What's up Bam Bam, this is robjinzoloomis!!! I think that the best starter deck that I have ever used would be the yugi evolution deck. I am a newbie to the pojo message board but I have been dueling for about four years now. The yugi evolution starter deck was a good deck to construct onto but at the same time it would definitely pull its own weight in a duel!!! I hope this was helpful. If you have any more questions for me just send me a private message!!!

There are 6 starter decks and 5 structure decks so far:
Starters: Yugi, Kaiba, Joey, Pegasus, Yugi evo, Kaiba evo
Structure: Dragons, Zombies, Fire, Water, Warriors
The starter decks are older, and contain a lot of very bad cards including normal monsters with weak stats, a few useful cards, and a few of the old broken staples like monster reborn and change of heart, which are banned. They often have a number of themes that don't work well together, you're better with a single theme. This is where the structure decks come in.
Structure decks are built of cards that do work well together, and come with hints on how to play and improve that type of deck. Try one.
Its worth buying as many of the decks as you can to get all the "staple" cards that can go in any deck. Check out the spoiler lists down the left side pojo's main yugioh page:
