View Full Version : I'm thinking about playing again

As some of you may have noticed, I haven't posted on Pojo since April 17th, and I haven't really been on NetBattle since then either. I was getting a bit tired of pokémon's repetitive nature, so I quit for a while. However, now I'm considering playing again, so I just recently signed on NetBattle and found the following team was there.

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 216 HP / 56 Atk / 124 Def / 52 Spd / 60 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Flying]
- Rest
- Thunder Wave

Suicune @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 32 Spd / 96 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Ice Beam
- Substitute
- Surf

Gengar @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 48 HP / 136 Atk / 76 Spd / 248 SAtk
Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Explosion
- Giga Drain
- Ice Punch
- Thunderbolt

Regice @ Leftovers
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 112 Def / 20 Spd / 64 SAtk / 60 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Psych Up
- Rest
- Thunder

Rhydon @ Leftovers
Trait: Lightning Rod
EVs: 216 HP / 252 Atk / 32 Def / 8 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Focus Punch
- Rock Blast
- Substitute

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Def / 116 Spd / 60 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Psychic
- Thunderbolt
- Wish

I can't really remember using the team, though any fixes, hate, or whatever would be appreciated, since I'm not aware of recent metagame changes (I doubt there are any ;x) and I'm sure my prediction skills have gone straight down the toilet.

I'll be offline from July 16th to around the 24th for personal reasons, though.

Also, the fact that Pojo censored ***********.com is fairly annoying. And Clown Master, I need a link to the CCC again, I don't know how I lost it. Sorry.

You know the deal =D

Everything's cool except, just watch out for aero =/

Good call, Goku. I think once I get used to predicition again, I should be alright against Aero since I have stuff that's resistant/immune to everything it has. But you're right, I need to be careful against it.

(You still use g0-gUrt on NB, right? I can't get on again until next week but I just want to be sure. BTW, nice Haruko avatar. ;D)

In about a week or so you'll get the prediction back. Im using Dark Sim for now on.

Welcome Back, PhazonElite, I know I'm not the only one glad to see you here again. I'll look forward to some good posts when you return. We all take a break at some point. Don't worry too much about being stale, I'm sure you're still plenty good enough to make lots of players wet their pants.

BTW, great sig quote.

Gyarados @ Leftovers/Liechi Berry
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 84 HP, 252 Atk, 172 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Flying]
- Dragon Dance
- Taunt/Roar/Flail

Taunt can keep you from getting hit by Will-O'-Wisp while you DD. Roar will beat other Roarers if you DD while they switch in their Roarer, because then you're always faster. Flail-Liechi works well if you take a big hit that doesnt kill you while you DD.
For future reference, unless the pokemon's HP is 2x both of it's defenses (or if you want to keep your HP at x16 for Lefties), you should raise HP by 2 points rather than 1 point per defense.

Suicune @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 240 HP, 80-84 Def, 4-8 Spd, 180 SpAtk
240 HP, 176 Def, 4-8 Spd, 84-88 SpAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Ice Beam/Roar
- Rest/Roar
- Surf

If you go with Ice Beam, go with 180 EVs in SpAtk, because then you can always OHKO Salamence. Otherwise, use the other. I think you should go with CM/Rest/Roar/Surf, because you have Regice.

Gengar @ Leftovers/Petaya Berry
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP, 252 SpAtk, 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Hypnosis/Psychic
- Giga Drain
- Ice Punch
- Thunderbolt

Regice @ Leftovers/Chesto Berry
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP, 216-220 Def, 4-8 Spd, 16 SpAtk, 16 SpDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Psych Up/Toxic/Thunder Wave/Counter
- Rest
- Thunder/bolt

Go with extra Defense for Counter. Personally, I like Thunderbolt better, but Thunder does OHKO Gyarados...

Rhydon @ Leftovers/Blackbelt/Liechi Berry
Trait: Lightning Rod
EVs: 212 HP, 252 Atk, 36 Def, 8 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Focus Punch
- Rock Blast
- Substitute

Beware of Ice Beam Blissey. Blackbelt lets you OHKO Blissey everytime, even with max HP+Def.

