How Many Shinies Have You Seen?

Ok, i went to GameStop today to try and find a used ruby game, and i get into a conversation about shinies with the store clerk. He said he had been playing his emerald for about 63 hours and has yet to see a shiny. Although this didnt suprise me (givin the fact that its like more than 8,000 to 1 chance of finding one) i walked out of the store being hated by him because i had seen and owned more than 5 shinies (i dont think i can add the evolutions) The first shiny i had ever met was a nincada near rustburo on my very first game in saphire shortly after i beat roxanne. I kept it, raised it, and kept shedinja all the way through the elite 4. In the same game, i encountered a shiny gloom in the safari zone. I was amazed, im one of the most unluckiest guys i know. When fire red and leaf green came out, i played nonstop, game after game, and didnt find a shiny. about six months later after not playing, i decided to create a new game, and as soon as i entered diglet's cave, i find a shiny lv.16 diglett. I couldnt beleive it. Im currently playing the same game, and currently have a lv.55 shiny dugtrio. After emerald came out, i was late to own a game, but managed to grab one and start playing. on the third (or maybe 4th) new game, i find a shiny koffing in the fierry path. At this point i was like, "cool, another shiny" (notice no exclamation point) i was very hapy, but, used to finding them. I restarted the game, (i dont like koffings) (also, can you tell i like to restart my games frequently? lol) and....this is the last time i swear, i find ANOTHER shiny. A Lv.12 electrike. It was sooo cool. I had a Lv. 25 Mightyena that i was trying to raise before i hit the 3rd gym when i found the electrike. I used tackle ( it had yet to KO a pokemon in that area with just one tackle attack) and killed it with a critical hit. I was sad i admit, but i knew i would most likely find one more. So yeah...thats my ongoing shiny story. Has anyone else seen as many as i have?, or am i just lucky?

Yeah... I've only seen one shiny Pokémon. It was the ugliest Feebas I'd ever seen. I killed it accidentally, but in retrospect, I'm glad to have put it out of its misery. After all, I was going for a Milotic, and wasn't sure if the crappy appearance of this little fish would hurt the Beauty stat (Yes, I'm kidding). I dislike the way the shiny Pokémon look (there are a few that are okay), and don't really care if I ever see any again.

I had a really long post in this Topic like 2 Minuts ago, but some thing came up and Shut Down my Comp. It was like a 10 Minute post. So I'm not doing it again so. A short way to say this is,

I have gotten 1 Shiney Drowzee
1 Shiney Machoke
1 Shiney Primeape
And 1 Shiney Zangoose.

I'd seen one shiny Spinda in my Ruby cart, but that was back when Ru/Sa first came out, so we didn't know much about shinies then. So I killed it. I was training my Gardevoir, and she needed the EXP.

I haven't seen any shinies, of course, I only have about 60 hours on ruby and 60 on firered. I've head of people who are in the hundreds who still haven't seen any, so I'm not too down about it.

R/S: Shiny male and female Altaria, male and female Ziggy (from the berry glitch fix at gamestop), Loudred, and my shiny Sableye which is truly spooky

FR/LG: GOt a shiny Pidgeot 51 minutes into the game, also encountered a shiny Geodude around 30 hours later but it exploded before I could try and catch it

Emerald: Haven't seen any shiny pokemon at all yet in like 60 hours or more, but I've spent most of that time attempting to get the Factory Gold.

Ruby: None

Fire Red: after a break of like a year of not playing it, i came across a shiny Heracross in the woods on island 5 or 6. I wish i could trade it over to my emerald, but for some reason i cant trade to r/s/e.

Emerald: During my first game, i came across a shiny Machop, which is now in my second game at a level 100 Machamp. I lucked out on it because it has an ATK increasing nature :)

The ONLY shiny I've encountered in this generationg of games (found several in metal generation) was a red Rhyhron in the Safari Zone of my Fire Red game...and it ran away before I could catch it. I was...less than happy, after that.

here is a constilation. my friend bought one, and the only pokemon he sees are shiny pokemon. he will see a normal as much as some people see shiny pokemon. he has given me a whole bunch.

I have a really hard time beleiving that. It's not every day that someone is lucky enough to run into like 8000 Shiny's in a row before running into a none Shiny. Especially since there about a 1 in 8000 to run into one. That's not exact but it's somewhere above 8000. Maybe it's the other way around dude.

i caught my pink golbat in victory road on emerald just as i was about to exit i was all who this is so rare masterball go ( cuzz i got over a millon on fr ) long story short i got me a lv. 100 crobat that has sucky moves. and i battled a shiny girafarig in the battle dome and i almost lost to it.

I, like Scizandor, who has an awesome signature (But has left my love Vaporeon out), have seen 0 shinies, besides of course the red Gyarados.

I don't really care, though. Plenty of people have no shinies. It's not like I'm the only one. I have one, awesome. I don't, oh well.

I'm perfectly happy when I finally catch that Pokemon only located in one area, and is listed as 'Few'. xD

God. 604 Hours isn't a very long time to not run into a Shiny. Of couse, in Fire Red, I ran into a Shiny Mankey after about 10 minutes of Playing. But instead, try encountering 8000 Wild Pokemon. Once you have encountered 8000 Wild Pokemon then you have the right to say, "I'm just as lucky as most people." Since that is still not as rare as Shinys are. My friend ran into a Shiny Tauros, lucky bum, that guy looks so cool.

And odds aren't set in stone.

The odds may be 1:3, but they may have printed a roll of 9000, and 3000 are winners.

This being said, the odds are still 1:3, but buying 10 of the same ticket in a row doesn't neccesarily (I know I spelled that wrong...) guarantee you 1 winner every 3 tickets your buy, even if they are sequential.

We can apply this to Pokemon. You may encouter 15000 pokemon, and then run into a shiny, and then run into a shiny 4 Pokemon later.

Or you may run into a shiny within 10 minutes.

Or you may never see a shiny becuase either you don't play too much or it just doesn't happen. It's the same principal. 8000 Pokemon doesn't neccesarily guarantee you a shiney, and neither does 16000, 24000, et cetera.

Odds are interesting, informative, but not very meaningful.

How do you know when you pick it it will be shiny...before you send it out when you choose...or when your actually fighting the zigzagoon(poochyena)...cause I will do that too

ive never run into shinies in r/s/e, but encountered a silver krabby, green meowth (which i missed catching because of no box space), and gold pidgey. these were in crystal or silver i think. shinies are cool to have sometimes, but arent worth looking for.

You get shiny starters the same way you get any shiny, by luck.

And 200+ hours doesn't mean anything. Once again, you're just experiencing th normal odds. Somepeople see them, some don't. You don't. It isn't like you're the only one.
