So far there have been two series of the show that have been dubbed and a third that has not been dubbed as of yet. The first series had 51 episodes and the second had 51 as well. Beyblade also appears of a network YTV that only airs in Canada. I am not sure when the third series will air dubbed but I think it would be likely be in late summer or fall.

Does anyone else here play Beyblade? I run pretty much the most popular North American site

Also, please, this thread isn't made to bash Beyblade. If you've got nothing better to do than insult other people's interests - go away.

On another note, am I the only one suprised that Pojo never jumped on this bandwagon?

I don't play Beyblade.

Are you THE Tamer Brad? The mod of the old Pojo Digimon forums?

I'm also wondering if you're THE Tamer Brad..

Anyway, I Beyblade. Most of the people in my area that did quit. This one kid used one of those double weight disk-ed blades which I think was cheap. I helped my friend build a pretty good blade:
AutoChange Balancer Atk
Some awesome weight disk(can't figure out where to get one)
Wolborg base

My 2 best are: Dranzer F Atk, solid weight disk(from Metal Draciel 'cause black looks awesome), Wolborg base. My other is just Dranzer Shield(on Endurance, also using the same type solid disk).

Of course he's the Tamer Brad...

I never played it (never saw the stuff sold 'round here) but I did watch the show sometimes.

Punichu...I was talking about the toy/game, not the anime =\

And yes, I am THE Tamer Brad ^_^;

Busterslash35: That combo isn't so bad. One year ago, that combo was really strong. It's not so strong any more.

I own 54 Beyblades, currently. I'm waiting for an order of about 120 to arrive from Yahoo! Japan auctions.

You can find link to my Beyblade site in my sig ^^

Hmm I see that my Dranzer/Wolborg blade is almost like the one in the customization section of your site, except the Wolborg bases I mentioned were the ones with the blue free spinning base.. Also, Those semi solid weight disks I use were 8-Heavy according to your site, and my friends was a 6-Wide. So what are competitive combinations nowadays? I'm restricted only to the blades released in the US though, no Japanese blades for me...

EDIT: Also, are double disk-ed blades legal?

Setting of two weight disk is illegal by current Takara 2004 Rules.

It's Buraadochan, hehe...

I've got a stadium and about four blades, pfft...
My brother likes it, but whenever he gets blades he just loses them all within a week -_-;
So I keep them in my room (or try to), and sometimes play with him. And his friends, when they come round (I'm babysitting this weekend for a four year old Beyblade-obsessive, which should be... fun... o.0; )

But I'm not a huge fan, and I don't really like the show...

I'm guessing Pojo's not into it because there's no associated card game. Or is there? I haven't heard of one. I like the show, but I don't play the game.

Actually, there are two Beyblade CCGs, the US one and American one. Both are different.

I dunno, I think a Beyblade section on Pojo would be a big hit ;D But learning advanced Beyblade strategies is hard.

*************: Customize the ultimate blade? ...with 12 blades? There IS no ultimate blade. Maybe, you can build ultimate endurancer. But, I can build ultimate attacker to beat it. Maybe my shooting technique will be more advanced. Sliding Shoot is easy way to kill endurance types.

Yes, the Beyblade tcg is made by one of my favorite companies, Decipher, maker of the .hack//Enemy tcg. A few people around here have tried it(Beyblade) out and said it's ok, but didn't really pick it up. Most of the reason that Beyblade isn't very popular is because of the anime being about, get this, tops. And most people think that playing 'tops' isn't cool( ), expecially ones that are pretty small. When checking out your site, I was surprised that there was so much to Beyblading..

To be honest, I'm surprised Beyblade is so complex to. When a 34 year old Japanese Beyblader opened a site called Beyblade Damashii...that's when I really started learning about the game.

Newest series of Beyblade in Japan, "Heavy Metal System," is smaller than previous series. But to make up for it, AR is made of part-metal, part ABS Caul plastic. You should look into HMS Beyblades. Revive your love for Beyblade. :D

I have once or twice, I don't really think it's anything special. They're tops......and you put weights and other stuff on them......and then knock the other top over. I don't get it.

krang
04-24-2004, 09:50 PM
I watched and played it, but it has no point. the top spins around to topple the other players off balance. I think I stay with the normal stuff like searching for more turtles. well thats my 3 cents byebye now.