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Def / 116 Spd / 60 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Psychic
- Thunderbolt
- Wish

I have no experience with Jirachi whatsoever...

Your teams never need real fixes.. But like Goku said, Phear Aero until you get ued to predicting again. I'll PM you the link in a second...

Btw, if anyone who faces you doesn't wet their pants, I'd be very suprised. xD

HAI PHAZON I HAVE NOT SEEN YOU IN A LONG TIME YOU ARE COOL LOL

If you ever get bored with Pokemon, play GSC UU, I swear it's so much fun and it never gets old. Especially if you're actually competent in the area, unlike me.

Cool team, seems vaguely familiar...

Gyarados does best with Taunt and Magneton support. =x (Y'know, for Skarm, Taunt to prevent Spikes, then switch in Maggy on the Drill Peck, yeah.) 'course, that'd probably be expected, but meh.

I always liked Rest more than 101 HP subs on cune, as neat as they are, just because it allows you to do crazy stuff like force struggles. Then again, that can get somewhat tedious.

I like sub on Gengar simply because of the astronomical number of immunities it gives him (and incidentally it pairs nicely with Focus Punch which IMO is superior to m00b).

Regice's Psyche Up on paper looks great, it messes with so many CMers and Cursers, and yet I can never get it to work for me (probably due to my lousy prediction). Thunder=instant win

I prefer SubstituteSwords DanceEarthquakeRock Slide on Rhydon, but whatever. But use Rock Head, seriously.

Jirachi gets 101 HP subs which allow him to set up on so many things and sweep like nuts.

Anyway, yeah, nice to see more competent players here, in case you don't know [PK] Green just recently got banned. ;.

Also, not to "toot my own horn" (whatever that means), but I'd say it's worth mentioning that I didn't once in this post mention

H***** P**** [G****]

(as opposed to, say, Giga Drain) on Gengar.

If you get my drift.

I missed you, Phazon. :(
Gyarados @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 216 HP / 56 Atk / 124 Def / 52 Spd / 60 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)/
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Flying]
- Taunt
- DD

Suicune @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 128 Def / 32 Spd / 96 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Ice Beam
- Roar
- Surf

Just the standard.

Gengar @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 48 HP / 136 Atk / 76 Spd / 248 SAtk
Hasty Nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Explosion
- Giga Drain
- Ice Punch
- Thunderbolt

Put HP:Ghost over Splosion if you want. It wouldn't make much of a difference but **** the pesky Psychics.

Regice @ Leftovers
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 112 Def / 20 Spd / 64 SAtk / 60 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Psych Up/Calm Mind
- Rest
- Thunder

Not bad. Not bad at all.

Rhydon @Salac Rhydon will need this desperately
Trait: Lightning Rod
EVs: 216 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Def / 32 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake/Rock Slide
- Focus Punch
- Rock Blast
- Substitute

The standard Rhydon set.

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Def / 116 Spd / 60 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Psychic
-HP:Ground
- Wish
HP isn't used on ubers that much but for Jirachi you need an owning strategy for Fire types, preferably Entei.

You've got the Natures and stats down pat pretty good. Welcome back ;)

SC, there's a lot of things I could say about your post...but all I'm gonna point out is that Gengar learns Shadow Ball, simply because it needs no further explanation.

(lol)

All ghost types can learn shadowball, remember that.

Wow, I was forced to go on "vacation" for an additional week, so I'm late. The rest of this summer is going to be chaotic for me, so I don't think I'll be able to post often until September.

Thanks for the link to the CCC CM, and hello again SA. Ronin, I forgot that GSC UU actually exists. ;x

After looking through everyone's suggestions and having a brief time to test, I'm dropping Explosion on Gengar for FP, and Psych Up seems to be working nicely for me on Regice. I'm thinking about dropping Gyarados completely, but I'm still testing replacements. I used Suicune rarely in the matches I played, so I have to test it a bit more to see if Subbing is really worth it in the long run. Even though Sub Jirachi sweeps well, I'm finding Wish to be incredibly useful for this particular team, but I tend to alternate between the two anyway.
