If I had to make one suggestion, it would be to keep some older characters occasionally showing up. "I'll battle you again someday" yeah right. XD

As many might have noticed, Pokémon episodes after the Kanto season have generally been substandard and lacking in ideas, storyline, plot, etc. What improvements for the show would you suggest that might bring it closer to what it was?

For one, they could bring back Misty. Removing an original main character was probably one of the worst things they could have done.

Improvements would be to cut down on how often Team Rocket is shown.

About Misty:
**SPOILERS**

Misty comes back in about 30 episodes. She is only in it for about 5 episodes when they go to the Togepi Paradise. Togepi has evolved. She has a Gyrados that knows Fire Blast, and then she leaves once again.

Ah, well I guess they haven't completely ruined it then... Team Rocket has become more of comic relief than anything else. I think they should have a seperate story going for them. Maybe a bit more character development too.

Well, look at Misty, they improved her pokemon, so why not do the same for Team Rocket. Or besides that, make them actually battle for real like Ash had to for the Earth Badge. That was an awesome battle.

Yeah, Kanto episodes were very well put together. They had original and entertaining ideas... the newer ones are just the same repetitious themes over and over again. I'd really like to see Ash's Pokémon evolve, become tamer, and lead him to some amazing victory over the league. That would be awesome.

Im loving this Quick Reply. But yea, I would love to see Ash become much more mature, and actually capture pokemon when he has the chance.

I definitely agree with most of these things. It would be nicer if TR could do something right for once, instead of always failing and acting like complete idiots. If the storyling were as cool as the Indigo League eps, the series would attract much more attention. Personally, I think Max should be thrown into the mouth of an angry Gyarados... :0

Yeah, they should definitely develop the story more fully by bringing back old characters. The show would become deeper and more involved if they add more main characters.

The older characters show up in the specials, but they haven't been aired anywhere outside of Japan yet. I wish they sped up the season, it's taking longer and longer for them to get to the next Gym. I remember when the Boulder and Cascade Badge battles were almost back to back. Now, they walk around forever.

Yes, in the Indigo League episodes it only took Ash five episodes for him to start his journey to getting his first badge, while for the Pokémon Advanced it took him about 15 episodes. Also, the time it takes for Ash to fight in Pewter City and Cerulean City is only two episodes, with the Clefairy and the Moon Stone episode in between.

Yeah, it is kinda upsetting to hear that they'll battle again but they never do although they did revive some people back then like when they briefly brought Todd back to search for that Articuno (even though that was a while back). The show gets really monotonous though with Team Rocket always blasting off again. I would like to see them actually succeed in stealing/catching a pokemon without having to have them blunder at the end of every episode. They should also try to come up with more unique plots instead of Pikachu using his Thunderbolt to zap away at the enemies or Ash always having to come to the rescue. I think Brock should definitely play a bigger role instead of being the cooking sidekick. The show has too many people who just show up and leave, never coming back. It kinda gets a little annoying after a while.

Definitely. They've exhausted their old themes and ideas through consistent repitition, and it certainly does take far too long between each gym battle. This would actually be okay if they were developing some sort of story out of the show, but the only purpose "inter-gym" episodes have right now is to fill time.

The old trainers should make a reappearance often enough to give them an important role. It's stupid to have them around for one episode, then tell Ash "they'll meet again someday", and be done with it. Even if they were to just all appear in, say, the League finals, it would still make a lot of difference.

I'd like to see more of an teen storyline backing the show. I like the show fine just you watch it and think wow, this cartoon is not for me. The pokemon battles aren't always as good either. Some battles are actually nailbiters but not as often. Maybe if they spice it up with a little bit of gorish (not heavy) just enough to make the battle more realistic. Think about it if your getting razorleafed, burned, or shot with ice your going to bleed. just my opinion.

Drama would be a nice addition, definitely. Just as long as they don't overdo it...

Ash only has one of his original pokémon with, Brock importance as a character has dropped significantly, and Misty's role has been "replaced" with a new character named May. Her brother Max also travels with them. They took 15 episodes to get to the first gym, and though they have a couple nice storylines in some of them, they are basically repeating the same basic plots over and over again. They are not nearly as good as Kanto episodes, though a bit better than Johto in some ways.