Hurray! now that other people have said they like it, I can to! I just got into it a few weeks ago... I know have: Flash Leopard,Bistool, Dragoon V2, Dracial V2 and 2 stadiums. (No takara ones yet. :( )

Busterslash35
04-25-2004, 02:54 PM
Coins aren't endurance tops. I stated why most people hate Beyblade and now you see what I mean. These aren't just like normal kiddy tops where you spin it and hope yours spins longer. These actually take thought to build a good blade. Pennys spin for, what, 5-10 seconds. Beyblades spin for much longer than that and can take some hits.

The Darker Magician
04-25-2004, 09:16 PM
I really dont understand Beyblades they seem basicly like tops with little knives that just spin around and theres no stratagy or anything. I mean they are a hazard, I could see some little kid leaning over the stadium andthe blades will hit each other and one blade would go flying and stabbing his or her eye out. think about that the next time that you warch a battle or duel or whatever you call it.

djcati
04-26-2004, 03:54 AM
"no strategy"?
Ever built a custom blade? Thought not.
Try it some time - you've got to take so much into consideration if you don't want to end up wasted in every battle. Endurance, attack and defence, each part has different stats... stuff... A lot to think about.
"no strategy"... *sigh*

And if someone's leaning over the stadium during a battle, it's their own fault if anything happens to them. There's a warning on every blade not to do that. :\

If you've only ever watched little kids playing, then you should take some time to watch some real bladers. There's a world of difference between someone like my brother, and someone like Brad.

Mr.Buu459
04-26-2004, 05:20 PM
Yeah, There definately IS strategy. You should check out Tamer Brads site. BTW TamerBrad, Im the same Mr.buu from the Toywiz forums. (The one who made the Compact top)

Tamer Brad
07-13-2004, 01:14 PM
Wow, this topic got a lot of replies...old though...I should've checked it before...

I love how so many people are stating that there is no strategy when they obviously don't even understand the game they are talking about...they should look into it more.

Busterslash35
07-13-2004, 05:44 PM
Sadly, I'm starting to drift away from Beyblades.. There's no one else that's interested in it anymore so I kinda stopped with no one to play with. I think those new ones (for us) are out around here(the ones with the key/wind-up bases, I'm pretty sure) but like I said, with no one to play with, it's no use getting more (plus I'm saving up for other things).

Tamer Brad
07-14-2004, 01:15 PM
There's people to play with...you just have to find them...

Nelvana's tournament support is very bad, so it's hard to meet other players. But, you know, someone has to be buying them all.

And newest series of Beyblade is HMS. Heavy Metal System. Die-cast metal parts with revolution speeds of up to 6000 RPM.

Busterslash35
07-14-2004, 02:38 PM
Meh, my friends who have some don't play, others I know of that play are like little kids. As odd as it sounds, I would've liked to watch a Beyblade tournament, though.. Also, I edited my other post; I meant the latest around here. ^^;;

I was into Beyblades for a week or so. I never really learned the advanced moves or anything, just got the things out of the box and tried playing with them. It was fun watching them crash into each other, but it got old soon.

The strategy in beyblade is more like a battlebots strategy, except you have no control over your top spinner. My little brother had one before and mentioned buying different parts and such. It seems like a on something that is obviously a very geeky hobby that requires more money than it does skill or talent. I would like to know the kinds of building strategies used, but would like to stay away from any establishment where grown men gather to spin tops against each other.
I used to play with these power ranger spinners when I was 8, I think I found ways to make them spin faster but you were always on a level playing field with your opponent. Anyway, spinning tops are an improvement over pogs but are meant for children. However, its much worse if you watch animes about spinning tops as well.

Sad to say...I'm 15 and i still like to fool around with these things. I've got no one to play and I like to kepp my blades origanal. (They seem to work better) I like my Metallic Masters series Dragoon. It dosen't spin loong by it self but it's quick to the kill. Anyway, I may enter a tourney someday.

