It was kind of fun in the first two season, but I stopped watching it since there are way too many episodes. It reminded me of DBZ a little. Oh and way too many flashbacks.

Well to someone who has been with dbz forever, Naruto is a welcome addition to my life. But I do agree with the last part. My TWO criticisms of the series thus far are that there are WAY too many flashbacks, and that there should be more Shikamaru and less Sakura....but thats unavoidable.

Ch. 267 is out. All three, Sasori Sakura and the old woman get more depth to them. I'm really starting to like this Sasori character as well.

Naruto is annoying in the fact it does do that Flashback alot, but given the amount of content through it all, they are sometimes necesary. This is namely for the little ones that watch over in Japan. Most of us older viewers usually only need like 1 or 2 reminders of something in a story for us to remember it.

One of my biggest thumbs up to Naruto is that "big" fight scenes aren't length over multiple episodes (Goku vs. Freiza anyone?) and that they don't constantly raise the bar of the "most powerful" enemies. OH NO FRIEZA!! CELL!! BUU!!! SUPER 17!!! OMEGA SHENRON!!! They just keep bringing in crazier enemies :D

Currently, there is no word on if/when Naruto goes to Adult Swim. Currently, it is only slated to be the Saturday Night line up, right up there with Justice League Unlimited and Teen Titans.

The new chapter of the Mangas makes me wonder and worry about how stable Sasori is. Those first 2 puppets he ever made....just creepy.....

I suspect an emotional background flashback on Sasori. His parents probably died when he was young, and he made puppets of them so that they would still "be alive" even if its a fake existence.

Possibly, but I think its more that he wanted the feel of control over others. His parents could have been very over-bearing and he hated the way they constantly controlled him. So he learned Puppet Techniques from his grandmother and then turned on his parents with his skills, With his first puppets he ever made being flawlessly created, he became intoxicated by the way he constructed puppets, as he was clearly incredibly adempt at making puppets and such and then went nutz. He left Sand behind and ventured on his own, constantly trying to construct the "Perfect Puppet" sicneobviosuly his parents weren't perfect. He hooked up with Akatsuki as they gave him much more oppertunity and freedom of using his techniques. Akatsuki wanted him as it was obvious his skills could help capture anything they needed.

At least that is my theory on him.

Cartoon Network Schedules Naruto

Viz Media has announced that the Cartoon Network will premier Naruto episodes 1 & 2 on Saturday, September 10th from 9 to 10 PM. The episodes will then repeat from 10 to 11 PM. New episodes of Naruto will air every Saturday at 9PM beginning September 17th.

Now you can get all the Naruto you want in English. Not for free though. Ever heard of a bill?

Glad the last filler was over. I didn't like it very much, but it was better than Tea Country IMO. Now we're getting great fillers that involve Konoha ninjas, waaaay better than conflicts and plotlines that never happened in the manga.

I thought the 3rd Kazekage would be more impresive. I hope something big happens in the manga soon. I think it would be more emotional than just getting revived and everyone gets happy. Or let him stay dead;).

Everything starts with the manga, but I, myself, prefer the anime...It just makes everything a little more clear. Sometimes, its difficult to see exactly what is being done in those small panels. Fight scenes don't come off very well in the manga at all. That being said, its the manga that spawns everything else, so lets hope that it remains sucessful.

Well said juggmon. I too prefer the anime to the manga, not to say I don't like the manga, because I check Naruto Manga Returns several times a week to see if the new chapter is up. But the anime can do things the manga can't, and I can't overlook that. Harken back to episode 133, the infamous Naruto vs. Sasuke fight. You won't find that kind of flow of action in the manga.
Outside of action, the drama in the anime is more easily felt than in the manga, thanks to music and voice actors. It's hard to feel the drama when its just words reading in your head.
My bottomline, the manga is good and entertaining, but if I was stuck on an island and could only choose between the manga and the anime, I would choose the anime.

