does rare candy allow me to play my stage 2 evolution on first turn ?

On general circumstances, no evolutions can be played on your first turn.

However, on any other turn, Rare Candy allows you to evolve to the Stage 1 or 2 evolution of the Basic Pokémon in question, even on the turn you play it.

On your fifth turn, for instance, if you play a Torchic, you could (in the same turn) play Rare Candy, then evolve to Blaziken.

The Trainer Giovanni allows you to play evolutions on your first turn. Says so on the card and therefor gets by the "No Evolutions on your first turn" rule.

Never mind.
We got some rulings back from Japan but it appears that they didn't realize we were asking about the first turn of the game. :rolleyes:

So, it is still the rule that, unless the card specifically says so (like Giovanni), you can't evolve in any way on the first turn of the game.
