Orlando regionals report.

I don't do tournament reports often so i will try the best i can.

Pre-Trip preparations
Anyways, i wake up at 5:30 in the morning, get dressed and head out to pick up Paul. We then drive down to the Gas station where we meet Jon and Sean. Me and Paul then ride with them to regionals.

The Trip to Orlando
Me, Jon, Sean, and Paul all talk and trade and all that good stuff. I was cramped up with my knees to the back of the because im really tall and big. [My Knees will be sore for a while] We stop by a Mcdonalds and get some breakfast. After we leave we continue for an hour until we reach a Pharmacy, where Jon's dad stops to ask someone to help guide us to Orlando. Right after we leave the Pharmacy i have to go to the restroom. I have to hold it in till we get there. Anyways, back to the report. So we follow the guy towards Orlando and he tells us where to go from there and we are set. One problem. It's 9:40 and registration ends in 5 minutes.

Stroke of Luck
We are still driving and and is now 9:45. [Thank god they have late-registration avaliable.] We eventually arrive at the place and what do i do first? Yep, you guessed it, i go to the restroom. After that, i get the cards i need and wait till regionals start.

Nah, I'm Topher. :)

I was even surprised how well the Skill Drain was working. I scratched the deck together @ 9:00pm the night before. Play tested 4 games against a toolbox deck, won 3, and figured I'd have a good chance. Next version will have Fusiler too. Doh, forgot Fusiler!

The deck was totally unexpected in the meta. I wish I'd have carried my camera with me -- all the stunned looks people had with Skill Drain and especially Fake Trap. Yes, FAKE TRAP!

And I don't know how many times I'd have Drain out, usually with an atk pos GEAF, and my opp would draw and immediatley play RotA. Then about half way through searching they would stop, look down at SD, look back at their deck, and then pause and give a blank look as they realized no monsters in their deck could help them. Very anti toolbox.

Top 8 Round 1 was tough! Game 2 was very close and game 3 we both had bad hands (I had BOTH my tribs in hand.... :eek: ) but I think he just had a little worse hand. Good games, players and competion all around though and congrats to all for a good showing.

This reigionals meta was the best, Mad hatter and Me and donald probably had the most diverse meta in top eight though. other than that i am pretty sure every one was running toolbox. That skill drain definately wouldve ran 10 times better with fusiler o man. but yea two dekoichi controls won, and we both sided toolbox it was hilarious, after game one i was like .... i side 13... it was great... but alot of props to the new and upcoming hot teams including Team viper, Team untouchables, Team total anarchy, and to the fitzgeralds mom. And also to all the other various teams that attended that i was too lazy to type. It was a good tournament attendence wise and i was happy to see soooo many new teams includin the two top 8's from the untouchables, and the top 8 of viper. This tournament was pretty sweet. I think my favorite part though was when i traded an assailant and a kinetic for a TP3 Needle, i was pretty happy about the trade early on. Hope you all had as much fun as I did, and wow... Steven, Fargas made youre deck? That is pretty cool.

I don't run cc and I do well all the time, besides think about it, if you build an original deck than no one is prepared for it ie dark world, and there deck fails completely against it. When someone does well with a CC deck, people complain about it.

When someone does well with a non-CC deck, people complain that the metagame sucks (see: SJC Burn deck). He is free to play whatever he wants, and CC is a fine choice.