I don't prefer anime or manga. I like them both to put it simply. Anime is not free like some people like to clain. That is to say, unless you steal your cable or just download. Real anime fans have some appreciation for what they like and spend some money because they want thier creators making more of the stuff they love. But that's another topic.

If I was stuck on and island and could on choose between anime manga, I'd kill the guys only giving me one choice, read the manga, watch the anime, and eat him so I could survive.

Naruto will debut on Cartoon Network on... Saturday, Sept. 10, at 9:00pm, as part of the Toonami block. Episode 1 will run at 9:00pm, and Episode 2 will run at 9:30pm. Yeah, two in a row. Then, Cartoon Network will repeat Episode 1 at 10:00pm and Episode 2 at 10:30pm.

The following Saturday, Sept. 17, Naruto will settle into its regular weekly broadcast schedule: 9:00pm.

Some news from Comic-Con Naruto's first dvd will be released in March 2006. It will be the edited version. There will be 4 episode per volume and new volumes will be released every other month. Uncut episodes will be released in Box sets.
The first Box set will be released in July 2006 i think there was a typo on there slide unless they are releasing a box set this month. . There will be 13 episodes per box Set.

Ep143 was boring IMO. I hated seeing Asuma lying in the hospital bed, but I loved seeing Kakashi holding the 2 criminals in his arms. I just want this prison stuff to end. Also, Mizuki seems so different than before. But he's still worthless. A guy who gets enraged by a 13yr old who is a good person.

Yeah, girls almost always do the voice of young boys. Even in the American dubbing process: Nancy Cartwright does the voice of Bart Simpson and all his school buddies.

Girls are really good at sounding like young boys any more you really cant tell the difference, I know that in like all of the shows that I watch with little boys in them any more are done by girls...over all I enjoy the voice actor of Yahikos voice in Rurouni Kenshin :D Though Zazu in Magic Kight Rayearth has a really smooth voice!

YTV has accquired the rights to air Naruto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 :D

According to the "Anime Master" section of YTV's website, it states that it will air in the Fall.

Being the "guy who has to depend on YTV & friends to watch any anime at all," I'm really happy at this moment, as YTV has accquired 2/3 of the anime I was hoping for them to get (they also got GitS, still missing FMA). Sure it might not be an uncut version, but I'm sure YTV is quite aware of the popularity of the show (which probably led them to get the rights in the first place), & they'll take whatever they can get.

Fighting is ridiculously simple. The buttons are all the same for the characters.

Executing specials are Triangle (x1-3) + Circle. How easy is that? Specials are funny and cool. Kakashi's 1000 years of pain is hilarious.

The game starts out with the third season(?) when Naruto is getting trained by Jiraiya for the Chuunin competition. I stopped at Orochimaru v.s. Hokage.

I thought Budokai was made by Atari in US, but Bandai distributes them in Japan. It's actually Dimps that worked on Budokai. Then again, the Naruto games on the PS2 are from Bandai too. TOMY makes the GCN ones (which I hear are way better, and I want them because I have no PS2).

Sakura pulled the woll over Sasori's eyes, and destroyed the puppet of the 3rd Kazekage... Any thoughts on the outcome of the fight? I'm pretty sure that Sakura wins, but what about the old woman? Will she die, or will she survive with Sakura? Or is Sasori just going to kill them both? And what of Kakashi and Naruto?

And when are we going to see Sasuke again? Is he with Orochimaru or what? And is it going to come down to Itachi being in a fight, or about to get into a fight with someone, and Sasuke comes in to fight him?

I'm confused, and wanting answers!!!

He's not really dead. Remember Zabusa going to a temporary death state because of Haku? It's like that for Sasuke.

Yeah there are ways to bring back people to life, but they're really bad methods.

Well what do you know, Canada's actually airing it before the USA. That usually never happens. However, Canada will still be an episode behind the USA (we won't get 2 episodes in the premiere day like the USA. :rolleyes: )

I'll start watching the subs soon, as I want to compare the differences between the sub & dub.

