hey, can I get some posts on this thread? Is any one going to this tourney or is it my team vrs. Carlisco's vrs. possibly Grand Slam? is Oscar going? lots of questions to be answered. only time will tell.

also I hope to see Anime Remix better represented in this one. only 2 at Tucker and they had 2 run the booth. I know Khanh wants that 1st regional victory against me. especially since i am now qualified and i dont think he is. jk-lol

also, still dont know what to play. Please offer suggestions, but no jank please im ok, but im not Dutch and can win with anything that has sleeves and some decks that dont.

Meh, this one will be different. I would highly reccommend not playing Levitin's deck. As: 1. We now know about his playstyle 2. The deck is horribly inconsistent at even its best moments, thus relying on a certain playstyle.

The advice of this judge is that you run a full Machine deck w/ tech D.D.'s.

Nobody will be prepared for that and suprise wins more games than anything.

As to your field...

Victor might not be going. Kevin's not going. Oscar... who knows, he is full of suprises, though I doubt it. We will probably be seeing more from the Lower Alabama area than Atlanta this time around. It is possible that we could have another Augusta on our hands, you never know.

And you guys obviously haven't heard it yet, Dutch quit.

I guess Raheel, Jim, Drew Bartlett(hopefully), Andrew Ahn, Satcher, David Gordon, Nick (of Athens), Brian Eason, Malcolm X (lol), khanh(hopefully) and I will all be faves to top 8.

Lol. I was playing it but I dont know. I hate yugioh this format is gay. There are to many decks to play. But I really do love this format. But yes I am sending them tomorrow 2 day mail. His san fran (new) deck is so good. I might play that at the regionals. But then everyone will be playing it hah. But thanks to me it is made possible lolz. This reg should be easy. For sure.

And since, some of you didn't get the joke... by "playstyle", I referred to the Levitin's admitted cheating.

Trust me, the best deck in the format is not being played.

Here's something you need to remember... call him on it. Don't whine after the fact. Get a pair and speak up. Anytime I hear crap after a tournament and it is stuff that needed to be addressed then, it seems to be an attempt to justify losing to someone.

As it stands, I really think you guys don't know the difference between slow play and stalling.

Victor is what is classified as slow play. Pace is consistently slow, in and out of tournaments. He does do things at points, which can eat up time if you let them. The Reinforcement thing is a prime example.

After all, I've seen some of you guys take 30 second turns... and that's including resolved attacks, spells, traps, and a few other things.

Here is a prime example of slow play.

From the Judge Forums...

"There is no set amount of time that a player has to complete a turn, however,
when judging we need to be sure to apply common sense to situations like these.

For cards like Painful Choice, I will typically allow 1 to 2 minutes for the
player choosing the cards out of their deck, and then 30 seconds to 1 minute
for the opponent to select a card. Those times are not set in stone, but are
reasonable guidelines that I have found work well.

As a judge, we want to keep the pace of play brisk, but do not want to rush
the players. This is especially important as the time is winding down in a
round. We need to be very aware of people trying to stall the clock and gain
an advantage, and we should be sure to issue slow play penalties as appropriate.

The thing with Reinforcement of the Army... that would qualify as uncalled for. 1-2 minutes with a guessing game... not good. However, Victor is averaging about 3-5 minutes per turn now.

If you want to really drive the point home, get a chess timer and get him to play by that. Of course, instead of making sniping little comments, you could actually try to help the guy get better.

However, this has been coming up in other areas too. UDE will eventually release a ruling on it. And given what Ian has already stated, its going to probably be about 5 minutes max per turn.

You forget, different areas draw different crowds. Also, the dates and the schedules of others can play important roles.

This Regional is a week before Christmas. The last was a few days before Thanksgiving. Trust me, things like that really play into who can attend.

I no kieth, I just wanna try to top 8 a large regional now that i did in a small one. and it doesnt help that Dutch isnt playing this one (or maybe any more). Thats all. I'm pretty confident about the turnout potential for the Athens regional. That should even draw my old buddy Jordan Hodges and team Wolfpac bak to a GA regional. Outside of the SJC, they havent played here in a while to my knowledge.

I was talkin about there and back is 6.
Basicly, I'm 13 and not even close to 14 =\. But my parents aren't willing to drive there and back, and then pick me up and drive me back. That's like half a day of driving for them. I can't ride the Marta, and I can't ride w/ other people the don't know... I kno Deigo's not going, so I'm prolly just not going to go.

I don't live in Athens, GS does. I'm in Alpharetta like 20min away from Victor. Maybe I could get a ride from him if he and my parents would let me.

Dutch quit for a few reasons. 1- Mantis and the rating systems. 2- GA players offer little in the way of a challenge, only a few can really keep up. 3- now is a great time to cash out. Cards wont this valuable for ever. 4- He can get back in easy anyway. 5- its time for a new #1 in GA, hes had a stranglehold on that position for ever.

