So yea where has our lil buddy airknight, well i guess i like to think of him as a buddy gone. Sure i guess in this trap dominated world of multiple saks, bottom and widespread, not to mention all those lil removal DD's runnin rampant (but hey airknight would still get affect :-) ) runnin arround, airknight has been relegated to the book for the most part. Idunno guess i felt nostalgic flipping through my book. Yea, so anyone think airknight will see any play in the future, i really have not seen too many of these guys trampling, i mean piercing around. SO any thoughts?

Yeah, Airknight = potential for a bunch of cards but likelyhood of 2-for-1 in your opponent's favor (Airknight + tributed for 1 Saku, etc); Monarchs = guaranteed 2 for 2/3 or more if not immediately destroyed.

ppl say airknight lost a lot of playability.. but i personally find airknight always playable.. with ppl maining 3 reapers.. airknight is a king.. plus u benefit from the lack of drawing in this format.. in a deck with airknights and donz.. rushes and mirror walls fit perfectly..

I'm trying to see how Widespread Ruin kills him in a format where you should have Cyber Dragons and Monarchs too...

how often do u get both out at the same time? Unless ur deck is awesome or uve got heavy field control its rare to have out airknight and something bigger than it on the field. It happens, just rarely.

Poor airknight. I love this card but cyber dragon devours him and he seems to keep running into head first into sakuretsu armor/widespread ruin.
I'd love to see him make a comeback, maybe yellow spring frog will help but the monarchs just seem to be the way to go these days.

*If* Shrink comes to TCG, it'll likely bump out 1-2 Sakuretsus/widespread ruins from many CC decks since it's chainable to mobius, breaker, heavy storm, MST, Dust, etc. and can cause LP damage and destroy the monster if the opponant attacks and you have one down.
If this shift in the CC occurs, Airknight may show up more often and Jinzo will become completely useless.

Where did airknight go?
To better rephrase your question:
Hello Cyber Dragon.

I see no reason why our angelic buddy couldn't come running back. 3x Decrees, standard removal and the awesome tech of Rush Recklessly (Cyber Dragon Hates that); there's potential there.

Too weak in this Aggro format.
When it get's flogged by a select few level fours and decimated by most other monsters, it's just not worth the risk.
Same as Exarion. Not strong enough.
Without the big exploitation of Trampler/Piercers that the last format had, these monsters just don't get justification to get the go ahead.

Oh dear!
In my opinion it's not that Airknight's ability has lessened in power - if anything it's greater due to Pot of Greed and Graceful Charity but it was especially powerful in the old Meta cause of Scapegoat trample and the fact that it was Chaos Solider food.
Plus tributing for Airknight might get you one card but it's likely to get pasted by Cyber Dragon before you can get any real card advantage from it.
IMHO Airknight just isn't suited for this environment.

The meta just isn't suited to Airknight's talents.
It's not so much the new and heavy amounts of Aggro, though it is a factor, but it is the change from the more conservative play of the last list. Last list, Goats and Reapers were commonplace, so it made sense to try and push your damage through and have the potential for extra card advantege. Frankly, who wouldn't like such a deal?
Last list was also less reliant on Sakuretsu, leaning a little more in the direction of prevention (ie. BTH) and/or chainability (you know what I'm talking about). So, not only was the potential for Airknight greater, but the risk was less.
However, the new way of things brought a more aggressive tempo, and a reliance on things that can punish it (ie. Sakuretsu). Airknight's risk is greater and his potential is less, so people are turned off by the thought of him.

ya i do agree that this meta dosent favor our old friend airknight, the monarach just seem worth it, well or should i just say mobius. but yea i'm sure it'll make a comeback in the near future.
Yeah, Airknight and Jinzo were cards that prevailed with Painful and Graceful (and an unbanned Sinister). Scapegoat at 3 made it awesome too.
We'd need to see at least Painful come back for Airknight to see play.

u shuld go 2 an sjc with that deck, n t8 cuz i have tons of faith in u... in ne case, aside from quoting something as horrible as that, the airknight can work, sure y not, the mirror wall don build was workin well when matt peddle made it when the format first started, it just got eaten up by mobius. on the other hand, the cyber dragon does run over it. buh hey when u guys say sak armors and widespreads, all other monsters get hurt by those also not just the airknights so remember that.;)