Hopefully Viz/ShoPro will provide us Canadians with an uncut version, like they did for InuYasha. :p

Anyway, I still have to reserve judgement until I see what changes they have made, but from what I have heard, they have done a decent job (kudos to ShoPro for keeping the musical score)

I also got the chance to watch the first couple episodes of Naruto. They were quite decent. :) I know what to expect now & see if YTV/ShoPro made any stupid cuts.

Naruto has been delayed in Canada until September 16th. On September 9th they'll be showing back to back episodes of Inuyasha. Then Naruto will premire next week at 9:30 pm.

Alright, there is something that has been on my mind for a while... We know that Naruto got back from his 3 years training with Jiraiya, and instantly went on a hunt for the Akatsuki, and he's been doing that. Were's everyone else? I want a chance to see other people!!!

Were's Kiba, Shino, and most importantly, Were's Hinata? She had the biggest crush on Naruto... I wanna see if that leads anywere!!!

Watch episode 147-148 to find out what Hinata's up to (apparently she's been taking ballet lessons or something)

Just read chapter 272. Alright, this fight looked cool in the beginning, but now it's just dragging. No flashbacks or whatever, but it's taking WAY longer than it should. Just hurry up and finish the fight already, we still have to get to Naruto and Kakashi vs. Deidara. I mean, what happened to fights like Gaara vs. Deidara or Team Gai vs. Kisame or Team 7 vs. Itachi (which were all cooler BTW) that were rapped up so quickly? This fight isn't nearly as interesting as those 3, but it's dragging on longer than any of them.

I don't know why evertyone is complaining so much of sakura x sasori. Its a cool fight. And when you complain about length, its shorter than the Zabuza fight, and i think still shorter, and definitly more interesting than the last sasuke fight (>.<). Think about it, Sasori is a freakin AKATSUKI member, he's taken down hokages and whole villages, he is not some pansy, he aint going down easy, oi.

I have yet to read the manga, but I heard it's way better than the anime. I've watched about 140 or so of the anime episodes, and I really like it. I think the only anime I like better is Cowboy Bebop. From watching the anime, Gaara is my favorite character.

I just started watching Naruto recently (my friend forced me, the evil girl I was trying to stay away from long series) and I am really enjoying it. Of course I am only on episode 79 so I am not up to the later episodes that some people seem not to like too much.

Anyways we all know Naruto is going to be edited on tv :( but I at least hope the english voice cast will be good since the Japanese cast is excellent. Someone at animenewsnetwork gave positive feedback for Naruto's VA.

I was a little disappointed that Steven Blum is no longer playing Kakashi :(

Anyways, I finally got my butt of and started watching the rest of the filler (145+) All I can say is they really ruined Mizuki, but he does look funny as a tiger man/old wrinkly man. Well, I'm glad this one was over. I didn't expect anything really great from it, but it's better than the last filler arc with Arashi and stuff. And now they're off to find the Bikouchuu. Anything with Shino's team is awesome, so I have a feeling I'm gonna enjoy the coming episodes. The anime is building up Hinata's character. w00t

I wouldn't give up all hope just yet. Viz has a generally decent record with it's teen shows like Inuyasha. The voices seem fine and music probably won't be replaced, so the only thing I'd worry about would be edits. At least it can't be worse than One Piece or Cardcaptor Sakura.

Anime n00bs/posers/etc. aren't new to the fandom. The same sort of thing's happened before, like with Gundam Wing.

There are 150 episodes. And yes, have been running filler arcs lately. I heard that they aren't that good so you may want to skip them.

I agree with Ace of Spades Naruto will be treated well by Viz they won't be doing what 4kids is doing with One Piece plus if you don't like the dub Viz has already annouced that they will be releasing the uncut episodes in box sets starting next July.