All said, its hard to blame him. But dont worry I wont quit. lol

for the record- Dutch's record vrs. me in yugioh- i would say something like 450-200 which means he actually pwns me most of the time and in tourneys i get handed 2-1 defeats like evry time. sad. but hes just that good.

Why did I quit. Well there are several issues w/ my playing I thought were askew. I no particular order;

1) Travel- not enjoying sacrificing my day to travel across the southeast. I know why Unity did it w/ scheduling, but I still don't like it. There are too many people from the Atlanta area traveling huge distances.

2) Money/Cost- Both in the value of the prize to me as well as the value of cards. Even looking deeper, if you travel to a shonen jump, you need to get 2nd just to break even. Not that great, Konomi doesn't want to let UDE put $$$ into the game and it will cost them. Funnier is that UDE wishes Yugioh was VS (they don't have to shove a huge an\mounts of $$$ to keep it going.) Sorry Jeff Donias.

3) Enjoyment playing/Competition- have to put these 2 factors together. The game isn't that great. It isn't hugely complex. It is designed for pre teens. Thus, there is very little room for exploring different archetypes (you might have a new deck after 1 shonen jump but it will be gone by the next.) As for competition, well yeah, you know.

4) Governing software/Rankings- Mantis 2 is pathetic. It can and is manipulated by teams in regards to tie breaker #1. It doesn't upload correct round information as well. For an example of this, check out the Savannah Regional that I won. Hmmm, weird that there is no last round. Tired of hearing who is the best questions. Quick rule, if you feel that the best player is the best strictly on the ratings, you got to be really naive. An example; Dark Assailant, I love you to death but lets say you win 2 local tournaments every week for a month w/ each having 8-9 rounds. You would jump to #1 in the ratings but are you really #1? You can think so if you want, but if you get your points winning a regional I believe it has more clout then beating up on local tourneys players that belong on a little yellow bus eating jello.

5) Metagame.com- Did I really mention them? I am friends w/ the editor Toby form my days at neutral ground and Jason from the mall tour and then lock key games at Origins (3 years ago.) They could have done relevant news pieces a few times but shied or ran away each and every time. The banning of Comic Odyssey? The issues w/ Mantis? Oh, and yes the editing (more like butchering) of my interview. Why does it always have to be feel good. Why can't it be relevant at times? Is UDE governing them? I think so.

6) ect., ect., ect., - Have some more but you get the idea.

As for this weeks regional best of luck to all that attend. As for my attending, 10%, my playing 4%. If you do hear theme music coming for the door, it might be my Ali like unretirement(don't hold your breath.)

The best deck is the most consistent deck...

If that's one thing you can learn from Dutch, that would be it.

Build means nothing if the deck is not consistent in doing what it needs to. It may look pretty, but it will do crap when push comes to shove.

thats true, keith, but Andrews deck was built on the principle of eliminating potentially poor topdecks in favor of more copies of key cards like dust tornado and spirit reaper. thats probably y it may have looked funny to some players due to "missing" cards like confiscation and nobleman of crossout. His deck there at tucker was a solid deck for attacking the meta that day and a good player piloted it to a 6-1 swiss record and a top 4 finish. thats y i said that. man, im gonna have to start elaborate on any thing i say from now on.

Im going to address my comment on GA playrs suking. I was prolly not the best person to make that comment, but hey, it shud b made with all the egos here so here the way to late disclaimer/clarification.

I meant that on a national level almost all of us r not even considered notable except Dutch who used SJC Charlotte to really stick it to some top players for our sake. (not really, he just pwnd cuz the prizes rock and who would not want to pwn enuff to get them, but play along) Other than that, sorry but we have real work to do.

I think Satcher is the one I beat in the top 8. All of the top 8 had nearly the same deck list from what I could tell. Some ran Tomato's, some didn't.

Andrew Ahn was playing Bazoo/RFTDD. He got 12th or 13th.

"Flip/Flop control" as you call it was played by everyone in the top 8 as far as I could tell. Like I said earlier, some used Tomato, but I doubt they were actual "Tomato Control" I didn't see too many other decks. This one guy had an interesting Wind/Dark Realm deck that was 3-0 until I played him in the 4th.

I had 3 total losses during the day. One to Dutch, one to the guy who beat Dutch in the top 8, and one in the final 4.

You weren't the only one tired dude. I admit I almost forgot to do the search, and I thank you for reminding me. I was so tired from only getting 3 hours of sleep the night before, on top of not eating all day, and the long drive. It was kind of hard to concentrate.

Funny thing happened when I left (another side effect from being tired) it took me about 5 minutes after I left to realize I didn't have my lights on in my car while driving. whoops XD
