he get's easily distracted and may take several minutes to make one move.
Jacob: he has the cards, doesn't have the strategy. Playing the Crystal Lancer build that used to be all the rage about a year and a half ago, he makes mistakes on rulings and strategies fairly often. Despite his short comings, he gloats like he has none and sometimes interferes in other duels to lecture the players on how they made a bad move and how he could do it better.
I also play at another store. these are the players I meet there.
Atlantis Comics
Odion: This guy hates his own name, instead using the yugioh name given to him by other players. He is a very avid player of mono light, absolutely refusing to play anything else in competition. Although I have seen better decks, his is fairly good competition.
Alex: likes to be obnoxious and an annoyance, he prefers mono water with a buttload of unblockables. Also fairly good competition.
David: doesn't play often, but when he does he plays light/dark with Mongrel Man and Mist Rias. He feels that light dark is all one needs to know to know his strengths, and feels that his deck needs no improving despite constant proof otherwise. Nice guy overall, but resistant to change.
Jason: an almost overly confident collector of cards. He likes playing cards in his deck that typically most people feel are worthless and always plays green/black. He believes that the element of surprise in playing non-mainstream cards gives him an edge.
Jordan: The local sleeze. He likes to find ways to cheat or bend the rules in his favor without getting in trouble. He plays using decks he borrowed from another player. he doesn't own his own deck. fortunately the decks he borrow usually don't place very high, so this cheater has never made first place.
John: the DM card Guru. he is into collecting all the cards, especially those that are promo or of exceedingly high value. he collects bronze-arm tribe by the hundreds. He's a hard guy to trade with, and although he builds multiple decks, they all pack a number of heavy creatures that really aren't necessary and slow the deck down to a point of being little competition. His arguement to this is that they weren't meant to be competitive decks anyway. Just for fun.
Ronny: a close friend of mine. After losing his deck he got new cards from John and built with my help and deck ideas. Although his deck mimicks mine in most respects, he will not admit to ever getting help from anyone but John. He's a proud person who will claim the credit for something if it makes him look good and people don't know otherwise. He's not perfect, but he's my friend. His deck usually does very well.
Amber: my sister, and one of the most depressing duelists I know. she plays with the attitude that she'll lose, and throws a temper tantrum whenever I face her and win. Despite her attitude, however, she is one of the better players in my meta, and will listen to my deck advice which more often than not improves her deck a great deal.
Myself: I play with a no holds barred style, using a RUB deck built to my own liking. I give credit to Mrs. Sandra for helping me decide on my finisher.at Atlantis Comics I have an ill earned reputation of being ruthless, mean, and a poor sport. They don't like my no holds barred play style, saying it scares of new players. My belief is that playing them as I would play the toughest competition should be considered an honor, while going easy on them should be considered an insult, and that going easy on them gives them a false sense of the level of competition. At Comic Chest I'm one of the guys, often sharing deck ideas and trading.

Hey Pogi, which one in that picture is you? Just curious. ;)
Anywayz, I'll list some......
Lee Parker: Amazing player, who always runs something new and always Top 4s with it. He has flattened me on most occasions with BUGy, Mono Dark Ghosts (when I was not very good,) RUB, Survivors. He came 3rd at UK Nationals, and now hates Petrova.
Chris Parker: Second part of the amazing Parker bros. I dont know as much about Chris, although like his brother he likes to play tough, down-to-earth decks, for example playing Aggro RUB over Pure RUB. He came 2nd at UK Nats, securing the Parkers reputation as probably the best players in the UK.
Lee Abrahams: An excellent player who against me currently goes 2-2 for matches, he can always get out of a tight spot using good ol' Phal and Thrash recursion. he came 7th at the UK Nats, and currently prefers to use Phal Control.
Daniel Smith: Good friend of Lee A, who only ever plays decks built the night before with his trusted pal, and with his trusted pal's trusted cards. He prefers to play aggro decks for as far as what I have seen, and head to head we have gone 1-1 so far.
Chris Leeson: Another player who likes to fly up in the dizzying heights of uber jank and Phal recursion. Haven't seen him too much, but I know that he lost out at Nats by simply going too janky.
Rob Denton: Prolific Light player who hates Corile, and loves Petrova. He plays very good unorthodox Control decks using mostly Light, Fire and Darkness. You would think this would be easy to exploit with Hand Discard, but not when you hit a Dava Torey.
Me: Well, I have gotten alot better so I guess its safe to add me......Recently I have been seeing alot more Top 4, since as I used to suck.:D
Zaheem Mushtaq: Great friend of mine, one of the few who goes down to Patriot every week with me. Used to play a quite predictable Nature Beatsfolk, but now can catch me off-guard with a tricky Liquid Beast he built with Pally.
Wakas Hussain: Zaheem's bro, plays a fun weenie burn deck with Rock Beasts, Crimson Hammer, Searing Wave, Beastfolk, Mana Accel etc.

