December 3rd Regional Report...!

Hello.

This is my report from the San Jose, Regionals on December 3, 2005. All in all a good event, but sadly I fail, continue on to see why.

Round One

Dotdotdot vs. Henley

Ok, wow. This guy was a little late at first so I kinda thought, 'First round, scrub.' Yeah I was wrong... This guy t8'd last time so needless to say I underestimated his deck; Which I later found out was Soul Control/Phoenix/Coffin COntrol/Aggro. Yeah so he takes advantage in game one after my breaker hits a coffin out of no where, I mean this coffin seemed to have like no synergy with this deck, but of course, I hit it with my luck and after that, I had to deck him to win. He was down to 4 cards until he flipped my spy, controllered then hit with Phoenix for 1200 exactly (^.^). Game two, I learned from my mistakes and sided, as of now there is a large crown forming... Im not too fond of crowds... Reaper and Don go ballistic on this guy and my Survivor took care of 1/2 DDA's so needless to say I got it. Game Three started IMMEADIATELY before time was called so he already had a chance to throw burn stuff in his deck, hot. We stall during End of Match Procedure for at least 20 something-odd-turns, until he has a magician lock and he got dark hole, and was getting heavy next turn I went for the kill with Exiled on magican and tributing Newdoria for Mobius to seal it.

Wow. A random. This guy topdecks like Yugi Moto himself, like it was a miracle. When even I had magic, this guy ripped breaker, f/d? Nobleman. Monsters? Smashing. He wins one, I win Two, Im winning 3, he gets in a reaper hit to kill my hand and we're both topdecking, I draw smashing, activate, he rips... LILY?! WTF! I take 3400, its all good im still in it. I draw another smashing, activate. He rips, RotA, into a Blade Knight... =/

This guy played beatdown, he overextended amazingly... My tech made hot work of him... 2-0

Round Four

Dotdotdot vs. Tristan

This deck was... weird. He ran 2x Gigantes, 2x Ultimate Offering and 2x Pot of Avarice... the synergy SHOULDNT have worked...but it did, not good enough though. Game one is quick in my favor, Game two He gets a Cyber Dragon, and 2x Gigantes... Not good. Game 3 is all me.

This guy never showed up... He had work or something...

Round Six

Dotdotdot vs. Carlos
I have absolutely no recollection of this match... All my notes say are that he took 2x DDA hits, a Cyber hit, and... an uncountered breaker hit... I stayed spotless both games. =D

Round Seven

Dotdotdot vs. Cory
This guy played WAAAAY too fast for his own good, and he overextended ALL of his resources turn two to kill my f/d sangan... I Had heavy in hand. It was pretty quick

Round Eight

Dotdotdot vs. Phung

Wow. This was the hardest game I'd played in a while. Game one was REALLLY slow, I have total advatage so he ends up prolonging the inevitable. Game two, He sides in Kinetic, and Confi's first turn, sees I have ALL warriors, sets Kinetic, I attack with DDA, Yes, I take 5000 in 2 turns and lose because Kinetic>Warrior Clogged Hand. Game 3 This was by the book, we both played nearly perfectly, and it came down to topdecking (Excpet he had a facedown, while I had nothing =/). He rips Lady, swings for 1500 I go to 1300... I draw..............Premature Burial. I cant wait so I activate, get the Kinetic. And...
And... Walk straight into the handshake and the face down dust tornado. Good Games.

Yeah so I was Second and I dropped to 20th?! If I would have had a decent or good tiebreaker I would have still made Top 8... But thats life. And life hates on me. Oldskool.

Yeah, it took i'd guess about 20 more turns than expected, but I couldn't push for the win until I knew I had it =/

I really should have sided better but topping a premature didnt help, going 6-1 with the absolutely scrubbiest tiebreakers gave absolutely no room for error...

I played well but it really came to topdecking against VTDragon final round, and he got the monster so it was all good I guess...

Wow.. nice record but that no show really hurt your record... I'm hoping that DM Girl deck does good in the SJC. I'm getting tired of the same old stuff, lol. Good job though

I did not run Deko, instead I opted to run spies because getting a monster to the field, in my opinion, is better than drawing a card. I was going to try deko, but the spy worked so well in getting Mobius, stopping attacks and getting me field presense, among other things which really helped me win.

That was my thought too. didin't work so well for me with my airknights though.

Best of luck to you at SJC. You really stepped up your game and it shows.

Basically, my deck just failed me. It started strong but scrubbed from there. There were things in it that did work and things that didn't. My V-Lords DID work. They pwn this trap heavy meta. If I waited it out my opponent would usually have used his Cyber Dragon already.

And calling Magic actually did work quite well. Mostly my opponent tossed their Nobleman but that was good for the 4 field searchers (2 rat and 2 turtle) I ran.

I saw your matches, and from what I did see, cyber was awful to your deck so at least you know Kokki for SJC, or Patrician of Darkness =P

Oh he new but he's not going to say anything. He admitted it to me. Just like Eddie G. Lie, cheat, and steal...but at least he's honest about it.

I'm not sure you would have made it Kyler Brendon said at round 8 your ranking was pretty low, and your tiebreakers were not so good. But you still did good and you didn't loose to any scrubs like I did.

If I would Have won another game final round I would have made top 8, for certain... And I had another chance, although slim, of making 7th,8th if I would had a decent tiebreaker... =////////

Well, the lesson in all of this (especially you, Keanson, since you're supposed to be a judge) is that you should ALWAYS read up on the rulings for the sets as they come out. =)

Anyway, the next time you guys have questions or need clarification, come look for me before the event and I'll try and help you out as much as I can. =)

That was a second turn win right?
Seriously Oscar if you play that at the Jump its like an automatic Top 8, seriously there was soo much tech, so many OTK's, DMG was regularly at 5000 and the people faces were priceless.
