Speed definitely.

Last format I took on a Blue Eyes deck that seemed to blow everything away :/
He'd stall for ages with goat waiting for Trunade, Fusilier, Meta and Decree, before you know it bang, there were 2 blue eyes, dragun and a decree on the field lol.

If you can pull off two quick blue eyes attacks in one turn (by clearing the field then using say, Call for a Blue Eyes and Kaibaman for another) it could easily be a one turn kill.

I think speed is more important. But I'm sure you can try to splash both into the deck.

Speed is god in this format, half or more of all your opponents monster removal can only be used during your opponents turn, leaving traps which are vulnerable to any number of things, having a common decree available and in 3's... BEWD doesn't need traps to be competative, it does need some stall, or at least decent stall that doubles as tribute bait (spy's and reapers come to mind).

Other than that all you need is speed to win. - You have Kaibamen, Paladines, Lighten the Load in favor of Paladines and Heart of the Underdog in favor of Kaibamen, Reasoning, and Manju's in favor of Paladine, you also have the old school Lord of D. and Flute of Summoning Dragon - you shouldn't play that unless you actually plan to fusion summon Lord Dragun... btw don't - or you could go the propper route and stick with Dark Hex Sealed Fusion and Lord of D., in which case you'd want some Tomato's, Sangan and probably more Reapers or maybe Newdoria.

What do you mean by "summoning power". It would seem to me that the majority of the cards typically used to summon BEWD also increase the speed of the deck (paladin, manju, etc).

Regardless: the main asset of the BEWD deck seems to be the speed at which it can bring out a large monster. I'd definitely try to focus on that aspect of the deck.

Oooh I remember the days of extreme speed with Flutes, BEWD's and Tyrant Dragons. Speed is definately the most important.

Good point though - he already considers the alternative to speed to be speed >.<

Speed will always be King, if Blue Eyes is the Undefeated Heavyweight Champion of the World - which he isn't, it would only be better if he where also Speed King...

I'd say speed you don't wanna get stuck wthout one if u use a real BEWD deck...
