Well, the Taniya episodes are done, and it seems some people can't be satisfied, no matter how awesome a duelist is...too much hype, i suppose.
In any case, i guess it's time to begin talking about the atlantis episode. I look forward to it, being an atlantis duelist myself, >.> but why the blazes did the guy juudai's facing have to use the orca? there are other monsters that benefit better, but meh, whatever, i guess..at least we'll get to see Daedalus; of course, it'd be even more awesome if we got to see Neo-daedalus,lol
In addition, it seems to me..the submarine guy, i can't remember his name, looks like a combination between Vance McMadd of Ultimate Muscle, and the Skipper from Gilligan's Island...lol, Gilligan's Island..always a classic.
anyways, thoughts, comments, discussion..?

Yes, I'm starting to see a trend here; both Water duelists in the YGO universe that we've seen are both sea-farring fishermen. What, do we HAVE to have an obsession for fish to be able to use Water decks? I feel a bit offended... but meh.
Leviadragon's one of my personal favorite monsters, so this WILL be a treat for me, whether we see Neo-Daedalus or not.

Hey guys, ironic I'm talking to both of you...
Anyways, I must have more. There isn't enough of Water Duelist to go around, if there is Daedalus I'm pleased, if not I'm going to go and cry. If Neo-Dae Dae shows, I'm ever more pleased than the average viewer.

I was kinda hoping for Ancais to be cool looking but he's some fisherman with a big 'A' stamped on his hat. At least his deck should be interesting.

Yeah, every Sea duelist in the anime seems to be obsessed with anything nautical. It'll be spiffy to see a duel underwater, though. :D

It looks awesome. I hope he uses Neo, though the whale-thing (forget name) is cool too.
What happened to their voices? He switch them with the mic or something? I was confused at that part.

Well since Taniya was a letdown, I'm hoping Ancais isn't. They have crapped up his character design, but hopefully his deck will make up for it.

Excluding the two WATER-using duelists in the Memory Saga...
Gah, this duel seems rather pointless, so, I'll just have to see it for its plot. Bleh, using Orca Mega Fortress, kinda lame. Flame Wingman + Skyscraper = pwnage :-/

That's a Bubbleman fusion? I KNEW there was something funny-looking about that Bubbleman!
But what is it a fusion of? It looks maybe like Bubbleman and E Kids, or, maybe Wildman and Bubbleman? ^^ <3 :D

Not quite... it was mentioned earlier in the thread at this point, but there's one Water Duelist in the Virtual Arc: Crump, the Penguin Duelist. He isn't obsessed with the sea like Mako and Anacis - just penguins.
Gansley of the Big Five also uses a few big Water monsters, but his deck is more of a Weenie Swarm/Effect deck. It wasn't until the Big Five teamed up that he used some decent Water cards - A Legendary Ocean and Legendary Fisherman. They switched over to Crump before using Catapault Turtle, the last water monster of the duel.

I actually liked this episode. The animation seemed above par and Anacis didn't annoy me at all, surprisingly. I liked seeing all of the water cards and the Orca cards are some of my favorites. Maybe this was a personal bias kicking in, but I thought it was one of the better episodes as of recently.

I don't think they said what the other component was... I have a theory given the name that maybe (and this is a stretch) it may be a fusion of Bubbleman + Bubbleman? I can't think of any monster that would give fins to Bubbleman, and it would explain why it's the only E-Hero fusion to keep the name of a component monster.
Also, I liked the duel myself. It was short but reasonably well-played, although I really wish they'd make a habit of long duels. They're always better than short three or four turn ones. By any chance, does anyone know what Sho was so upset about?

The episode was pretty good. I can't wait for CRV to hit the U.S. We'll all be doing godly topdecks like Jyuudai did with Bubbleman and Pot of Greed.
I had hoped for a more dramatic destruction effect by Levia Drgon - Daedalus. He IS the 2nd most powerful Water monster in the game. Something like a giant whirlpool as Atlantis gets destroyed would've been better...not a simple explosion.
Anyways, I quite liked the amount of OCG product ads scattered in this episode. Haven't seen those in a while.

