who do you think are the best and worst filler characters from GX and DM are?

Rebecca: She's cute and her deck concept is awesome!

Worst: Johnny Steps. His deck sucked period. He didnt even duel the whole way! cant think of any worse filler characters.

best: Rei. she was pretty cute and I actually liked her deck. It would be great to see her return some time and use the Elemental Charmers and Posessors in her deck.

Worst: SAL, Now that I think about it, you dont have to duel to be cool (no pun intended). I agree with MetallicPyreal about Kunisaki and am changing my opinion. SAL is now IMO the WORST GX filler character, I mean i was dissapointed that the writers screwed up this chance to show a good amount of beast cards in the anime (cough cough* manticore of darkness* cough cough). Sadly, they did and we were stuck with one of the *****tiest duels of all time with one of the most crappy characters of all time.

Opinions? I havent watched any GX epsiodes, only read summaries.

Rebecca Hopkins - She's one of the only filler characters I don't actually think of as a filler character... to me, Rebecca is part of the main cast and I was kind of upset she didn't get to come along for the Ceremonial Battle considering everything else about it they changed. She's smart, she's funny, she's one of the best duelists in DM, and her relationship with her Yugi darling is absolutely adorable!

Noah Kaiba - I really liked his deck and the homage to the original series Kaiba was pretty cool... I felt bad for him too, since he was basically nothing but a ghost and his deck even started to reflect that at the end when he started playing Spirits instead of playing God-oriented stuff.

Worst:
Leon Wilson - I wanted to like Leon at first. I really did. He was a cute kid, his crush on Tea was funny, and he was likable enough at first. Then he dueled. Not only did he defeat Rebecca with the most ridiculous topdeck EVER, but his deck was one of the worst in the entire series. I don't even mean because they were Fairy Tale creatures, they had some pretty funny designs... but the actual effects and cards themselves were like completely awful, especially in his second duel where he started playing like 500 attack peasants with awful effects. His duels were a total waste of time.

Taizan - I honestly don't think anything needs to be said on this subject. Both as a character and a duelist he was just... awful...

Johnny Steps for being a loser.

Magnum for being annoying and trying to cheat after losing the duel.

GX - Best

Rei - Cute and a cool deck to boot. One of the best filler eps ever.

Kunisaki - He was a good character! Just because he didn't duel doesn't mean squat!

Motegi Mokeo - He had such a cool attitude! Although his powers were freaky and a bit creepy...

GX - Worst

Ohara/Kohara - Boring...boring...BORING!

Taizan - I liked his character, but it was just so far-fetched that he learned to "topdeck anything he wants" by living in the wild. I thought that was really stupid.

The guy in the Vampire Lord suit from the Cosplay Duel episode...for having a lame costume. :D

Siegfreid von Shroider(SP?). His valkries were cool and his deck actually eploited the RFG strategy. He wasn't even phased when CED's effect struck him down. Oh and, OMG!!! TEH PINKNESSS!!!

Leon. Anyone who gets exited from seeing Black Magician(Girl) come into play is kick ass.

Rapheal. I hate that guy, with his ubber broken guardians that RFG and power upp his monster, or ones that can't be destroyed by ANYTHING!!!

The guy beats the nameless pharoah and everyone(fans not anime characters) talk about how cool he is, and how much skill he has.

Technically, he's not a filler character. He is a replacement character already for onr there in the original manga's story.

Probably because they would kind of have no reason to do so. In the anime, Kaiba didn't go into a coma, he was Mind Crushed and recovered, so his soul couldn't possibly be in the puppet.

It could also be because Mokuba had the key card as well (not an actual key.)

And that Kaiba was seen plummeting to his doom instead of being in a coma.

Many reasons. Animes aren't 100 percent accurate to their manga counterparts. Especially YGO (Since the first try was a big turd and the second try had to recreate Death-T and etc.)

The ventrilequist was cool.....But there are just some things in the anime that improve over the manga.

I'am not going to go into tons of examples (cause there aren't many) and yes overall the original is always better than the remake...... sorta (if you consider manga to anime that way)

But take the duel boxes for instance. How does summoning holgrams in those little boxes make more sense than on those big projecter fields?

Its just little things like that makes the anime ALMOST as good as the manga.

Motegi. Motegi is a cool name. Yeha, he wasn't very important, but Motegi just has that cool ring to it.

Best: Rebecca and Otogi. Rebecca looks alot like my best friend (if my friend were 9, that is). Otogi's just a huge pimp, like me :D . He's got fashion sense like Ameruda, and, he's just cool. Dice are awesome. All the pimps have furry dice hangin from their rear-view mirror.

Worst: Espa Roba. Yes, I know, he was part of the manga, but, he's filler in the sense that he's there to give Jounouchi his locator cards and Android Psycho Shocker. The reason I hate this cracker is simply because, well, he's just another one of those lame characters they create without much thought (think Hayato, Misawa, etc). Kajiki, Haga, Ryusaki, they are used several times in both manga and anime. Espa is not. Know why? He isn't important. What does he fight for? "If I win this tournament, my brothers won't get their arses kicked for being ugly green-haired eevesdropping brats." Wow, really noble. They'd still get their butts beaten to a pulp, and maybe even moreso. I don't recall him ever needing to find courage within himself, as in, he was timid much like Shou. He was just dueling for his brothers' sake, but rather, in a foolish manner.