Naruto's voice isn't that bad. It actually reminds me of the Japanese voice. Its Mizuki and Sensei's(forgot his name) that i'm not to keen on. They should be a bit deeper IMO.

The good thing is they did show some blood. I don't care if there are some edits, but if you edit the blood out completely than cetain scenes won't be the same.

Omg your right that is the worst thing ever his voice is so horrible lets give them the 4kids treatment already because, they've ruined the show before it even premired. Why watch the dub now your gonna hate it whether its good or not.

People will never be happy with anything that is imported from Japan and dubbed into English. It is the simple reality we must live with. What I dont understand is why people actually take these subs as official translations, word for word. I am sure that the people that illegally sub animes can add in certain words or sayings to make it seem better than what the original actually said. Naruto is being treated well for being dubbed. They knew the history and the huge fanbase it had so they wont screw this up outside of using English VA's.

I liked Iruka's VA....Naruto's does sound too whiny. As for Mizuki's, when you have that much problem pronouncing Naruto, you aren't even worth grading IMO. Anyways, I liked some of what I saw...Blood was present (which makes the show a little more realistic)....I have to see a few episodes though to judge completely. **crosses fingers that ShoPro and co. don't screw up completely** (if they don't, Naruto will be the next DBZ no doubt about it)

Seriously though, I understand the point you are trying to get across. From what I read in the recent Shonen Jump, the show might be done better than I expected (but i still dislike that voice actor's portrayal of Naruto).

btw, sometimes I do think that the dub is superior to the subbed version...For example, I hated the subbed version of Rurouni Kenshin and Trigun...I really appreciated the voice acting for the dubs of those series.

@ shanx: Um, do you have a crystal ball somewhere that predicts that Naruto won't be bigger than DBZ? If not, then you really can't unequivocally state that Naruto won't be bigger than DBZ. Also, I'm speaking as someone who has watched the entire series and read all the manga available to date and I believe that there are elements that are present in this show which were also present in DBZ which can make it at least as big as DBZ was in North America if not bigger.

I knew you were a big One piece fan lol anyway you don't have to worry about Naruto. Even though their will be edits on the TV version they will be releasing an on uncut version on dvd so Naruto will end up nothing like One Piece. 4kids refuses even to release an uncut version of One Piece on dvd.

It buggs me because the only place that I would be able to watch it is at my aunts house, and she will be home, and she doesn't want "cartoons" on her TV. Naruto and the Hokage's voices are pretty close to the Japanese VAs IMO, they got all the pronunciation right (except for the announcers... ), no edits except for blood as far as I can tell, they keep the background music afaik... man. The intro and ending are decent.

This was my first time Watching Naruto and I thought it was pretty good it actually lived up to its expectations. I like Naruto's character he's an underdog type of character and "underdog type of characters are great. I liked the "sexy jutsu" technique that was great expecially when he used it with the shadow clone technique to form the "Harem Justsu" against that guy in the second episode. The minor edits and were ok. The opening and ending being edited were to be expected. The one thing I realy loved that CN did was that they gave Naruto the DBZ treatment by giving it the TV-PG rating it gives the show more leway in future episodes. Heres to hoping One Piece finally fails on 4kids TV and Toonami becomes its perminant home and it gets the same treatment Naruto and DBZ get.

They pronounce "Naruto" the way it's supposed to be pronounced. With less emphasis on the "ru". Tom says it naRUto. NAruto is correct as far as I know.

They say Lord Hokage because in the japanese anime, he was referred to as Hokage-sama ("-sama" essentially means lord and that suffix is an honorary term applied to people of high standing)...by using Lord Hokage all the time, they are just trying to emphasize that he is special to them.

I REALLY disliked this dub. I gave it a chance, but was appalled by it. I very much deplore the pronunciations, the childish voices(even though they are children), and the sound effects as well. The edits I didnt find too much fault with. But I will not be revisiting the dub in the near future. I'll stick to the manga and the fansubs.

On that note, Sakura was amazing in the latest chapter.