Asuka Tenjoin
06-23-2005, 01:04 AM
I don't know if this is too presumptuous of me since you guys do the summaries now, but if it is I'll refrain from doing another. As is, I have nothing particular to do and I'd like to help out, so here's the best I can come up with.
The duel begins with Judai drawing and playing E-Hero Wildman in face-down defense. He ends his turn.
Anacis (who is what I understand from translations is true is one of the creepiest YGO characters EVER  ) draws and plays A Legendary Ocean, which freaks Judai out because the field puts them underwater and he thinks he's drowning. :p Anacis summons Orca Mega - Fortress of Darkness (whose level is reduced to 4 by ALO), boosting the monster's ATK to 2300 and destroying Wildman. Anacis sets a card and ends his turn.
Judai draws and plays Featherman in defense, still on guard. He sets a card and ends his turn.
Anacis draws and activates his trap, which from what I understand thanks to Horoko's translation allows him to Normal Summon any number of monsters as long as their total level is equal to 3. He selects one Cannonball Spear Shellfish and one Torpedo Fish, as ALO reduces their levels to 1 and 2 respectively. A little math lesson flashes onscreen thanks to Misawa, lol. He tributes the Shellfish to destroy Judai's set card (which looked to me like Dimensional Tunnel Mirror Gate) and the Torpedo Fish to destroy Featherman, then attacks directly with Orca (Judai LP: 1700). He ends his turn.
Judai draws and plays Polymerization to combine E-Heros Clayman and Sparkman into E-Hero Thunder Giant, using its effect to destroy Orca Mega. He then returns the favor from last turn and attacks Anacis directly (Anacis LP: 1600). He sets two cards and ends his turn.
Anacis draws and plays The Shallow Grave, choosing to revive Orca Mega in defense while Judai selects Clayman. It doesn't really matter though, because Anacis tributes Orca for Levia Dragon - Daedalus, then tributes Umi in order to fuel Levia Dragon's effect. He nukes the field and prepares to attack Judai for the win. But he isn't prepared for Stock Judai Tactic #17 - The Emergency Provisions save! He tributes a trap I couldn't identify (though for some reason I tend to assume everytime a Judai trap is destroyed without working it's Draining Shield, lol) for Provisions to boost his LP (J LP: 2700), allowing him to barely survive Levia Dragon's breath attack (J LP: 100). Anacis ends his turn confidently.
Judai rolls to his feet after the attack and draws as the victory song kicks in. He special summons E-Hero Bubbleman, drawing two cards - Bubble Shot and and Pot of Greed. He then plays Pot of Greed, and immediately plays his newly drawn The Warrior Returning Alive, recovering Sparkman from his Graveyard and normal summoning it in attack. But he got another card too and he uses it on Bubbleman - Metamorphosis allows him to tribute Bubbleman in order to special summon E-Hero Bubbleman Neo from his fusion deck. Exact same stats, but also a similar enough name that he can be equipped with Bubble Shot, doubling his attack to 1600. Judai attacks Levia Dragon with the equipped Bubbleman Neo, and Bubble Shot is destroyed to keep the fusion alive. Anacis bursts out laughing, but Judai explains Neo's new effect - it was in battle with Levia, so Levia somewhat anti-climatically explodes (Kaibacorp is REALLY skimping on hologram effects nowadays, all the destruction effects just cause generic explosions lol). Anacis has nothing on his field as Sparkman attacks him directly for the win (Anacis LP: 0).
It was an interesting if short duel, but we never do find out how Bubbleman Neo is fused. It'd be nice to see it again some day.

I'm looking forward to hearing the music they play in the Assassin duels again, that dramatic song is very nice. This was a pretty good filler duel though... If that final shot from the end credits is anything to go by, it's probably a Hero Kids. The final shot has:
Shining Flare Wingman (Featherman, Burst Lady, and Sparkman)
Wild Jaggyman (Wildman and Edgeman)
Necro Darkman
Bubbleman Neo
Two Hero Kids
The only Heroes missing are his third Hero Kids and Clayman. We know that Clayman and Bubbleman fuse into Mudballman. Ergo, the last monster, his third Hero Kids, is most likely the one that's fused with Bubbleman for Bubbleman Neo.