And, to all those who say Johnny Steps sucked, you're probably not a DDR player. I loved the guy. He's a black DDR player who entered in a freestyle tournament. Seriously, nothin's cooler than that, cept, maybe, an Asian female entering a DDR freestyle tournament.

Best: Paradox duh. They were summoned all the way from an island likely near California just to try beatin ol Juudai. They still used an old fav; GG, while using newer support. Also, Anacis, because he basically had Juudai locked the entire game. You know, when he lost, he had 1 card in his hand. How much you wanna bet it was Legendary City Atlantis or Earthforming? He had Juudai on his knees the whole while, and got him down to 100.

Worst: Super Animal Rearning Ultimate! Seriously, who did like this joke? I mean, it literally served no purpose. It allowed Juudai to use 1 new card that he hasn't ever used since. I could've watched the duel all in one dump.

Also Tizan. I didn't even get to see the duel, but, I'm glad I didn't. No new cards on Juudai's part, and, a guy who uses a deck around drawing. Wow.

Best Filler Characters:

Rebecca Hawkins. Yeah, cute little girl, kickass jewel dragons, and had the guts to go up against the baddies in DOMA, no matter how tough they looked. Rock on, girl.

Mako Tsunami. So... did he ever find his Dad? Oh and yeah, he plays a Water deck! :D

Raphael. Love him or hate him, he's interesting. The passion he has for his monsters is one in a million, and when he got all pissed at Dartz that one time it was priceless.

The girl who duels Rebecca in KGGP. Haven't seen her yet, but I like her already because she's a girl, and she duels. Enough said.

Tanyia. First of all, she turned into a tiger, okay?? That alone is awesome!!! But the fact that she used an all-Amazon deck was cool too, 'cause Amazons are so under-rated in this game.


Worst Filler Characters:

Duke Devlin. Okay, so Dungeon Dice Monsters was pretty cool and his character development there was the best, but from that point on he just seemed like a fifth wheel (when Tristan is already the fifth wheel, not being able to duel and all), and although it was cool to see him play with an actual deck in DOMA, his skills didn't seem to improve that much. He should just stick with the dice.

Rex and Weevil. I know they have their fans and their decks have been pretty cool at times... but after a few times you get sucked in by the Orichalcos, when do you start thinking, "Hmm, maybe I should just stick this one out and let Yugi deal with this?" By the end of that story, they just took up space.

Bandit Keith. I just hate him... The way he cheated and stole to get to Pegasus just really burned me. Though I kinda liked that Marik had his way with him. Heh-heh, how's it feel to be a puppet, Keith? Oh, stop hitting yourself! Stop hitting yourself!

Tea Gardner. Oh yeah, she's not a filler... I almost wish she was.


Mixed Feelings:

Johnny Steps. Okay, so he had only one episode and he's basically a coward for trying to skip out of the duel, but his deck was pretty interesting. When's the last time you saw a music-themed deck? Okay, never? I thought it was unique. The only really lame part when when Tea started to doubt that Yugi would win. HELLO! When's the last time you saw him lose, Tea?

Noah Kaiba. The little punk really irritated me for a while, ESPECIALLY his voice, and his storyline was really lame and ripped-off by something... But his deck was pretty cool. I just wished he could have played Yata when he had the chance. I'm sure if he ever broke free from the virtual world (oh yeah, now I remember where I saw that- The Matrix!), he'd probably kick some ass.

Carmilla. Her deck was awesome, and her evilness was even more awesome... but someone tell me why a vampire is wasting her time playing a card game!!?? Sure, I realize she was going to use those dolls to bring back her kin, but it still felt like a longshot.

The Submarine Guy. Gah, why can't I remember his name? Anyway, this guy annoyed me a little, especially with the loud speaker. But he played Leviadragon......... What more can I say? Oh, and his duel disk? I want it.

Now, I don't know if it's because the character themselves are lame or the way they Dueled, but here goes.

Duel Monsters

Best- Noah, Raphael and Dartz

Worst- Johnny, Big 5, Jean Claude Magnum... I think that's all. Oh yeah, that dude with Injection Fairy Lily in the movie. Also, the guy in Doma that used Obelisk against Atem.

Gx

Best- Black Magician Girl (Even though the episode wasn't all that cool.), Rei, Kaibaman, Kagurazaka, and that should be all.

Worst- Sal (Definitely), Motegi, Kohara/Ohara, and Taizan.

That dub edit has always bothered me so much. Rebecca was 12, not 8... She's about 13 in Doma, only three years behind Yugi. The dub edit sucked because it makes the Yugi/Rebecca relationship a kiddy's joke when I thought it was cute as an actual potential one. :(

Well on someones opinons. Mako, Rex, Weevil, and Duke/Otogi are NOT filler characters cause they appear in the manga AND anime more than once, thats my opinion though and i havent read the manga version of BC so im not sure if Otogi stays around with the crew like in the anime.

But you do have a point about DM characters returning in GX with backstories. They simply don't tell us what happened to any of the characters after the Cerimonial Duel. They could even make a completely new series out of what happens to the DM characters after Atem leaves. It's timeline could run along side GX or come after it.