Okay, I was impressed. They kept all the BGM. When I heard they would be keeping most of the music, I was sure they'd take some away and add their own, but I guess it was just the opening/ending they were talking about, which is a shame, I just loved the 1st ending. The opening song is, kindy catchy, sorta reminds me of 99%. And I can tell they added more original music in place of ROCKS or somewhere near commercials.

The 1st episode was great. I like how they got Michael Reisz to do Mizuki. 2nd episode was I think, better handled. I mean, they kept the HAREM!! Crap, I can't think of what to say. I still prefer the original Japanese version. In fact, I think everyone does. But this is a very good dub, by most standards. I mean hey, at least it wasn't 4Kids right?

-Sexy no Jutsu/Harem kept

I give it an 8/10. It wasn't bad at all. May be a few cases or pronunciatons and voices, but it's the episode that's usually important. At least it wasn't One Piece, with combined episodes and a rap song.

Did you notice after Naruto used the jutsu on Iruka, right when he yelled at him for doing it he had 2 pieces of paper in his nose to stop the bleeding but it wasnt edited ou?

Overall I think the people that glorify the illegal fansubs* and think that the dubbing is crap should just not mention it. I have seen the Japanese version of the show and I think its pretty good and I think the only reason people praise the Japanese version is because its just that JAPANESE.

Of course the American VA isn't going to match the Japanese VA perfectly. They're different people. But I think it was a close enough match. As for the rest of what you said, you're saying you judged whether it was good or bad based on the opening and ending theme? =/...

The only voice I have to complain with so far is Sakura, but it's been a while since I've watched my Naruto subs. As for editing nosebleeds... that's understandable as the general American public wouldn't understand what it meant.

True, it maybe that those of us that dont like the dubs just have a much higher standard as we compare an original to a copy. We will always see flaws as we prefer the first. Still, we will compliment the copy for the work taken into its recreation.

Besides, it could have been much much worse than it actually turned out so I will second what Ace said. It is a success, not the one most of us that dislike the dubbing wanted, but still a success none the less. Overall rating: 8/10.

let me say this right now so there's no more confusion: naruto is definately pronounced "NA-ru-to." i know this for a fact since i actually know japanese and how things are pronounced. do YOU know japanese?

if some other source says it's pronounced "na-RU-to" then they obviously either don't know jack about japanese or they purposely pronounce it that way because it sounds "better." americans quite often completely butcher the pronunciation of japanese words, usually so it sounds less "foreign" to our ears. words that have been butchered by american pronunciation:

Theres a clip of episode 3 on CNs website I don't how it went in the japanese version but the clip doesn't show the accidental kiss between Naruto and Sasuke, but you still know that it happened because theres kissing noises and (Inner) Sakura is mad about how she was supposed to be Sasuke's first kiss.

Not everybody keeps the closed captioning on when watching telivision, or know diddly about Japanese pronunciation. They hear "You-skay" so they assume it's just a weird Japanese thing and they spell it phonetically. That's one of the many, many problems when translating things, even if you are just trying to get the spelling right.

Yes they did edit out some blood, but Sexy Jutsu was not edited as far as I could tell. I mean, they could have added just a tinge more smoke to hide the Tand A a bit. but it looked the same to me.

not too much, a little here a little there. SOME scenes have just been removed completely though. some things in anime are just too bloody/raunchy for the scrupulous soccermoms to stomach. (damn them and damn the FCC! :mad: ) if you're thinking about nudity though there really is never much of an edit on average because there is never much more nudity in the average original anime anyways, contrary to what some ppl (who've never actually seen the original eps of an anime) will tell you.

Well I saw the premiere for it on Toonami last week.

It was erm, okay. The voices for the characters really didn't match that well, so I didn't get into it.

Also, I don't think the rating PG was appropriate for what happened with the Sexy Jutsu. It should've been at least PG-DS or maybe even 14.