(though for some reason I tend to assume everytime a Judai trap is destroyed without working it's Draining Shield, lol)
Perhaps because Chronos destroyed it in episode 1 and Ryo destroyed an unrevealed trap card in episode 8?
Of course, he also has Insurance, Mirror Force, Hero Barrier, Hero Signal, Miracle Kids, Clay Charge, Feather Wind, Dimension Gate Tunnel, Super Junior Confrontation, um, I think that's all for unchainable traps...
XD
Thanks for the summary, I love how GX perfectly sets up the Life Points.
And, as to your inquiry on Neo Bubbleman, it's clear Neo Bubbleman is treated as [E-HERO Bubbleman] if he can be equipped with Bubble Shot.
Horoko

It's because his name is "Bubbleman Neo" not "Neo Bubbleman" When Equipped it is technically [E-HERO Bubbleman] because the Neo is at the end of his name, not the front.

what if it is Kunisaki? from epsiode 20?
i mean it makes almost perfect sense. . he has the same build, and was probably snooping around to look for the Legendary Demons.. if Titan doesn't tell you, anyone who has anything to do with the Haunted Dorm has to do with the 7 Stars.. also he knew who Fubuki was... hmmm...so i peg him now over my first thought of Daito sensei

I do not know about everyone else but I am getting extremely annoyed with Judai's perpetual duels. Seriously, Judai's duel ratio for the first 38 episodes (not counting incomplete duels) is rounded to 77.419354838709678% where as Manjyoume who duels the most after Judai is only rounded to 19.35483870967742%.
This means that Judai duels over 58% more than any other character on GX. No wonder people get tired of him!
This is sad because Judai is a pretty cool character, but he is shown so much that many people just get sick of him. :(
Somewhat on topic: If Anacis is rich enough to cover his duel disk in jewels, you would think he would be able to afford some plastic surgery. :p
Asuka Tenjoin
06-24-2005, 01:17 AM
I've learned to accept it, since the show HAS gotten better lately. I mean in the last 10 episodes only... well, 6 of them have been Judai duels. That's progress, even if it's not much. Seeing Ryo, Manjyome, Chronos, and Misawa duel to space out the Judai ones has been nice.
And just look at the next bunch of episodes. Manjyome duels next week, then... well, looks like Judai beats his fourth Assassin in a row. But then Asuka duels (Yay! :) ) and even sounds like she beats an Assassin in one episode that Judai originally took two episodes to beat! And she gets another duel two episodes later! And the episode after that sounds like both Asuka and Manjyome duel. It's definitely evolving.
I honestly do hope they kick the Judai reliance though, because that IS getting ridiculous. There was no point whatsoever in giving keys to 7 people to combat 7 Assassins if Judai's beaten 4 of the 5 that have appeared so far. But it sounds like they're going to have Judai beat nearly all of them anyway. Ryo, Chronos, and Misawa are already out, and Manjyome AND Asuka both sound like they lose to the same guy in 44... so that leaves Judai to fight the last two Assassins, for an utterly ridiculous 6/7. At least they let Asuka get her revenge against one of them, but still, cripes.

Already got it. He was once a famous black singer, one of a five-sibling group, but decided he'd rather be a rich white sea captain. He also put on tons of weight and decided his nose didn't need to fall off anytime soon.
As for the issue of Judai over-dueling: well, I prefer a bunch of 3 to 6 episode long duels for my main character myself--preferably several times a season, too.

06-24-2005, 12:11 PM
The first time, it was because of all of the lights going out in the dome. Misawa thought that if it wasn't a Duel of Darkness, why did all the lights go out. One of Anacis's crew men came up saying they fixed the problem and that is why they all fell.

06-24-2005, 01:53 PM
So Anacis isn't one of the seven stars? Or is he? I'm confused. It almost seemed like a frienly duel to me, except Juudai seemed to have escaped the sub looking beaten up. I dunno, that puzzles me.
And being a water duelist, you'd think I'd be more fancied with this episode. Well, I wasn't. Orca and its associates are just too chancy to play, and the fact that Anacis got them all out in just 2 turns shows that he's cheating. :-P
In short, I wish this duel went on just a little longer so I can see more, much cooler water monsters.
And I agree that Levia's effect was done poorly; I'd like to see him literally swallow the whole field like a giant vaccum cleaner.
It probably would have been just as cool to see Neo-Deadalus.

Anacis has been considered a sort of pedophile on Janime's board; according to someone else's summary, Judai's the "treasure" of Duelist Academia. No, he isn't one of the Seven Stars. Levia-Dragon's effect could've at least been a tidal wave or something, too, a la the Leviathan from Duelist Kingdom.
On another note...Arr, that Duel Disk looks to be fine booty be those gems not rhinestones! Seriously, it would make jewelers jealous...or pissed off, 'cause dueling might hurt such fine specimens!
Oh, and yay for Black Scorpions next ep! A whip can be a very handy tool indeed. ^.^
