Hey, i was dueling on YVD and someone told me that DDA has to be atk'd in order for his effect to be activated.
Is that True?
Or can it be like this...
My opponent has Sacred Pheonix of Nepthyhs i summon DDA i atk his Pheonix to remove it can i take damage and then activate his effect? Because the card says....
"When this card is destroyed as a result of battle with your opponents monster remove from play both this monster and the attking monster.
So can i remove from play the Pheonix if I atk'd it on purpose or does Pheonix have to atk me? Even if it worked like that wouldn't it still be the same just i would have to wait 1 turn to remove anyway? That's kind of dumb.

Yes DDA has to be destroyed by result of battle either way, you ram it into one of your opponents stronger monster or they attack it with something stronger than it, then his effect will go off.

No, it just has to lose in battle. You can suicide it into another monster to destroy it.

The person you are dueling is a noob, DDA can attack a stronger monster and remove it from play. It does not have to wait for it to be attacked.

Um...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but if "D.D. Assailant" is attacking a more powerful monster, wouldn't that make the Assailant the mentioned attacking monster?
By 'mentioned', I mean as it's mentioned in the effect text.

Where in the hell does it say on the card anything about being attcked or being the attcker? it just says as longs its destroyed as a result of battle with your opponents monster then both monsters see another dimension, thats it! no attcking crap, just battle.

I was just stating things here. Heesh.
Anyway, I apologize for my ignorance; I was assuming that BrandonMcClain was typing out the actual effect text (like everyone should). But I've just checked the YVD card database, and by Jove, I was wrong.

When this card is destroyed as a result of battle with your opponent's monster, remove from play both this card and the opponent's monster that destroyed this card.
Where does it say that the opponent must initiate the attack for the effect to activate? It doesn't. If I attack your Mobius with my D.D. Assailant, I lose 700 lp and both monsters are sent out of play. If you don't believe me, please read this response (http://www.cogonline.net/showthread.php?t=8602&highlight=Assailant) from a level 2 judge to this same question.

But like I said, I was assuming that the original poster here was quoting the actual card text, okay?
What part of these words is so hard to understand? I fail to see that.

when this monster is destroyed as a result of battle both it and the monster it battled with are removed from the game
its effect activates whenever it is killed in battle rather it was attacked or it attacked

OMG.... It's when DDA is destroyed IN BATTLE whether it's the ATTACKED or ATTACKER, IT. DOES. NOT. MATTER.
