View Full Version : How smart is it?

As we battle over and over in search of some reward, I'm wondering if the Artificial Intelligence at the Battle Frontier 'learns' or somehow keeps track of how we battle, making it harder for us to actually beat it.
The reason I'm thinking about this is that after getting Emerald and beating the E4 and stuff, I went over to the Factory to try my luck. In only my second or third run I actually got 41 straight wins but then lost to Factory Head Nolan. Since then, I haven't come close to having a rematch despite trying over and over again. I've got like 700 points! Sometimes I don't even get past 28!
I'd like to believe I have at least half a clue of what I'm doing. This makes me think that I either have really crappy luck or maybe the AI somehow gets smart to my style (or maybe both). I'm half thinking of re-starting the game just to get a fresh start at the BF but don't know if that will make any difference or not.
I'd like some opinions from any of you that have battled at the BF, and the Factory in particular.
Got opinions?

Well, I haven't had that problem with the Battle Frontier, but I do remember having the same problem in the battle tower in Pokemon Crystal.
I think the game is programmed to up intelligence of trainers in places like the battle tower, battle frontier, etc. if you get close to beating it.
Of course, no one in the Pokemon section values my opinion, you all think I am a noob... but I thought I would tell you my experiences anyway. I figured you might find it at least halfway helpful.

why do ppl think you are a noob?
I have been away so I am a little lost.
ShineyAltaria - I beleive you are correct in saying that. I have experienced this myself in the Battle Factory and have givin up hope.

Thanks for the posts. I value your opinions. At this point I'm trying to decide if it is worth my doing a restart. Then after beating the game, I can try taking on the Factory again and test my theory.
More opinions are welcome.

I beleive that the Fronteir in general uses hax to the max.
The Factory is the hardest, moslty because you can't bring your own pokemon in to counter it.
I've pretty much given up on it for the current, I'm trying to beat the Pike. I think my longest streak was 34 or something. If you don't get the right Pokes, gg.
SA, I believe you will prolly be the first here to get the Gold, unless someone has already got it, which would suck, because you are the most dedicated by far.

Hax to the max seems to nail it. I agree Factory is hardest of any ingame challenge, including Colosseum and XD's Orre Col too imo. And thanks for the vote of confidence, wobmaster, if my skill and luck only matched my dedication then I'd be unstoppable LOL. I still have a lot to learn but I'll eventually win since I refuse to give up.
At this point I think I'll transfer Shuckle and Lugia from XD over to Emerald and train them up to Lv 100 just for grins. Before I do a restart to test my 'smart theory', I wanna use up as many items and stuff from this Emerald game as I can. Seems like a waste of good TMs and items otherwise.
My shuckle is all set, but Lugia moveset/EV suggestions are welcome.
Got Lugia?
EDIT: the set it has now is:
Lugia @ nothing
=psychoboost
=featherdance
=hydro pump

Thanks for the suggestion, mage power, I'll consider what you posted. I didn't use my substitute yet either :D
For anyone else who has a suggestion, I should mention that Lu Lu (my Lugia) has a Naughty nature (+ AT, - SD)

IMO on Lugia you should use Aeroblast just because that move is really, really cool, and besindes, when else are you going to use it?
Not on Smeargle I hope.
Also, you may be right about the Battle Factory tracking your moves and playing styles, because I read a post on Smogon by someone who got really far on his first run-through, too, and then he's been trying ever since.

Hmm so I'm not the only one wondering about this. Maybe I'm right after all. That would be a real hoot.
Anyway, here are LuLu's IVs:
HP 23, AT 19, DF 25, SA 13, SD 30, SP 27. Might make a good toxic shuffler LOL. I assume I won't be able to actually use it in the BF. Meh. It'll be just for fun.
