View Full Version : Is It Just Me, or does the RainDance Deck Still Rule?

I just recently got back into Pokemon (digging out my almost 2000 cards) and started to play some local people again. Its then that I started to realise that every new super powered deck from the new sets were just nothing against my Rain Dance get. I've got a 39-0-0 win ratio so far with my Rain Dance.
Anyone else notice how the old decks are still as powerful as they were back then?

This belongs in Gossip; TCG Deck forum is just for decks that need fixing. I went ahead and moved it for you.
Raindance is still a viable deck; I'm sure Satoshi will be the first to attest to that. It just needs proper maintenance and construction, like any deck. There is no clear-cut winning deck in Unlimited format, simply because so many combos are possible. Still, I'd place Raindance in the top 5-7 decks nowadays. If you'd like us to take a look at your Raindance deck and improve it further, then simply post it over in the Unlimited forum. ^_^
Good Luck!

You're durn tootin' I'll attest to that, Bondi. ^_^
Raindance sort of died during Gym, simply because there was so much going against it...major trainer disruption via Trappers and the heavy use of TR Zapdos made Blastoise very, very sad. That was really the only dark time for the deck.
Now you've got cards like Oracle, Fisherman and Rare Candy that not only make Raindance easier to play than ever but make it quite the power to contend with if built and maintained correctly.
Short answer: yes. Raindance is the pWn...even after four years. :p

Hmm hardly a fair comparison if they are playing current modified Trainers and you are playing Raindance with full unlimited trainer engine.
I suggest trying to play raindance with the new trainer cards then see how it compares?
You'll be ok to replace Breeder with Rare Candy and Trader with Fast Ball and Duo Ball maybe even some of the dreaded Supporters but you'll lose speed and against Amphy EX I bet you would only be 50/50.
My advice keep Raindance locked up for Unlimited and try the newer cards out get along to a modified tourney and play one of the upcoming Pre-releases
Raindance is good, I would add Kyogre EX as a replacement Hitter for Articuno and maybe Wailord EX as well ... big shock 2nd turn there but without the Unlimited trainer engine you would not have such a high win percentage.

Raindance is still a very viable deck. It's also odd that it's the only Stage 2 Pokemon thats lived through the last 5 years.
I see a couple in the tournaments I go to. I'm the only person playing Fossil Muk, so that sums up that versus comparison.
From what Ive seen, it's a Waters Vincent Van Gogh-esque Haymaker.
No BBPs whatsoever, but it lays down the beats and that pretty much what counts in decks, right?
Personally, you could run a Raindance deck with cards from maybe Neo1/2 and back and it would still run just as good

So, basically a RainDance deck involves getting an extra water energy on your pokes a turn? Well, IMO, I've seen it played once, and it was pretty good...

Magnor: Blastoise (http://www.pokeschool.com/tcg/scans/base/blastoise.jpg) takes the "one energy per turn" rule and doesn't just break it, but it tosses it on the floor and does a flat out Irish folk jig on it. =/
As many Water Energy per turn as you like on your Water Pokémon. This is on top of the one energy per turn; you could toss a Double Colorless or whatever onto Chansey, then unload 5 Waters onto Blastoise or whatever Water critter you'd like.