Meta Region:
Southern IL & Eastern MO
Store's Decks:
For the last 5 months my store has had the bulk of players running Aggro-Control decks with various combinations of all the civs from 2-4. As such, one usually places top 4. Also, most Control and Combo-Control decks here incorporate Light; and our Phal Controls use any of the civs. Once PET becomes more circulated, I'm sure it will pop up in many decks here. Funny thing--at big events we get many female players and nearly all of us run Control. Last Invi saw two females in top 4, Pam Albin (who plays in same meta as #2 at NACC John Askren) and myself. So, da females kick major butt here. :)
Store's Players:
Mark
Mark is a very skilled player. Plus, he is hard to read because he has THE poker face. He was once a drill sargent, and is an good marksman. So, there is no reading his emotions during serious play. He is the nicest guy tho, and keeps the environment friendly and orderly. Really, our store doesn't have bad apples because of Mark (and the owners). We just tell kids who come in rowdy or rude to "duel Mark" because his stoic nature starts to scare them at some point or make them lose interest in trying to harass ppl. Plus, they end up learning how to play better. I think he could do well nationally...we'll see if he ever manages to get out of our store, lol. Lately, he uses a 5 civ deck with the Forbos, Phal, Cryptic & Terahorn, and tech. He qualified for the NACC, but didn't go because his son didn't qualify. He has a long history in TCGs, big on Warhammer and DM. He is my biggest worry, especially since he's the mirror match at times. One of our store's best.
signature creatures: Crystal Lancer & Forbos, Sanctum Guardian
signature spell: Lost Soul
Daniel
He's Mark's son, and is a major Rush to Aggro player. He only plays mono-Fire, tho he says PET might make him run Light. For him to even consider playing a non-Fire deck made us go into shock, lol. Seriously, this kid has played mono-Fire since the dawn of time. He is a player who runs creatures he likes over keeping his decks tight. His goal is to have fun, but he shouldn't be underestimated because of that casual predisposition--he has a caculating little mind. He also makes me laugh the most, saying the goofiest stuff during duels. Once he gets out of the Timmy phase he should do well again because the skills are there.
signature creatures: Pyrofighter Magnus & Deadly Fighter Braid Claw
signature spell: Comet Missile
William
William plays mostly mono decks, but moved to DF Aggro-Control last time I dueled him. His choice of decks and card choices really keep him from doing well at our store. He qualified for the NACC, but did so at a different store. He competed at the NACC with mono-Water, but didn't make a dent. He's improving tho, so he just has to get the deckbuilder skills to match his ability to play. He's on the grumpy side, even when he wins. But, not the kind of grump that keeps you from liking him...sometimes, lol.
signature creatures: Ballom, Master of Death & Alcadeias, Lord of Spirits
signture spell: Terror Pit
Donnie
Donnie is a Magic player who I prompted to play DM by giving him a deck and some cards. He likes Combo-Control decks with Future Slash and recursion tech. He is our store's biggest Cryptic Totem player, but like Mark and myself, he runs decks with Forbos & Phal too. I think Donnie could do well nationally if he moves away from the wacky combo play...we'll have so see. He had this weird obssession with running Charmilia (the Magic players at my store who dabble in DM tend to think it's lovely). He was able to use Charmilia a lot here because our meta is Aggro-y and he ran blockers. He is one of two players who has made me deck out, other was #4 at NACC Robert, which has only happened twice.
signature creatures: Cryptic Totem & Charmilia, the Enticer
signature spell: Future Slash
Jim
For months he would come and place dead last in every format. But, he never let that get to him. I swear that I've never seen anyone lose as much as Jim did and still enjoy a game as much as he does. That's heart. He came back for more, each time doing something new and a little bit better with his decks. Now, he's making strides. Jim's bit is the weird and random, but ever so often he'll place top 4 with his decks like he did at the Stomp 5 civ'er. He also became much better at Sealed and Draft, placing top 4 in recent release events. His determination to improve and to try new things keeps him unpredictable. We never have any idea what he will play, good or bad.
signature creatures: Twin Cannon Skyterror & Essence Elf
signature spell: Soul Gulp
Randy
Randy mostly plays Aggro-Control decks, and usually techs against Mark and me, as he considers us his main competition. He's a pleasant duelist, and does well when he doesn't play a deck he built 20 minutes before the tourney. Plus, he's very good at Draft. He qualified for the NACC. Unfortunately, as our store is so Aggro-y, when he came to the NACC he had just moved up to the 15+ bracket and didn't make a dent at the event. But, he's making strides and is a good duelist.
signature creatures: Crystal Lancer & Twin-Cannon Skyterror
signature spell: Mana Nexus
Jordan
Jordan was one of those kids who came in rowdy and trash-talking from the get-go. So, we had him duel Mark and myself so he'd get pwned and stop trash talking, lol. He's the WFy Paladin Aggro player at our store. Sometimes he does well with Pally Aggro, but he keeps doing some random and weird stuff with it that numbs down the focus of the deck. His mouth gets him into trouble at times, not out of hand tho, but he has shown some almost Jim-like improvement in terms of playing skills. Still, he is the player most likely to run something another person built, ask you to build him a deck, or beg you to let him borrow one of your spare decks. But, that's mostly because he is just gaining the confidence to build a different deck on his own. Once he gains that grounding and calms down to think out his plays he should become solid.
signature creatures: Crystal Paladin and Pyrofighter Magnus
signature spell: Holy Awe
David #1
He doesn't come as often as the rest of the regulars. He runs Aggro to Aggro-Control decks, usually something with Fire & Nature. He has playing skills, but his decks try to do too much. He's very funny, and really hates our Phal decks since he doesn't run recursion and we slash the heck out of his speed attackers and fat. He likes to tech creatures with Light and Water Stealth.
signature creatures: Pyrofighter Magnus and Twin-Cannon Skyterror
signature spell: Dimension Gate
Zach
Zach used to play a lot, and when he did he placed high at a Regional and several of our locals. He plays Aggro-Control decks. Now, when Zach shows it's usually at things like T5Cs. He is our biggest Survivor player, and made a dent with an Eruption-based mana destruction deck back when Survivors released.
signature creatures: Survivors
signature spell: Catalcysmic Eruption
David #2
Another player who I got into the game by giving him cards and a deck. He started with LND combo decks, and did okay with them. He played DWF Merfolk last time he dueled and placed top 4. Doesn't play often, but is a good duelist.
signature creatures: Bazagazeal Dragon & Illusionary Merfolk
signature spell: Searing Wave
Christina
You know me. But, here's something you might not know: I giggle way too much before a duel, during a duel, and in-between duels. :) Also, my favorite food is Sushi. Washabi is da kine bomb.
signature creatures: Phal Eega, Dawn Guardian & Forbos, Sanctum Guardian Q signature spell: Apocalypse Vise
There are other people, like the owners, ppl who come like once a month, and the Northern IL crew who come to the Regionals like Sniper989.

