Hey everyone. I recently got a Pokemon Emerald game and was wondering what is the best team you can build in the game? Could you give me some examples in terms of Pokemon, personality, and moves? Thanks in advance for your help.

Best team in Emerald: Anything made by PhazonElite, Fallen Ronin, Goku4rpg, or Wobmaster. ;-)

Actually, there is no "best team" in any game. It depends on your skill or ability to whore SkarmBliss, T-tard, Metagross, and the like. xD

Skarmbliss is now obsolete, losing easily to DD tyranitar and magneton. I think more people are using Weezing (which resists focus Punch and doesn't get eaten by maggy) and Snorlax (which can actually hit metagross and tyranitar switch-ins pretty hard with EQ), though not necessarily in tandem.

Putting a bunch of standards together on a team won't necessarily do you any good, synergy really is crucial here more than anything.

On a good team, you'll probably want:

A physical wall
A special wall
Something with Rock resist
Something with Normal/flying resist
Something fast that can hit hard (328 speed AT LEAST), CB helps here
Both physical and special attacks
Something that can take burn/paralysis
A (p)hazer
Spikes protection

It's also usually a good idea to have a water type and something that can take sleep, although those aren't as necessary.

That last one is an extreme exaggeration, and IMO you should add Clown Master to that list.

Basically, a great team is something that, in the hands of someone smart, will be able to win almost all of its battles, come back after bad mistakes, cover its weaknesses, and generally be able to handle every pokemon that is a threat to the team.

Each Pokemon isn't a seperate unit, but they all must cover each others weaknesses, be they type weaknesses (One time I built a team and then realized it was 5x fire weak when I met a Houndoom), Pokemon weaknesses (Raikou is a beast unless you have T-Tar or Blissey in general), status weaknesses (Aeroy is useless if it is Paralyzed or Burned), and any other general weaknesses (Shedinja is owned by Tyranitar and Spikes).

As Fallen Ronin said, in the best team, all the Pokemon should have synergy.

And with the weekly little changes in the metagame, an undefeated team in January may be obselete if you leave it alone until March.

Just keep tweaking.

And as everyone usually says, there really aren't any best "Teams", but really better "Trainers", so as someone on Smogon said (I beleive it was skarm), "Even when I make crappy teams, I tend to win 70+ percent of the time...", and that is because skarm is an excellent battler. And even the best trainers can lose due to haxes like random CHes or freezes, or if one person gambles, one person plays it safe, and the gamble takes out three pokemon, which will effectively annihiliate their forces, as the best teams operate off of synergy, and losing half the team will rip huge holes in the team, especially if you have something like a Weezing, a Blaziken, and an Alakazam left, since none of them can really stand up to Gardevoir.

Maybe this should be put in the Help Thread.
