I just got back from Wizard World Los Angeles...let me tell you one thing, unless you felt like waiting up to three-four hours in line just to be told they were out of Galactus, you didn't get one. The line yesterday morning was instantly several hundred people long...looks like a lot of ebay scalpers sent in people to buy up as many as they could get. thousands of people were unable to buy one (even though the price ended up being seventy-five bucks instead of the hundred we thought it would be). You were allowed to purchase 3 boosters of dc Unleashed too, but it was either wait in the galactus line, or don't get anything.

I've got more to post in a little while, plus pictures...but my laptop is acting up, and I need to reboot it (yet again).

I know I shouldn't be surprised. However, I am very disappointed to hear this. I'll be attending GenCon Indy this year. Assuming WizKids will even have any available at that date, I can only imagine the lines will be even worse. :(

Looks like my only real option is the route, and that's just sad really.

They'll have some available, I'm sure, they are heavily advertising the big G at all of their appearances this summer...who knows, by then maybe the scalpers will get discouraged, or WK will wise up and make it a lottery type thing. I don't know. I do know they were extremely overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of people wanting to buy one...

I didn't play in any tournaments, but I did catch a peek at the sealed booster Draft for Unleashed, everyone was quite pleased I think...there must have been 80-100 people playing as well...

After spending the last hour or so reading threads on several sites, Wizkids has really screwed the pooch on this one. Pretty much everyone except the 150 people who actually got their mitts on Galactus is majorly p.o.ed. Wizkids hasn't said anything other that "we told you it was limited", but then went on to advertise the heck out of the thing. No one has had anything official to say anywhere since Saturday night when Dorcas, the WK rep whom I spoke to several times about trying to just get a stinkin' interview with someone (and whom I emailed about same earlier in the week and was told 'I'll be easy to find at the convention'. She was about as easy to find as...well a Galactus figure, which is to say not at all) well, Dorcas posted at another website on Friday that Saturday would be better than that night, when they blew out of their supply in about 10 minutes (this I didn't know on Saturday).

Thing is, I couldn't have afforded to buy one anyway. Funds are limited right now, and I just started a new job...I'll definitely be able to buy one in San Diego, that is if I go...the thing is, the company hasn't done anything right recently to appease their core base of fans. The way they're going, Heroclix will be dead in a year, tops. Don't believe me? Check out the forums of their own official website for the venom...it's bad folks, very bad.

Did they at least give Galactus away as a tournament prize?

Heaven forbid someone who actually plays the game were to end up with one.

Seriously, it seems like they've done everything they could to make this only available to scalpers.

Yes, they did...one tournament prize was Galactus...90 or so people were in the tournament...I don't know which is worse, a 1 in 90 shot or a 1 in 200 shot?

From my point of view, I'd rather have a player be the one who gets it. With the people standing in line, who know how many of them actually even know's who Galactus is other than a tidy profit on eBay.
