Take that Windows users!
As I see it, Microsoft is finally 'unofficially' admitting that Macs are better!

I don't think anyone is proud of being a Microsoft user anyway.

Considering the Xbox 360 developer kits are Power Mac G5's and the console's CPU's are dervived from the Power PC chips...

LMAO. Yeah.

A lot of stuff is done with macs and people don't realize it. Most movie/tv etc. work is done with macs.

Macs are really crappy, IMO.

Yes, I really care that MS admits that Macs are better...[/sarcasm]

Uh...Microsoft bought part of Apple in the 90's, before the G series started coming out and revitalizing Apple.

This is not news.

And the Mac vs. PC arguement has been DONE TO DEATH for the last 20 years! Look, use what you know and like. If you like Windows and PCs then use them. If you like Macs then use them. Live and let live...

Damn, our society is always about one-upmanship. I use a Mac, so I'm better than you all...that's totally B.S. (I'm better than you all 'coz I'm older, married and still find the time to teach you kiddies about life, the universe and everything. Oh and I saw Episode III almost 2 weeks ago. :P Hee Hee )

Seriously though, it's not always about us versus them. Granted, I can't stand Microsoft either, but then again I use Microsoft Products both at Work and at Home (though at home...well, let's just say after purchasing MS Office at least once over the years, I'm not about to spend $180 again on one of their products...so I did something that we don't discuss here...and I do it often, I just don't TALK about it). You have to adapt or die. It's pure evolutionary science. You can't work in an American Corporate business without knowing the rudiments of Windows. It's virtually impossible.

Hell, did you know that the credit card terminals, which make up the bane of my professional existence these days, their proprietary software is based on Windows (3.1, the most STABLE of the 80's/90's Windows)?

I spend several minutes composing an intelligent, thoughtful message, and I get followed up by that.

I think that sums up this message board quite succinctly.

You absolutely hate me, don't you, WW? I was responding, if you must know, to the first post.
Out of the pure goodness of my heart, I will repost your message:

Because your post was borderlining spam IMO.

I've only used a Mac a few times and that was back then, so my view is partially biased by that, but I do hear the the current Macs are really good. I was raised on Windows, however, so I'm more of a Windows person, granted I haven't even touched a Mac in years. I agree with Will that it's no big deal that Microsoft used Macs in their demos or whatever. So what?

My computer experience started in the very late DOS and Windows 3.1/3.11 days. Windows 3.1 is one of the most stable OS that I've used. Considering it is nothing more than a fancy DOS shell. I'm at home using the command line. If you know how to use the command line in Windows XP you can have some fun on the internet.

I've been interested in Mac since they were the first home systems with a good GUI and multimedia features. (Let's not talk about Xerox PARC.) System 7.5 was the first Mac OS that I had any real experience with. I was still new to the computer world but Macs outdid DOS' old command line.

Currently, Mac OS X is the most productive OS to use. I've had to heavily customize my usage in Windows XP just to get around 60% of the multitasking abilities in OS X. Exposé, the Dock, and even how it handles maximizing windows just adds to the ease of having multiple windows open. If you plug in a two button or more mouse you can really make things much easier. Just set the one of the extra button(s) to rezise your windows in Exposé

Buy a Mac if you're not a hardcore gamer and don't want to get shafted the latest hardware. Mac upgrade cycles tend to occur in April and September. In addition Mac's have much higher resale value compared to their Windows/PC counterparts. You won't have to worry about viruses or spyware. Nearly all of it is compiled to run on Windows machines. Mac's just work and are for work.

I'm still amazed that people still think you're stick with the one-button mouse Apple gives you. Not that the keyboard shortcuts aren't to hard to learn.

The next generation consoles will all be using some derivation of the Power PC core. Note that this is an IBM product and not an Apple one. Apple gets it's CPU's from IBM. Xbox 360 (Xenon) will be running with 3 3.2 Ghz CPU's each capable of 2 threads. To the Mac users, Microsoft isn't stealing the Power PC from Apple. Just because your Power Mac G5 is still using 2.7 Ghz CPU's at the high end doesn't mean the Xbox 360 is better. It's using optimized CPU's that are only limited to gaming on the console. What worries me the most is that the Xbox 360's are going to be water cooled. Let's hope there isn't a leaky batch of consoles.

It's a fact that Mac's are alot better at doing video editing than Windows machines, which is why so many film and TV things are done on them. It's probably for similar reasons that XBox tech comes from Mac.

I've only ever used the ancient Apple computers back in my primary school days, and rarely touch a Mac. I spent hours trying to do something on a friends Mac for him, because I don't understand the OS. But I'm sure I'd be happy with one if I got one.

Hell, did you know that the credit card terminals, which make up the bane of my professional existence these days, their proprietary software is based on Windows (3.1, the most STABLE of the 80's/90's Windows)?

I heard that, WW. Some of the stuff my Dad uses runs on BBC computers! "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". And those machines do what they need to do, and do it well. It doesn't need fancy imaging, or a fast processor. Some of the things in my physics lab at Uni use BBC's aswell, because they are a very adaptable computer.

Although I use windows I still hate Bill Gates. He monopolizes pretty much, what with charging $200 for microsoft office.

So on a not too related note, I wonder if Apple will actually get it's own videogame system out there ever.

Technically, they already did...the old Turbografx 16 was based on a Motorola 68030 processor, which was the same processor as the upgraded Mac SE.

Amazingly enough, I still have an old 486 running on 3.1. XP

Actually, I was looking forward to the release of Longhorn next year. Until I realized that Longhorn = Mac OS X. No, I'm sorry, Longhorn < Mac OS X.

Still, Windows 95 WAS undeniably revolutionary. I mean, NO MORE ALT+TAB SWITCHING. (Although I still use Alt+Tab switching on newer Windaz models, ironically enough. XP)

The X-brick was (and still is, actually) pretty nice, considering that it's just a cheap PC. I mean, sure, if you want to, like, run Linux on it or something, you'll have to snip some wires, but still... Also, for every X-brick unit sold, Micro$oft loses money. Come on, people. Let's gut MS. (Just don't let them make up for it in software sales, it's not to hard to pirate XB software.)

I tend to hate a lot on MS, and really get a kick out of stuff like this (http://www.ntk.net/media/dancemonkeyboy.mpg) and this (http://alt.venus.co.uk/weed/humour/gates30.mov) and this (http://www.ntk.net/media/developers.mpg) and this (http://bbspot.com/News/2000/4/MS_Buys_Evil.html) and this (http://alt.venus.co.uk/weed/humour/msinstal.htm) and this (http://www.macboy.com/cartoons/switch/gates/index.html) and this (http://www.robotcombat.com/video/switch_bill.mov) and this (http://www.hotandfruity.com/xpod/the_xpod.shtml) and this (http://www.flamingmailbox.com/maccomedy/movies/balmer.html). XP XP XP Can you think of a cooler emoticon? How about XD? Let's all go play Pokemon now.
