im using the lightning rod thing for a 2 on 2 battle (the pokemon with lightning rod partners up with gyarados, who d.dances and EQ's/returns alot.
which would be best with gyarados? manectric or rhydon? both would have protect to save them for one turn. rhydon is sllloooww but also has EQ, and rock slide, with a decent attack. manectric has crappy defenses but is much faster and can use thunder wave. any thoughts? rhydon or manectric? or maybe partner gyarados with someone else and rick the chance of being struck by electric attacks?

Rhydon. Follow me sucks on everything not named Clefable.

Marowak also has it.
Smogondex is your new best friend.

MAROWAK/METAGROSS/GYARADOS/SALAMENCE/AERODACTY used EARTHQUAKE!
It doesn't affect TOGETIC...

I forgot about Togetic's existence.
Togetic used Follow Me.
It is immune to ground, thus making EQ useless.

But doesn't Earthquake hit all pokemon, not just one.

Exactly.
EQ doesn't have it's power halved, but hits both targets. So, it's incredibly overused, and that makes Togetic a feasible option, although that leaves you open to rock slide, ice beam, and thunderbolt.

It hits all Pokemon that either aren't Flying Types or don't have the Levitate ability.
