Personally, I've long thought that XYZ is a more viable monster than VWXYZ, simply because it's that much easier to summon. That said, the discard cost is probably what makes the biggest problem for XYZ's playability. Obviously, including a trio of Thunder Dragons gives you an option, but how about including Ojamagic and the Ojamas as discard fodder? 4 discards for the price of one, that's probably enough to completely clear out your opponent's field. Of course, the obvious possible problem is that you could easily end up with a lot of dead draws, in the form of the Ojama pieces.

its an interesting idea and one that iv considered in the past
the main problem is that without there being much card draw you will end up with the ojamas as dead cards so maybe main deck some reload and lucky mallet when it comes out

That says it all right there. I agree with you though that VWXYZ require a much more intensive and thought out buiold than XYZ does.

Maybe if we had the Mecha Ojamas... Then this would be more useable...

Mecha Ojama Yellow (IIRC) allowed you to discard it to get Union Machines onto the field in defense mode.

vwxyz is the better monster, because you can summon him from the grave if he dies, none of the other X-Z fusions can do this.
and if your building the deck right, with Front line base, rollout, and 3 copies of ReturnFDD you shouldn't have a problem getting him out.
and his effect is game shattering, unless you run into removal.. then its not good.

True, you can revive VWXYZ, and not any of the XYZ's -- but with the number of cards you have to invest to bring out VWXYZ, once you do get it out, you're probably out of cards, or at least practically so. That means you have to remove and kill quite a few cards to make up for that investment -- and with the format the way it is, what are the chances of VWXYZ actually lasting that long?

That's not a bad idea at all. :)

One of the Main Characters from GX does the same. Manjyome Jun uses Ojama + Armed Dragon's or Ojama + XYZ, since both involve discarding.

Yeah, that kinda is where I got the idea from -- but does Manjyome actually use Ojamagic?

Yes he does. He also uses alot more Ojama support that if they were released would greatly improve Ojama's.

Well, well -- the anime actually gave us a hybrid that has some viability in the real game. With all the hybridizations that really need to be seperate decks in our game, that's a pleasant surprise.