Beyblade does not require a lot of money to play. You don't buy Beyblades in random boosters. You can have a good Beyblade by only spending anywhere from $10 to $40. Of course, my collection is much more (nearly $1000).

Also, I really don't think it's fair, the generalizations you are making. What is the difference between grown men playing a Beyblade battle compared to, say, grown men playing cards? What's the difference between watching an anime about cards compared to an anime about battling tops with monsters? It's all the same when it boils down to it; generalization is bad.

Anybody but me notice how dangerous the sport of beyblading is? it was all fun and games, but now it just became a pretty violent and dangerous sport. Kids are getting sucked into different dimensions, kidnapped, battered and bruised. There are always these explosions when the two really powerful beyblades collide and that usually ends up hamring the bladers pretty badly. But my question is: why haven't the parents done anything about it. I know most of these bladers's parents are extremely worried if they'll make it out of a a blade competition alive, cause it seems like after every battle, they end up with cuts and bruises. I'm surprised their hasn't been some parents rally against the sport of Beyblading. Now are these some understanding parents, or just complete idiots?

I used to play with the tops and watch the anime. I even fooled around and customized with the tops to make better beyblades. I always thought those dragoon launchers were awesome too.

And one time when me and my dad launched two beyblades into one of the coliseum things, I spun the beyblade so hard, it knocked the other one clear out of the beybowl.

At BeyWiki, members have been speculating that it will just re-runs considering the fact that if there was a new series being released, something else would've been announced by now and it would have aired in Japan already.

As for the Beyblade tournament that BleachCardGameboy14 mentioned in his last post, it's official name is "BEYBLADE'S NOT DEAD!" and is being hosted by Tamer Brad. Here is some general info that Brad posted on BeyWiki:

BEYBLADE'S NOT DEAD! @ Anime North 2008

All right gang, here's all the info we have right now for the BEYBLADE'S NOT DEAD! tournament at Anime North 2008.

It will take place on Saturday, May 24 at the Toronto Convention Centre. No specific time yet, but at previous events it has been around noon.
It will be Open Format, meaning all legal Beyblades can be used (basically, bring your HMS).
There will be a specific rules set written up for this event.
As they always are, the prizes will be rockin'.

Yup, seriously. Many members (including me), from his new website, BeyWiki, will be attending. Anyways, aw, why wouldn't you be able to come?

Canada's kinda far. ; ;

I checked out BeyWiki, it was interesting to see what kinds of strategy Beyblade needs. I tried to find some videos on YouTube but honestly, the videos there are kind of lame. They all ended up being endurance matches without the blades touching a whole lot. Hopefully the tournament up at Anime North will be more exciting. >_>

Oh, really? Thats a shame.

What videos did you watch? You should look up DtD90's videos on Youtube, they're pretty good.

Wow ... can't believe this is still going!

Yeah, it does seem DtD removed his Beyblade videos, which was a real shame. I'll try and get some up soon T_T

Haa, I used to be obsessed with Beyblades when I was younger. I asked for them for years during Christmas, and loved getting them, I've never seen the anime, only the american version (which was bad...) so I may watch this anime some time. is it still ongoing? BTW,on ANN this anime got horrrible ratings, what gives?

It's not exactly a very good anime. >_> Basically one big toy commercial (see: YGO!).

No, it is not a very good show at all. I don't know why you say you've not seen the anime, only the American show ...? There's not that much difference between the American and Japanese version.

After an indefinite hiatus in 2005, where Takara suspended the Beyblade toyline, Beyblade is set to return this August with an anime and manga following in 2009. Takara-Tomy (Takara merged with Tomy in 2006) is currently aiming for 20 billion yen (approximately $200 million USD) in yearly revenue by next year. This new generation of Beyblades name has been translated as Metal Fight Beyblade (MFB) and on August 9th, 2008 will be released to the public.

I found my old Driger S and Dranzer S the other day.

I used my Dranzer SO much the attack ring liturally snapped, making the edges super sharp.

I think it was illegal, but it was scarring beyblades left and right. It was amazing.
