I realize that this is really old news, but do you think it was right to just ban Fatespinner from the environment entirley before they get the bug fixed?
For those who don't know what happened (and shame on you) the mirrodin rare Fatespinner made Modo chrash because it doesn't allow anyone to skip a phase. So basically in limited games, when someone played Fatespinner, the opponent couldn't do anything, so the other player would win by default. I would think that it would be easier to program the ability now as opposed to banning spinner from play. Until we can solve this problem is bs, because that just means that they don't know to fix it. I would hope that wizards would be more cautious with these type of things in the future. Modo is expensive. You have to build an entirely new collection to play, and now, we're learning about a few mistakes that wizards forgot about. I hope this type of thing doesn't happen again. Thoughts anyone?
Sorry if you don't want to hear my ramblings. I just wanted to get this out.

what are you talking about. MTG online, apprentice, things like this...
man that does suck well I do kinda have to agree you should get rid of problem stuations until you can fix them. I guess it's better than just leaving them in there.

Modo=Magic the Gathering Online. I don't know if this is on apprentice.

I believe apprentice does give you the option to skip turns though.

See kids, this is why we play with real cards, for real ratings points.
I've never had a card crash on me, lock up my game, or change into another one. Also, WotC can't take it from me when/if they shut down MODO.
In my opinion, its only good for draft practice. And even then its still not stable enough to be worth it.

modo is awful. you PAY MONEY for cards that arent real?! Thats not very good.
Apprentice is far superior: no paying money, no bugs, make whatever deck you want to test for free.

You obviously don't draft that much. I agree that apprentice is superior for playtesting, but Modo is good for continuously drafting.

How much does all of this cost? I know it's $9.99 to sign up, but how much is it to draft and play people and enter tournaments and the such? It sounds pretty interesting to me, but I don't want to pay the 10 dollar sign up fee and find that I've got to spend twice that much just to participate in the various aspects of the game. Thanks for the info.

You get the ten bucks back from a precon, and draft costs 2 tickets (approx $1 USD) and 3 boosters of the appropriate type (MSRP).

Limited events cost something like 2-5 tickets and Constructed anywhere between 5-10 tickets. But the reason people like to draft on Modo, is that in the enterence fee, you don't have to pay for things like utilities and space, and you can provide your own packs. So you can, in effect, play forever without paying anything if you become really good.

... which leaves everybody else out in the cold.
There is a nifty program called NetDraft, which allows you to draft with up to 8 people using any legal expansion for free. The program sorts by color and CCC and gives you land. Then you can load it into a ".dec" file to play on apprentice for FREE.
Its not hard to find opponents either. There is a busy MIRC channel where you can find players for any possible format.
Apprentice is more "do it yourself", if you want to skip a phase, you can very easily.
Btw, why bother with fatespinner? its nothing more than an annoyance and takes up a slot better suited for something better (not to mention its got double U in its cost).
