I personally LOVE this card and will never keep less than 3 in my deck but I don't get his effect much often, he usually dies right in the turn after or when he was summoned. It seems like he's only in my deck as a beatstick. I was wondering if people who run Skilled Dark Magician's get to use his effect oftenly(without Toon Table of Contents).

I used to run ttoc but I always got hands full of them(2or 3)
I use skilled effect in almost every duel.

It's usually me
My apprentice gives him a counterand by then he has 2(my opponent)
then i use another spell(nobleman, smahing, etc) and i bring him out.
Then in sometimes I have Dm attack in my hand too:D

I can usually summon DM with SDM. Though it's kinda hard, since the chances of you having 3 spell cards that can be played, are pretty low... (IE: have 2 smashing ground and a dark hole haha) Unless you're doing the TToC combo or something. No more pot and graceful :(.
Try Giant Trunade + Swords/Premature/Messenger.
Summon SDM, play swords, play trunade, play swords again. :p
Thats what I usually do.

My casual spellcaster deck runs 3 SDM's, and they're my favorite monster in the deck. He's a beatstick with no drawbacks, he has good defense, and the spell counters put heavy pressure on your opponent to destroy him instead of anything else you may have on the field.
Aside from 3 TToC, I like running 3 Big Bang Shot and 3 Giant Trunade in my spellcaster deck. I equip the BBS to my opponent's monster, and bounce it with Trunade to rfp the monster, thus giving me extra usage out of the cards besides just counters.

I pulled a SDM, I really wanted a Breaker though. I never got much use out of SDM as more than a beatstick. I didn't run a DM deck.

I had the ability to use his effect all of the time.
Then I desided to put in a Dark Magician and never got it off. Yes I was using it for the hell of it.

I use 3 in my Dark Magician/Dark Magician Girl deck and 2 in my Silent Mag deck. It's good as a beatstick even w/o Dark Magician.

Skilled dark is the main reason why more poeple were convinced to run DM decks:D

i run 3 in my dm deck.....ttoc normally gives me my 3 counters....but im waiting to see what the rulings are gonna be for magical blast.....i mean, if you have 3 in the gy, would you get all 3 back to your hand if you skip your draw ? if they rule in favour of that, then they will be how i get 3 counters on my sdm's plus put counters on the other things in my dm deck (proxied right now with a pile of cards from sd6)

I think it's the same ruling as Freed the Matchless General. Where even if you have 2 of them on the field, you can only search your deck out for 1 warrior, not 2 and skip your draw phase.

Or Last Will would be a more appropriate comparison:
You can only special summon 1 monster per Last Will used regarless of how many monsters were sent to the grave. You can however activate multiple Last Wills in a turn and summon 1 monster for each Last Will activated even if only 1 monster is sent to the grave.

yea use last will while SDM is on the field then bring out apprentice and use MST or HST and then bring out my DM to use for something else.
