Hi all, I'm going to take my girlfriend to San Fransisco soon and I want to know if anyone had been there. I want to know what places to visit and where to go. I don't know anyone whose been to San Fransisco before who could help me get around over there. I heard that stores in SF has very cheap prices. I don't know if its true or not.
I'm going to be driving there from Sacramento, it'll probably take me pretty long. I checked to see if there were any good malls to visit. I found that there was a "Great Mall." Anyone know if that Mall is big?

Unfortunely, my experience of San Francisco is limited to a few hours at the Airport. But, though the magic of the Interweb:
List of Attractions in SF (http://www.sanfrancisco.com/attractions) and Shopping Centres in SF (http://www.sfguide.com/shopping/shopping_centers.htm)
Apparently, the Great Mall has more than 200 shops, so, sounds pretty big to me.

Go to Ghiradelli's Chocolate Factory. Ghiradeli's makes Godiva taste like liver.

Great city. I've been there several times. I love the pier. Lots of things to do and shops(tourism mostly). Check out a baseball game if you have time. My favorite place in the city, however, is Twin Peaks. It's a hill that you can drive up. Atop, its pretty chilly in the heat of summer. You have spectacular views of the city from up there(Full House Style). At the Embarcado(sp?) block, they have a shopping mall that has spriraling escalators. I thought that was cool because I haven't seen them anywhere else in the country I've been to. Yep. And if you have time, look for a record store called Amoeba. Awesome store with really cheap used and new cd's and vinyls. I spend upwards of $100 for like 20cds there every time I go to SFO. Of course there are waaaay too many great places to eat downtown for me to list here. They have some Japanese/French Fusion restaurants that are fantastic in my opinion. And a little boat ride around Alcatraz would be fun. You can take a boat ride under the Golden Gate from Pier 39 I think.

I've been there once, I went on a ship and it sailed around the the place, I saw Alcatraz(sp). There was also this weird animal in the water that nobody seemed to be able to identify.... They also had this museum about the Golden Gate Bridge. It was cloudy that day so I couldn't see the whole thing.

We go to this little french bistro often. Chapeau! Look it up. Great food and cheap if you eat before 5. Reservations are necessary though. The restaraunt is on Clement street in the Sunset District. A bit far from the airport.

Are you a technology buff? If so, the Metreon is great.

Go down the crooked street. It's really cool.
Don't forget to see as many side performers as you can!

How big is SF compared with Sacramento? Is it hard to find your way around?

Any casinos? I might feel like losing money... :)
But, you guys make it feel like SF is a really fun place. How are the people there? Friendly? Racist? KKK? Probably not, but I hope everyone is friendly.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's a "China Town" in SF, right?

Yeah. There's a Chinatown in SF; it's pretty big. While you're there, go across the Golden Gate Bridge and on the other side, there's an area where you can get a really good view of San Francisco.

Umm, its probably one of the most socially accepting big cities I've been to. Outside Seattle, I found the people to be kindest out of any big city.
