Well, i don't have emerald, but I was still wondering...
do they still have secret bases?
can you still use a link cable?
does it work on a regular GBA?
after fighting her in lilycove, do you get to fight may again?
are there any new pokemon/attacks/types (I.E. light type)?
i head something about battle tents, whats up with these things?
these questions will help me decide whether or not i want a ruby (30$) or emerald (50$).

Yes
Eventually
No, only Advanced or DS
Not sure about that one, but I would assume so
No new types but there is Volt Tackle for Pichu/Pikachu/Raichu
Battle Tents take the place of contests location wise and is in the Battle Fronteir. It is where you use diff pokemon than your own to win a series of battles and you can switch one of your pokemon with one of the polemon from the losing person.
I think Leelue said "regular GBA" as in non-SP, not GB...
(Therefore regular GBA would work...)
As for battling "rival" again...(Edit: Now I just beaten the Elite Four, and I didn't get to battle the rival again...)

I'm pretty sure you can trade with R/S rather quickly. (like before the second Gym) But not the others. That would make it too easy.

i dunno. but around here, for some reason, GBA games cost as much as XBox games.
sad... i know.
there was another question i had, um,
2 questions.
can you call people on the phone?
an do the gym leaders/elite 4/champion get stronger after you fight them, or just wally?
Like in Yellow version.

1. Yes, but it's pointless to.
2. Yes, progressively stronger - they add/remove/replace pokemon, and level them up as needed so that you have a hard time.

We can finally re-battle gym leaders too, and post-initial gym battles are 2v2. Kinda nice.

Emerald isn't compatible with the Colosseum Bonus Disk. Somebody already tried and got a message saying that the bonus disk wasn't connected to a US Ruby/Sapphire cart.

At $50,you might as well buy it on Amazon.com .You can get it shipped to you,and it will probably still cost less.
