Hi ppl, I need some help with making a battle frontier team and I have a question about STAB.
First off all, STAB is same type attack bonus and according to what i saw on serebii.net, it seems like its half of the origional power added on to the origional power. So earthquake is normally 100, half of 100 is 50 and added on is 150. Now is my question, Say you have someone who is not ground type or part ground. (Its not just for ground type but i like ground so im using it as my example.) So say Aggron, who is Steel/Rock uses earthquake it would be 100 because there is no STAB. Now say Rhydon uses earthquake. He is Rock/Ground, only part ground, even though he is part ground is earthquakes power still 150, or is it say rather than being half added on, its a quarter or something. And then for Donphan, Pure Ground, uses earthquake its 150. But say Donphan became part ground and part of another type, becasue he's not a pure ground would earthquake still be 150? So basically, do you have to be a pure type to get the full effect of STAB or does being only part of that certain make a difference to the STAB?
And my last thing. I need a suggestion foir my battle frontier team.
So far my team is,
Metagross (Carnage)
Male Level 70
Nature: I think its hardy, Its the one thats +At. -Sp.
Ability: Clear Body.
Item:?
Moveset:
Meteor Mash
Brick Break
Sludge Bomb
Psychic
Alakazam (Techno)
Male lv 70
Nature: Modest +Sp At. -At.
Ability: Syncronize
Item:?
Moveset:
Psychic
Thunder Punch
Fire Punch
Ice Punch
Then i hade aggron as part of my team but i feel his stats arent good enough, and anywayes, a strong earthquake would be able to take out my entire team So maybe someone flying or something. But i want a pure ground with high attack and learns earthquake. So can you help me out plz. Thx.

STAB is the move's original power plus half the move's original power even if the Pokémon is a dual-type.

K Thx. But where can I find a Thick Club? And for Alakazam, wouldn't it be better to take off Ice Punch or something to put in Calm Mind instead of Fire Punch cuz it's supper effective againts Bug. One of Alakazams Weaknesses. Thx for ur help.

Thick Clubs can only be obtained in FR/LG I believe. When you catch a wild Cubone/Marowak, it may have one on it...

Thunder/Ice Punch covers waaay more types than Fire/Thunderpunch. Don't worry about Bug-type Pokémon so much. A STABed Psychic will OHKO them most of the time, especially after a couple of Calm Minds. And with a Marowak with Rock Slide, you'll definitely OHKO them, as most Bugs that would be used in the Battle Frontier are part Flying, giving them a 4x weakness to Rock. Besides, you probably won't encounter Bug trainers very often anyway.
Thick Club can be found attached to wild Cubone and Marowak in FR/LG. It doubles Cubone's and Marowak's Attack score, like an automatic Swords Dance every battle that can't be Hazed away.

Ok, but whats the chance/percentage that they are goig to be holding it? I've tried using Theif on over 45 different wild Cubones and Marowaks and no Thick Club yet. I've probably tried about 50 times but positivly more than 45.

Is the Thief Pokémon holding something? If so, Thief won't steal an item. Also, Covet is better because it has more PP. Snorlax learns it at level 45. Spinda can breed for it, and Linoone learns it by level-up, too.

Where are wild cubones?

Cubone can be found in Pokémon Tower. They're quite rare, though. Marowak is in Victory Road, and is slightly uncommon in rarity.

I got my Thick Club in Victory Road where a certain Marowak was especially beating up on me. I switched in my Butterfree and Thief'd one off it.

Well, I finally got a Thick Club. And no, the whole time my Pokemon using Theif had no Item. And Judging by the PP I used up, it took 63 tries. Also, both Wild Cubone's and Marowak's can be found at Sevault Canyon as well. (On Seven Island) There fairly common to. Now I'm just breeding a bunch of Cubone's until I get a Male Cubone, Rock Head Ability and Adamant Nature. See you next year when I finally get one! (Maybe I'll be lucky for the first time in my life on Pokemon. Bad things always seem to happen to me.)
