Friendship card? What's it's function?

What's the purpose of the card 'Friendship' and 'Unity?' Is it there so that it's easier to get link ups with certain duelists?

"Yu-Jyo [ Friendship]" and "Kessoku [ Unity]" were both OCG promo cards that were included in the OCG character guide, both promos worked in conjunction with the cards "Judgement of the Pharaoh" which was released incased in Volume 31 of the manga. All cards have a sort of effect that explains the relations of characters in teh series in the way it effects the duel.

None of the cards have any effect of the virtual duelists in the "Nightmare Troubadour" game in anyway. There simply another set of cards you could possibly add to your deck, and a fun deck concept they are.

Yeah, Unity makes High Defense monsters Like Aztec statue WAY more interesting. Since (for one turn) the statue has the total defense of ALL your monsters. Hehe... Adding the def of a Labyrinth wall for 5k? Sounds painful huh? And Friendship is really a weird sort of life gain card. Judgement of the Pharoah is a control card along the lines of Cold Wave and Time Seal.
