So what does everyone think about the decks that won?

And people said this format was made to eliminate CC, lol. Um.. 0/10 for originality there.

A decised lack of Dust Tornado in the main decks, explains the main decked Jinzo's.
Pity they're all what they are.

I don't hate it. I'm merely stating that they are the same deck. In the NI Pharoah tour tourny we had, there were burns, BEWD deck, Cyber-Stein Deck, Neo-Chaos, Archfiends, Spellcasters, and my DM deck. None of them are an original concept, but very few are the same.

Well there is variety at every regs. Can it be helped that the variety wasn't good enough to deal with the things that were "CC" and top8? *Shrugs*
Cloudpaul
11-28-2005, 03:04 PM
Yeah, and most of those decks beat the CC decks and got top 8. I came 5th with my deck.
Perhaps the others at this tournament just sucked *shrugs* doesn't matter anyway.

The only two cards I find interesting are the Reflect Bounder in the top 2 decks and the Exarion Universes, which I've seen lose some popularity wth goats down to 1

11-28-2005, 03:35 PM
As the head judge of this event, it really didn't suprise me as to what showed up. People were very quick to complain about the decks at SJC Atlanta, but until the SoCal event, we didn't see anything different...
To those complaining about a lack of originality, we did have a fair number of different decks, that were beaten by those decks; including Archfiends, Beatdown, & Gravekeepers. Originality is there, the problem is either the player or the deck cannot stand up to what it faces.
Also, this is not CC. Anyone calling these decks CC, has no idea of what CC is and was. 1 card does not a CC deck make. These are Toolbox Aggro, plain and simple.
Yami no Riku
11-28-2005, 03:45 PM
Toolbox Aggro is CC now. The first deck is jank. And it's bad-jank, not sexy-Japanese-Miso-G-winning-jank that can actually work.
=/ @ these decks, =/ I say.

mark mark mark... what did i tell u about arguing with pojoers? neway, kevin was the best player there (altho im not keen on a few of his deck choices) gg, altho i dont think that many of the better players in the region played (dutch judged); also, most of these decks arent good.... i see maybe two that are decent

And yet the player won... his deck was consistent. Remember, consistency trumps build 9/10 times.
I was the table judge on all of his T8 matches. A few times he top decked when he needed it, but mostly he just gained board control first and tried to keep hand advantage over his opponent.

Yeah, a good CC deck played by a noob looks like it could've top8'd there, or even an original deck idea played by a good player, but I'm assuming there weren't many there anyways.

Certainly a lot of trash talking, for people who most likely would have scrubbed out at the event.

thanks, hmk 17, or should I say, Keith, for defending us, the top 8. I got 4th at the event playing TOOLBOX, not Chaos Control. I didn't even use that chaos retard. My teammate, Raheel, played it, but probably only because it's been working for him. That was his 3rd Top 8 with that deck in a row. Anyway, if you guys think we suck that bad, come to Georgia and play a Unity Entertainment regional. We will be happy to send any player back home X-3 with a new respect for decent players.
P.S.- I'm sorry, but I can't justify 1st place, Malcolm Xavier's, "jank". I'm sure it was just a moment of sillyness building that deck, but hey, I won't talk a whole lot of junk because he beat me in the Top 8.
Congrats to all Top 8'ers anywhere!

You know what's funny... a random person goes to Unity's site and pulls these off and posts them here. Then everyone and their cousin comes by to flame the players, the decks, and the GA metagame.
There have been a few people that have made positive comments, but mostly its been trolls trying to feel better about themselves.
Trust me, this is not different from any other tournament meta in the US at that time. To say otherwise is a lie and you know it. Granted next month's regional will probably have the SoCal Return from the Different Dimension deck appearing.
To make claims about a deck list without knowing the player, how he plays, or how the deck plays out... is quite arrogant. Especially in light of the decks some of you have chosen to sig.
To keep it fair... anyone who wants to make an arrogant comments; I'll track down your decklists and standings from any Regional you play in and let these guys in the Top 8 make their comments about you and yours.
How about it?

I happen to like the Reflect Bounders. They make a nice exhaustion card, forcing the opponent to trade some kind of resource to rid themselves of it, even if they just attack it (LP is a resource too). Just got to be careful about those Mystic Tomatoes...

I completely understand what you're saying, but this does not reflect the metagame as a whole.
NY/NJ metagame is different than this, yes, even before Paul's deck (who is from this area) "broke" the meta. You guys can dismiss our meta all you want, but we have some pretty good players in our area so it can't be all bad.
Likewise, I'm sure you can say the same about yours.

Im a "random person"?
lol, but yeah I know what you mean.
The thing about this format is that most times good decks look really bad on paper, but when you playtest them, they turn out to be really good.
Lets face it, there is no CC in this format. Its anything goes really.
These decks beat out 66 other people, thats really good, so lets show them the proper respect they deserve, and instead of insulting them actually test out the decks, or make suggestions to them on how they could be better.
Anyone can flame them, but what good will that do?
This reminds me of when I won a Regional with my Horus Deck. All everyone ever did was flame me for it, and said it wasnt possible, etc. Those who copied the deck failed horribly at it, which made them even more frusterated.
Its not the deck that wins, its the Player.

It takes both a solid deck and a good player to win most duels. If you do not have a good combination of both you will not excel, which is obviously what these people in Georgia are lacking.

