kurumster

This is my first regional report and I'm doing it only because noone else from the event made a REAL thread.
The day starts at 4 o clock in the morning and me and 10 of my friends depart to Dallas. On the way there we almost get killed in a wreck from the other side of the median and, the other car gets a flat tire. That delayed us about an hour. We finally get there at about 9:58 and find out that we had to buy a day pass to participate in the event plus te $20 entry fee.
Ok, on to the matches
Round 1
Kurumster (me) vs. Joey Wheeler
Now when I looked at the pairings I thought it was a joke, but his name really is Joey Wheeler, and he played like him (sucks).
Match 1
I play cautiously, because i've never seen him play before. He was running dragons with no horus. Basically I 2-0 him.
Round 2
Kurumster (1-0) vs. ??? (1-0)
From the look of the guy's deck it was pretty good. But when I played him, it seemed like he didn't know what he was doing. I 2-0 him.
After beating him he asked me for some advice and I fix his deck. Because I felt sorry for him I gave him a D.D. Assailant.
Round 3
Kurumster (2-0) vs. Ray Ayala (2-0)
I played this guy at the animefest regional. Last time he was running zombies.
Game 1: I start off playing aggressive and I run into three sakuretsu armors and some widespreads. I get owned.
Game 2: I side in phoenix and own him.
Game 3: I own him again.
He couldn't get his revenge from the animefest.
Round 4
Kurumster (3-0) vs. Daniel Lasher (3-0)
I think that he's with team outphase.
Game 1
We have a pretty good match and I was drawing everything I needed at the right time. He comes back and wins the game. He deserved it. I hate winning because of luck.
Game 2
I get him down 400 LP and I'm at 6000 LP. He stalls the game with reapers and sakuretsu. I get decked out.
I get 2 -0ed.
Round 5
Kurumster (3-1) vs. Carlos Santos (3-1)
Game 1:
This guy was running an earth beatdown with amazoness swordswoman and giant rat. The thing that really hurt my LP was when I attacked a swordswoman with an injection fairy lily. I still win.
Game 2:
I side in phoenix and the rest was a blur.
I 2-0 him.
Round 6
Kurumster (4-1) vs. Harold Houston (4-1)
They had been doing random deck checks all day, and they ended up getting us this round. After doing the deck check, my opponent got a game loss for not putting his side decked cards back in his side deck.
Game 2
He doesn't really feel like playing so I beat him easily.
I 2-0 him.
Round 7
Kurumster (5-1) vs. Jeffrey McKinney (5-1)
He was one of the guys that came on the trip with me. It really sucked that we had to play each other.
Game 1
We know each other's decks so I beat him pretty easily that game.
Game 2
I know that he sides in the cyber dragons (Because he always does it when we play) and he knows that I side in phoenix.
I still win easily
I 2-0 him.
Round 8
Kurumster (6-1) vs. Ryan Cerda (7-0)
When I took a look at the pairings, I was pretty pi$$ed to see that I had to play him. I was trying to get in the top 8, not get kicked out.
Game 1: I own him (I don't know how it happened, it just did)
Game 2: I run into a kinetic soldier and it all goes down hill from there.
Game 3: Same as game 2.
I lose 2-1.
After the swiss rounds my record was 6-2 and I was thinking that because I lost to Daniel Lasher and Ryan Cerda that I wouldn't get any good tiebreaker points. But I found out that I get the points just for playing them.
While they were announcing the top 8, when they came to #8, the judge said that there were two people with the same last name (Davis) at 8 and 9.
He calls my name and I'm like hell yes.
Top 8
I play Ryan Cerda again and I'm not even going to tell you how bad I got owned. Ask DUELING DAD if you want to know. He saw the horror.
props
Getting my second top 8 at only my second regional
The new mats look pretty good
Ryan Cerda for owning everyone
Daniel Lasher for helping my tiebreaker points
slops
Almost getting killed on the way there
Getting a flat tire
being the only 1 out of 9 in a group that went together
My friend's records
4-4
3-5
3-5
2-3
3-5
5-3
6-2
5-3
I also qualified for nats because half of the people in the top 8 already had invites.
I'm thinking about going to SJC Arlington to see what I can really do, but until then I'm going to lay low.