If I could change something about Pokemon, I'd first knock down Pikachu's battle abilities. When you think about it, after the first ten episodes or so, Pikachu becomes extremely cheap. It's nearly the only Pokemon Ash ever uses.

Speaking of Ash, I'd make him more intelligent. I mean, he's ten years old but has the mentality of a five-year-old. For one, he doesn't take the opportunities to catch more Pokemon (ie. Clefairy). He also need to learn to use diverity in his battles. I seriously wonder if he would've made it as far as he has if he didn't Pikachu. You have to admit he's dependent on the little electric rodent.

I'd also like to see the characters grow older... Ash starts out at 10 and hundreds of episodes later he doesn't look any different, aside from a change of clothes.

i think the target of pokemon is for more like kids to 12. Its probably wasnt paticulary looking for teenagers ect. to be watching it on a regular basis. That woudl explain why teh show is kiddish.

its made so kids of 5-10 will watch it and let their parents let them watch it. Ive noticed that a lot of the pokemn fans (anime) are in elementary school...

Uhh...the original version is for people of any age, and is for older viewers. The American version is Americanized to its crappy as can possibly be while being aimed at a totally different age bracket.

Misty should be put back, Max should be eaten by Seviper, Team Rocket should get 6 PoKEMON each, Team Aqua and Magma should be shown more often, the Specials should be featured, May should act more mature, Ash should get taller and more mature, Brock should battle a lot, May should have gotten that Swablu, the gang gets 6 Pokemon each, Pikachu should leave for a couple of episodes, Team Rocket should win, and Ash should lose to the gym leaders more!

I see your point, but they won't change that kindof stuff because, a) there are many new people (little kids specifically) watching the show now. They don't wana see a 15 year old kid playing with little bugs, they want to see the hero as someone their own age, something that they can possibly reach. Little kids see more of a hero in someone their own age then someone older. b) they have put away a large portion of the theme of change. Seriously, Kanto just had everything running in and out, mainly characters, but the pokemon themselves change; change so they will never be different. I don't see any of that in Advanced (except the characters leaving, but that was at the beginning. The only thing changing about them is that they left, no change in personallity, etc. In Kanto, things literally changed in the middle of an episode. [That's why it was my favorite series, it was the most exciting.]) Maybe I missed some evolutions and stuff like that, but nothing that negative (or positive none the less)has happened. They could definately reintroduce negative change.

To change to non change, I don't see why they don't bring back characters like Todd. Seriously, he saved Ash's life! And yet all everyone does is never mention it, or laugh about it. I know he came back for an episode, but they could at least bring him back again. And Gary! Gary should really be the second most important character as he is the other side of the conflict with Ash. But, of course, kid shows don't want to depict two people clashing with such force. Oh well.

Hm... I guess you're right. Most of the first fans have grown outside their target audience. How unfortunate.

i wish like ash would get a cool pokemon for once, like he always gets the lamer ones, i know this is digimon but renamon was cool, y cant ash have a pokemon like that, and like he aways beats the gym leaders and teaches them something, i wish he would get pummled more, like make that darn pikachu cry, cause i am so tired of pikachu, maybe if the little bugger would do somethign or evolve cause hes not cute anymore jsut a camera hog, who aint that great but ash relies omn all the time

Yeah evolve them fully and then NOT GET RID OF THEM. Ahem...Charizard...Ahem...Butterfree...Achoo...Pid geot. Ash makes me sick, let's see if i can find the weakest pokemon ever, lol.

You have a point. They don't really seem set on giving him the strongest Pokémon.

But then again, the whole quest would be too easy for him (more so than it is now) if he had a superpower team.

Here are some new improvements I want for Pokemon:

-Misty to really train Psyduck instead of giving it abuse all the time for not seeming to be intelligent if she really wanted pokemon who can fight
-Ash to lose his rude and overconfident attitude
-The t.v. show to become better animated like the movies were
-Pokemon speaking the human language
-Cut down on Jesse and James appearances
