kaiba is my favorite character in both dub and original, however the original is better without a doubt (2nd favorite is Malik, or Marik in english version);
the thing is, in comparision with the original version, everthing about the english version sucks

The original Kaiba sounds like someone I'd like to get to know...

But whether dubbed or not, there's only one thing about Kaiba that really keeps it real: his deck. He undoutedly has one of the most playable decks in the anime; it makes me wonder why Yugi's deck isn't like that at all, since he's the King of Games.

Eh, I'll get back on the subject... I really started to hate Kaiba after the end of the Duelist Kingdom arc, because up until then, his ignorance was fairly tolerable. I mean, he only experienced the powers of a Millennium Item once (well okay, technically twice when Atem shocked him after beating him with Exodia), so it seemed to fit that Kaiba would keep this macho "I care for noone but myself and screw all magic speeches" attitude for a little while...

Then Battle City started, and it began his slow but steady downfall, personality-wise. Like Yugi/Atem, he's sounding more and more like a broken record, and it's really starting to bother me. He even said "There must be a glitch in the hologram" TWICE. Somebody should seriously slap him a few times.

I winder if they'll finally change his attitude after this arc....

What I find hilarious is that most of these peopel commenting how the 'superiority' of the original probably gets these so-called lines from subtitled episodes.

Ok, I think the reason why Kaiba is such an @$$ in the dub is because Japanese and American cultures are different. The Japanese do not like rudeness, not that we do, but we are more accustomed to it, so Kaiba is much more mellow in the original so the Japanese audience will like him and he is more of an @$$ in the dub because most of us can brush it off and still like Kaiba.

Then again, what do I know? I've never seen the original and I know jack-diddly about Japanese culture other than what I know from books. I do know that their culture promtes patience, but that's it.
