Numerous people have told me that I dont build decks all that well. I would love it if someone could give me tips on deck building (namely for a phoenix/zombie deck). You can reach me on AIM @ MrDiamondSV187.

well start off with phoenix and hand...

then 3 pyramid turtles,
1-2 creature swaps,
smashing grounds,
basic good warriors (ddwl, exhiled force, assailants if possible)

Then good trap line:

3 sakurestus
1-2 Bottomless trap hole

Just dont play any weird cards that arent necessary and then u should be ok :D

Use a monster list that has some of these:

Apprentice Magician
Cyber Jar
Morphing Jar
D. D. Warrior Lady
Spirit Reaper
Breaker the Magical Warrior
Cyber Dragon
Mobius the Frost Monarch
Magician of Faith
Tsukuyomi
Sangan

In a Zombie deck:

Ryu Kokki
pyrimid turtle
spirit reaper

Use a spell list like so:

2x Smashing Ground (or 3x)
1x Snatch Steal
1x Dark Hole
1x Nobleman of Crossout
1x Mystical Space Typhoon
1x Book of Moon
1x Heavy Storm
1x Premature Burial
1x Swords of Revealing Light
1x Scapegoat
1x Enemy Controller

Use a traplist like this:

Call of the Haunted
Torrential Tribute
Dust Tornado x2
Sakuretsu Armor x3
Widespread Ruin x3

or something like:

Call of the Haunted
Torrential Tribute
Dust Tornado x2
Sakuretsu Armor x3

or something like:

Call of the Haunted
Torrential Tribute
Royal Decree
Dust Tornado x2
Widespread Ruin x2

"The sum of the parts is less than the sum of the whole"

Basic rule I use in deck building. It's helped me.

The lineups given too you have been very CC and great for competitive play. Don't give up on your previous attempts on deck building. Always remember a deck does not come from an internet site, but from inside you!

You don't always need the best and most expensive cards to win a duel I was schooled in a tournament by a guy who put his deck together from a bunch of starter decks ie. Summoned Skull, Trap Hole, etc.

It is all how you play the deck. just play with the cards you like and build a little support around them and it'll work out.

You might find this post of mine useful. It's kind of a tutorial on deck building, using a zombie deck as an example. It would be easy to change it into a zombie/phoenix deck by replacing just a few cards.