And he beat me by top decking a Call with Jinzo in his graveyard >.<...still hurts to get 9th and no prize at that regionals :(.

The reason there wasn't a Bazoo deck is because this regional was hold on the same day the SJC was being held. -_- 3 of the people that beat made top 8 oh well theres always next regionals.

I like the fact that two of you are complaining about something that you SHOULD have brought up to the judges at the event! When you say stuff like that AFTER an event, it just makes you look jealous and trying to rationalize why you lost.
But still, the mods ought to close this thread down. All it has done is show the arrogance of YGO players and provide them with the ability to flame people they don't know.

Don't player hate me, player hate somebody else
Yo, yo yo I'm a gangster
Where my dawgs at?
Bark with me if your my dog
Yo yo yo, I'm gonna give a shout out to all the player haters
(I don't like player haters)
If your a player hater don't player hate on me
(player hate somebody else)
I'm a gangster, I'm straight up
(straight up gangster, dude)
Grr I'm steamin' mad grr
I'm a gangster, I'm a straight up G
The gangster life is the life for me
Shooting people by day, selling drugs by night
Being a gangster is hella tight
I walk around town with a stark erection, then gave your mom a yeast infection
I saw the police man and I punched him in the eye
To serve and protect, what a lie
I also don't like white people, you shouldn't too
And don't get me started about the jews
I'm a gangster
Grr I'm mad
I'm a gangster
My rhymes are bad
I'm a gangster
I'm iced out like a freezer
I'm a gangster
I don't listen to weezer
I dropped out of school at the age of 3
(why)
Cuz all the teachers tried to player hate on me
(oh)
My rhymes are cool just like doing cocaine
My rhymes are hot like a burning flame
Sisqo is my homie, he's a ganster too
Me and Sisqo are the leaders of the gangster crew
I like to be in jail and he likes to sing and dance
Some say we're the perfect match
(step off, step back, step away, step back, don't step forward, back, don't step forwards, step backwards, forwards don't step to me, do not step to me-eeee-eeh)
I'm giving a shout out to my homies in cell block 8
Being in jail sucks cuz you always have to masturbate
Except when a Jewish person goes to jail all my homies cheer
They will make minced meat out of his rear
Ben Petty helped me make the gangster beat to this song
I shot him in the face cuz he looked at me wrong
I'm a gangster
I drop bombs like Heroshima
I'm a gangster
***** suck on my wiener
I'm a gangster
I drive a cool car
I'm a gangster
I smoke weed in a cigar
Yo my gangster flow
Yo, yo yo yo
I'm rolling on dubs iced out like hockey
My friend got kicked out of Japan for drinking all the saukki
What a *****
Gimmie head, hoe
What's up to my dawgs
Yo yo yo
They play my song on the radio all day long
So everyone can hear my gangster song
Nobody thought I'd blow up like a firestone tire
Oh there's no beat left
(shooting)
Die, Die evil Santa Clause
no i don't wanna do accapello
i like to slap *****es
i like to slap hoes...

Is all you guys can do is flame people? I mean, instead of saying how bad these decks are, how bad the GA meta is, etc, you could atleast congrat the top 8 and if the decks are really that horrible offer suggestions. The decks can't be that bad if they made a top 8. As said before, it's the player, not the deck. I'm surprised at all the flaming. All you guys do is point out the bad points of this.

It's called tech, and it worked quite well all day long. I don't run it anymore though, since I can use Wildheart now.
(I was the one that ran that deck, by the way.)

this is crazy! EVERY DECK LOOKS EXACTLY THE SAME! Man, they better ban some more cards to create some originality or this game's doomed! I say get rid of cards like smashing ground, fissure, dark hole and the other so called "staples." These things ruin the game and the strategy behind it.

More than a few people have made insulting comments to the players, actually. That's the thing that's really pissed me off in this.
As stated before, what is bad about the decks other than the originality? If you want to make that statement... please try to elaborate and help. We all want a competitive environment for nationals, if you think the decks need help... then assist in making them better.
No offense to the GA players, but I am telling Unity to pull the deck list thing down. I don't believe it fair for you to compete and do well... only to be personally insulted by some know nothing punks who are jealous of your performance.

Hey now, I actually enjoy seeing the decks. I'm sure many others like to see too. It gives an idea of whats popular, whats being playing in a given area, and also what to watch out for. These smack talkers can just yammer on about how "bad" these decks are all they want. If anything, people just shouldn't post the decks HERE. Maybe some people might have a tiny right to say something, but even if they are a high level player, they shouldn't be acting like that.
Just remember...This happens with all events. Just look at the SJC threads. people hate or they get crazed over an idea. Just human reaction it seems. :\

nothing else to be said,
congrats to t8, but let's be real ... if u MAINBOARD a GAF .... u lost ur marbles ...
hmk .... let loose off the deck list pull down, its interesting to see what people play outside ur own meta... (it changes by the city) .... people always have their comments, like me ... or anyone else ... can say its Jank, or trash, or whatever ... or OMGGw0wthisdeck*barf* ... its the same nonsense...
same thing happened when we saw bazoo.dek ....
no difference, people play what they see as consistent, so people can flame all they want, but what wins ... wins ...
I also like how people swear they are amazing at the game and get 2-0 by people who dont say the darndest wurd ... thats pretty funny ... =]