So this is how my teammates are like? Right? Kewl Kewl.
Dueling Grounds
Adam-an azn dude. Plays R/U/B
Micheal-a white dude who plays beatdown speed attackers
Chris-another azn dude, plays mono-darkness
Curtis-My new teacher. Plays CC.
Keiron Husbands, the Great(ME!!!)-Bolly+Bolmeteus set-up deck. Is really great.
Adam Tanaka-Plays some freaky-ass OCG jank. Scares my when he drops his proxy Pheonix.
Oceanna Husbands-Another of the infamous Husbands. Plays mono-water, which matches with her name.
Natasha Husbands-another infamous one. Plays Demon Command and R/U/B. Best of the Husbands. Oldest sister of Keiron, the great.
Kamesha Husbands-Second eldest sister of the great. Not a very hot player. And is a lesbian, so all the guys like her. R/U/B
Nadia Husbands-mostly into Neopets. On level with her brother, the great. Plays R/U/B
Kitera Husbands-learning from under her brother, the great, and her sister, the not so great.
Kareem Elzine-The best of the Husbands and Elzines family. Cousin to the great, and not so great. Runs Beast Folk variant every week.
Matthew-a white guy that plays Phal Eega.
Kareem Elzine II-plays S/T deck. Actually, not so great, but top 4's alot.
Syrus-Best duelest @ Grounds. Plays Phal Eega/bounce. Tourney wins=41
Chazz-second best. Even though he's confined to a wheelchair, he does his best to get to the store and play hard and often. Spins a mono-blue deck.
Liza-Another girl at our store. Not so good. Plays Daimond Cutter
And about 5 other black and azn guys. And 3 white guys. Might update list laterz, but I'm really lazy now.

Hmmm.....what's your real name Pogi? :D
Psssst....It's Sean Castor
I went to Atlantis Comics once.
I recognize 3 of the people he described in that list. Was/is John a judge, pogi? I just keep thinking that a judge a a buttload of bronze arm tribes... I also remember the obnoxious kid with mono water:) (unless you guys got another one)
Pogiforce-14
02-10-2006, 05:00 PM
Yes, John is the judge. Though we rarely have enough tournaments for him to be called one, and since he's competing in the 5 civs tomorrow, he can't be a judge then. That annoying Kid you mentioned running water could have been either Jordan or Alex, as at the time they were both running water, and they are both annoying. Jordan is just annoying because he likes to cheat.

I remember someone tapping my card while I wasn't looking at that store(primarily the reason I'm not going there ever again). He played a really crappy nature deck and I played a really crappy B/U deck. I actually can remember some of the people from there so:
John(apparently)
A judge for the stomp 5 civs. He was a nice guy but creeped me out when I first came in. I was sorry I didn't bring my bronze arm tribes.
Odion
Nice guy, I had no idea how to register for a tournament at the time and he helped. He also was at MD once.
Some dude(used b/u as well)
Made his deck before the tournament with John's cards so we started almost an hour late. I'll remember that one.
Mono nature kid
Was an a-hole about winning and he tapped the horrid worm that was about to win the match when I sneezed. He told me it was alreay tapped and I was about to jump on the table and beat the crap out of him.
Kid with crystal lancer deck
Also an a-hole about winning.
Sean Castor
Turned down duels from the little kid(me) that offered them(I was about 6 inches shorter than I am now at that 5 civs). No one ever wants to duel little kids who couldn't get cards at the time(Unlike now when I could fill my mattress with cards). Yay parenthesis again...
