I beat the game in all with a Torchic/Combuskin/Blazekin and now I want to beat it with a Treecko. The problem is I play as a boy but I want a female starter for breeding purposes, what are the chances of me getting a female Treecko for my starter???

12.5 % chance and for male 87.5 % which is very slim compared to male which kinda stinks it should be 50/50

yes that does very much stink :( ...........................perhaps thats why i restarted like 15 times and never got a female? :(

Probably the answer. If you really need one badly then it is worth the wait, it usually takes me a few tries to get one.

I always get males. When I tried to get a female Lileep (and later an Anorith) for breeding, it took several tries. I just saved when I was right next to the fossil man and kept resetting until I got a female. I guess you'd do the same with the starters...

Up till today, I always thought it was a 50/50 chance. But I started to get suspicious when all my guys were males.

in GSC, it depended on the Attack stat, so RBY pokemon;s gender would be decided...

you mean teh starters in g/s/c or the chance of yellow pokemon being female when traded to g/s/c

I did not know u could just sit there and keep reselecting the fossil until you got a female(i just accepted the male lileep the first time *tear*),but that would take a long time cuz u have to go change it from a fossil to a pokemon, but that is cool neat nonetheless.

all you have to do is save right before handing it over...

just hand it over, walk out of the room, walk back in, talk to the guy, and he gives you your anorith/lileep... just keep doing it till you get a female...

Yeah, you don't have to reselect the fossil. Just keeping having it re-animated (its gender is determined when it's brought back to life).

You should do this with other one-time pokes, too. I also usually run from males and look for the female forms, but with one-timers like the starters, it's best to keep saving/restarting until you get the gender you want.

i think u have to reselect the fossil because in crystal you had to save b4 u got teh odd egg or the egg would hatch into the same pokemon over and over and over again

eggs are different then items...

technically the fossil and the egg are the same they both change into a pokemon

Absol

but eggs have the actual IVs and moves for the pokemon already... you give the item and then it decides randomly what it's IVs will be...
