According to Janime, a new manga series based on Yu-Gi-Oh! GX will be illustrated by Naoyuki Kageyama and published in Japanese magazine.

I wonder how VIZ will handle this series in the states.

Poorly, of course.

Poorly, of course.

I wouldn't jump the gun like that. After all, VIZ did an impressive job on Volumes 1-7 of the original series, and apparently Millennium World too. It's just that they screwed up Duelist.

The only issue will be naming conventions. VIZ used most of the original names for the humans in the original manga. However this manga is based off of the anime and not vice versa, and apparently VIZ has less of an incentive to keep the original naming.

REALLY old news. The scans are up on Janime's forums and have been for a while now.

Your a bit late to the catch, the manga was released at least a month ago by now.

I also have a thread already started up on this:

GX Manga thread (pojo.biz/board/showthread.php?t=235278&highlight=gx+manga)

May want to try a search first next time.

He asked an interesting question that may not have come up: How will Viz deal with that, especially since the names are so INTENSELY changed?

My thought: GX Manga is so screwed when it comes to the states.

Maybe not, Kuro, but we can still hope. Even if they pull a YGO: Duelist on us, it'll be ok.

Hopefully the character dialect in the manga will be better that of the dubbed anime.. x_O...
