DBZ movie with actors?

Is there going to be a DBZ movie with real actors? If someone finds out please post it for me. I heard at one time that they were thinking about it, but they did not know who to ask for the parts. I thought Pojo's pics for actors were great ideas. The kids would love it if they made a movie, I know my kids & I love watching "Mortal Kombat". With this I don't see a problem finding actors...except doing their hair styles & super saiyen power-ups. Any way, please if someone finds out let me know. My kids would love to find out.

They won't have to worry about powering up and Super Saiyan, partly because I feel that over 90% of the movie will be done in computer animation. How else would you explain how they plan to have the people fighting like they would in the show, with all the lightspeed movement and flying stunts?

there hasn't been any news on the movie in a long time i searched myself i posted some info on the old message board which no one knows if its true or not and i don't think 90 % of it will be cgi they have to create a plot that has to tell who all the charcters are and how and what the dragonballs are therefore not much fighting.

yeah i also hear rumours on potential actors doing our beloved characters roles, now for some people i dotn have a problem with, for instance when i hear the rumour that goldberg (from wwe) would play nappa, i thought wow how perfect is this!!!!

but when i heard that orlando bloom (legolas from lord of the rings) would play tien, i said what do u they think they are doing, tien is huge!!!! they must be joking right?

then upon hearing that mini me from the austin powers movies would play krillin, i was like, "its lucky i love DBZ so much otherwise i wouldnt watch it"

i hope the make it good and not like xmen where we have a 300 year old magneto (lol no offence ian mckellar, u rock as gandalf but not as magneto, my grandad is more convincing lol)

as long as the characters look the part, thats all that really matters in the end

oh heres the "rumored" "plot" of the movie floating around on some sites i wanted to see what everyones opinions are of this.



The Plot: (WARNING: SPOILERS)

This Movie will take place around the Saiyan Saga.

The movie starts off on the Saiyan's home planet. Bardock sends his son out into space along with several other Saiyan babies in their separate pods, all heading towards a different planet. Shortly after being launched they are all blasted into dust and only Goku's (or Kakorot's) pod escapes and soon after crashes on Earth. He lands near a Buddhist Temple where he is raised to be a kindhearted boy by all of the monks. Years pass and the monks are unable to find an outlet for Goku's inhuman strength so they send him off to train with and old martial arts master, Master Roshi. There he meets Krillan and they become good friends. Roshi teaches them to use energy as a weapon (energy blasts) and all seems well until one night when Goku sees the full moon and transforms into a giant monkey, or Oozaru. Goku goes about his rampage until Krillan blasts his tail off and he returns to normal.

During that same time another alien ship crashes on Earth. This time it's Piccolo and he's carrying the Dragonballs with him. Now at this point Piccolo is one bad mofo and his only desire is to conquer Earth. By doing so he hunts down the strongest fighters on the planet and kills them, but little does he know the two strongest fighters are kids. Piccolo causes a good bit of damage that attracts the media and once Goku and Krillin get wind of it they head off to face him against Master Rosh’s wishes. A huge battle takes place between the three fighters and at the end Krillan jumps in front of a blast to save Goku's life and dies. Goku freaks out; his tail grows back, transforms into the Oozaru again, and nearly kills Piccolo. But Piccolo finds out his tail is his weakness and he cuts it off, returning Goku back to normal. Goku is out cold and it looks like Piccolo will take the win. But Roshi shows up and stops Piccolo from killing Goku. Roshi is ready to hand Piccolo's ass to him but he lets him go in exchange for knowledge of the Dragonballs. Once Goku awakes Master Roshi explains to him what happened and he decides to find all the Dragonballs to wish Krillan back to life.

Unfortunately Master Roshi lives like a hermit and has very little money and resources to do such a thing. It would end right there but luckily Roshi is friends with billionaire scientist and owner of Capsule Corp., Dr. Brief. Brief decides to finance their adventure and soon enough they, along with the daughter of Dr. Brief, Bulma, are on their way across the world to find the Dragonballs. They are all eventually found and the eternal dragon Shenlong is summoned to grant their wish. Krillan is revived.

10 years pass and Goku is now married to Chichi and has a 7 year old son, Gohan. Goku and Krillan have signed up to compete in The World Martial Arts Tournament. Once they arrive at the tournament they see that Bulma has signed up too. As the tournament begins and progresses the only fighters left in the final rounds are Goku, Krillan, Bulma, Yamcha, Tien, and a mystery fighter. As the final rounds are about to begin five pods crash into the stadium. In them are Raditz and four other Saiyans. Raditz tells his brother of his past and what he is. A huge brawl between the tournament fighters and the Saiyans begin. All of the Saiyans are killed in the fight except for Raditz who snatches Gohan and flies off with him. Goku and the mystery fighter chase him down into a barren desert land. The mystery fighter reveals himself to be Piccolo. A battle between the three insures until Piccolo finishes off Raditz but not without killing Goku in the process. As Goku lay on the ground dying Piccolo promises him that he will find the Dragonballs and wish him back so they can have their rematch. Raditz transmits this to Freiza's mother ship and tells Piccolo that his team mates are coming and will destroy Earth. Piccolo is major <pojo ownz><pojo ownz><pojo ownz><pojo ownz>ed off and blows Raditz away (cool). Once the rest of the gang discovers what happened, Krillan, Yamcha, and Tien begin their training with Master Roshi and another martial arts master, Mr. Popo. (Don't ask me how they came up with that one.) And Goku trains with Kai (aka: King Kai) in the afterlife. Meanwhile Piccolo takes Gohan with him in order to train him. He believes that Gohan could be the strongest one of them all.

