Ok, this is more of a technical question than a game question. I'm having trouble linking up my gba to colosseum. The cord is in, and I'm saved at a pokemon center, but when the game attempts to verify my party it automatically says connection failed. Has anyone else had this happen to them? If so, is there anything I can do to fix it?

If you're trying to trading Pokemon over from your GBA, you can't do that until after you beat the game in Colosseum. But, if you're trying to use GBA Pokemon in Battle Mode, it could be one (or more) of the following:
1, Less than six Pokemon in your GBA party
2, Pokemon holding Mail or Enigma Berry
3, Pokemon at too high a level for the tournament you're trying to enter
4, More than one of the same species of Pokemon in your GBA party

You may want to take a look at the Help Thread Page 1 post #9. There's a short section called " Trading between R/S and Colosseum " that might help you out.

I found that firered works, so it isn't the cable. I was just trying to battle to make sure the cable worked, since it was one of those 3rd party cables, but yeah, firered works, ruby does not.

Did you actually trade between FR and PC or just battle? IDK of any differences between the versions and trading with PC but maybe there are some. Have you tried trading again or only once? If you are sure the cables are ok then maybe double check the other criteria we already posted making sure you are sticking to each and every rule. Hope this helps.

I didn't trade, I just battled. My gf is using the gamecube for Need for Speed, so I won't be able to try Ruby again. The only thing that I could think of was that one of my pokemon was carrying an item, but all mine in FireRed are too. I forgot what item it was, but I took off and will try that when I get the cube back.