I doubt they would go to that much trouble just for Canada. The original endings will appear in the uncut DVD's when they are released next year so just be patient.

Well, the bug catching arc has ended and a new filler arc will start again, this time focusing on Neji and his group. Finally some Hawt Tenten action. And Neji action is always a good thing.

Of course it has other seasons. I think it's around it's 4th or 5th in Japan. Correct me if I'm wrong, it's going off memory. It's coming towards the 7th season.

Great episode for the final of this arc. A lot of good things. Kyuubi Naruto appears (sadly, only for less than like, 10 seconds), Hinata's new move looked kick-ass awesome, and great animation. Anyone notice it's the same animation from episode 19?! I can tell because the lip flaps are always different and because of the art/animation.

Next week: Naruto + Team Gai!!

Good news: More action with Neji, Lee, and TENTEN!!
Bad news: More filler. Will Kakashi Gaiden/Part 2 ever come? Oh well, the next season might be full of fillers just so the manga can further advance.

Im not as optimistic as you 2 are. Hinata is one of my top 3 favorite characters and I loved this filler arc, but enough is enough. We havent had a legit episodse since Naruto's return to the hospital from the Colossal battle. I dont want any more consecutive filler.

well, the animators are doing this equal-opportunity thing for all the genin groups, so the next filler arc will probably involve Gaara, Kankuro, and Temari. Meh, all three of them are awesome anyway, especially Gaara. They didn't get enough fights while in the costumes they were in when during the Sasuke's Betrayal arc.

The next arc involves Gai's team. The Sand Trio alrighty got some spotlight that time, and I'm sure they've got things to do at their own village.

I'm as impatient as the rest of the fans. I too really want to see Kakashi gaiden and Part 2 real bad, but these fillers are in the way, but it's the only way to continue. I don't think they wanna start now in case they catch up to the manga and then make more fillers from there. Better leave it in between time slots.

So Sakura and the old woman (I'm blanking on her name, and I'm to lazy to look it up) finally beat Sasori. Akatsuki is down to 8 members since losing Orochimaru. And it seems that one more will be going out soon. What I want to know is about Kakashi's new style of his Sharingan... I know it doesn't look like Itachi's, and I know that Kakashi wouldn't kill his best friend to get the same Sharingan that Itachi got. What does this new Sharingan do? Someone who is reading this PM me with some ideas... And were is everyone still?!? Hinata, Shino, Kiba... And Team Gai... Could they STILL be fighting the mirrors of themselves? Cause that happened a LONG time ago... Oh! And what of Sasuke?!? Buh... I'm tearing my hair out... At this rate, I won't have to wait for Male Pattern Baldness...

Kakashi and Naruto beat Deidara pretty easily. And I think that the translation of the new Sharingan was, Mangekyou... Wait a minute... Wasn't that Itachi's? Because this appears to be the same that Itachi had, and it had an interesting ability. Took of Deidara's arm in the process. Now there is nothing Deidara can do since his/her other arm was crushed by Kazekage-Sama... I'm all confused...

The Mangekyou Sharingan can only be achieved (at least as Itachi says it) by killing your Best Friend. DOES THIS MEAN KAKASHI KILLED SOMEONE RECENTLY!? I think it was of Obito's death and I think it's cuz Kakashi feels responsible for it but you never know...

Canada's premiere of Naruto aired yesterday, and it indeed was the same edited version as Toonami's.

I knew ours was edited, but I didn't think it would have the exact same edits. Perhaps the uncut version isn't available yet though. *shrugs*

Iruka & Naruto's voice sounded a bit funny, otherwise it was a decent dub nonetheless, at least IMO. I'll be watching the subbed version soon to see what changes they made, even though I do know most of the edits, seeing as I did watch the first eo subbed before.

Yes those were horrible edits because we all really needed to see Naruto do that didnt we? I mean they totally ruined the show by cutting THOSE SCENES out. I will never watch another Naruto episode again because they cut THOSE SCENES.