Back at the mother ship Vegeta and Nappa are ordered to go to Earth and retrieve Kakorot and the Dragonballs. It takes two years for them to reach Earth and during that time everything pretty much happens the same way it did on the show. Everyone has grown much stronger, especially Gohan. The Dragonballs are gathered and used to bring Goku back to life. However it was too late because the Saiyans have already reached Earth and Goku must run through Snake Way before he can join his friends. The big battle starts and Yamcha, Tien, and Piccolo are all killed by Nappa. Goku finally arrives and quickly disposes of Nappa. Before he goes one on one with Vegeta he tells Gohan and Krillan to leave. They do as he says and the classic battle begins. Goku vs. Vegeta. Once Vegeta finds that Goku is too much for him to handle he transforms into an Oozaru and nearly kills him. But Krillan and Gohan are back at ground zero and once Gohan transforms as well it's an all out giant monkey brawl between Gohan and Vegeta (cool again). Vegeta rips off Gohan's tail and Krillan blasts off Vegeta's tail. They both return to normal and Krillan gives Goku the Sensu Beans. Goku is now back to his full strength but Gohan is badly injured. Vegeta tricks Goku into thinking he killed his son. Goku goes mad with rage and shows hints of something much greater than an Oozaru. And then it might have something like to be continued or something like that. You will just have to wait and see.

Sounds like that trailer was written by soemone without the lingual skills of an actual theatrical premise writer.

i agreee with namek but look how long it actually took to make the x-men movie like 9 years because so many people were in and out and finally in 99 in came out.

Exactly. Although, it does seem likely that this movie will take some time, I'd rather have it come out some time down the road, instead of hitting the audience with a really horrible script. Milking it out for some bucks, wouldn't be very appreciatative towards us, the general Dragonball Z fan base. I'd rather wait, and like a videogame, hopefully the wait will make the final product all the more sweet. That's why I have problems with some folks who criticize a film that hasn't even been given a chance yet. Oh, and to the starter of this topic, DBZ Mom, sorry about coming off rather annoyingly in that initial post. I'm the sarcastic, witty 'el <pojo ownz><pojo ownz><pojo ownz><pojo ownz><pojo ownz><pojo ownz><pojo ownz>o' that you love or hate. No room for in-betweeners. I agree, but there's a problem with holding it off for too much longer as the DBZ fad in North America is unfortunately coming to an end soon...

First off, if Hugh Jackman does play, and notice the 'if', there have been rumors, give it a chance. This is the actor that managed to faithfully pull off Wolveriine, and I'm sure you have your concerns. Many hardcore X-Men fans weren't sure about this new guy coming out of nowhere but he played a faithful rendition of the Canadian. Hehe, had to add that he was Canadian. Secondly, hopefully this Dragonball Z fad will die down. I'm tired of a bunch of wannabe kids not knowing what the difference between the dub and the sub is, or the manga and anime. Time to let them free in the forest. Within time, they will perhaps cling onto the next fad, base jumping.

I was just talking to my friend about the possibility of the movie and I was reminded how horrid it could turn out. But there is just one small possibility that i am hoping for that they actually do justice to the series and respect the plot. But i just know they won't. I mean...yikes.

no comic to movie ever stays the same. therecould be some drastic changes and there could be some minor changes but i'm looking for some changes in general to the story so it gives it a more reality quality.

all i care about as far as characters is jet li as vegeta and robin shou as goku...everything else will fall into place...this movie will be good if it's made..if not..then we will never know

niether do the other 2 your baseing it off of them being chinese and martial artist as well as actors. the reason i said jackie chan is because jackie chan was an inspiration for At when he was writing dragonball i never said he would play any characters i said he would make a cameo.

goku and vegeta don't have to be asian race doesn't matter in movies trust me because look at daredevil kingpin was white and in the movie he's black why because he is the only guiy that actually looks and sounds like the kingpin.

In all honesty, I hope that the supposed dbz movie will NEVER come out... there's more than enough hatred for this series here in the states but can you imagine how that may be intensified by seeing commercials for it air all the time and then going to the theatres to watch overpaid actors grunt and growl really loud while pretending to shoot energy blasts at each other, power up, etc.??
This would probably make dbz seem even more ******ed than it's already thought to be and no dbz fan would want that, I don't think.
It might be a good thing for the dbz fad to die down...

I agree to disagree-- if I'm not mistaken, dbz was brought to America in '95 and if indeed true, that means it's almost been here for a whole decade... it's aired on Toonami for so many years now and has apparently brought in some huge ratings but IMHO, it's had its run and this great series will never be forgotten so I think it would be a good thing to just let it die.
In all actuality, it's probably been re-shown too many times and re-running anything for years on end can certainly be a huge mistake.
Besides, I seriously cannot imagine any actors portraying the z-characters very accurately, not even Jet Li... he seems a little too old to me as well.

Actually Dragonball first hit American TV (FOX) in '95...and DBZ didn't start rolling on CN until like a year or so later... the old Sabon Saiyan saga dub dates from '96.

But i think that since not all the movies are dubbed, the DBZ "fad" may last for another year.

Besides, I seriously cannot imagine any actors portraying the z-characters very accurately, not even Jet Li... he seems a little too old to me as well.
Actually, i think any of those "Klingon" actors can play the Z-senshi as many of them would also make good Saiyans i believe and they could easily learn to speak the saiyan language! :cool:
