i've only made it far enough into emerald to catch two of the party members, as of today. but the whole team has been planned out... i don't intend to do any egg raising because that takes more time than i'd rather spend (except for the cases of shuppet and corphish because they appear at nearly level thirty and that's too high to start for my liking). each team member was designed to function on their own, but three pairs of two were also created to enhance double battles and cover weaknesses that each one alone could not.

so yeah.... that's the concept. here's the method of accomplishment.

megaera/sceptile - [f] - sunny day, solarbeam, dragon claw, dig
|
helios/magcargo - [f] - rock slide, secret power, flamethrower, light screen

simple idea here. megaera enhances helios' flamethrower with sunny day (which also lightens the power of water and assuages helios' severe weakness; also powers solarbeam, which will eliminate the water types that plague magcargo and are likely to know ice type attacks as well). helios in turn is able to eliminate megaera's fire and bug weaknesses with rock slide and boosted flamethrower. dragon claw and secret power were thrown in to add some variety, while dig conquers poison types and light screen helps to further cut down special attack damage. and of course, singly they both have respectable movesets.

sir leode/swalot - [m] - sludge bomb, water pulse, amnesia, shadow ball
|
sopor/banette - [m] - shadow ball, will-o-wisp, rain dance, thunder

this one took a little longer to build because neither pokémon can learn anything that's effective against dark types. however, both know shadow ball to combat the psychic and ghost weaknesses for themselves and each other. sir leode is vulnerable to ground, so there's water pulse; sopor has rain dance to enhance that, and then thunder just to further exploit the weather boost. sludge bomb and will-o-wisp are givens, and amnesia helps bolster the middle-laden special defense stat of sir leode. probably not as harmonious as it could be, but i'm not too worried about it because both pokémon are fairly powerful (and once again they can fend on their own as well).

luna/altaria - [f] - sky attack, earthquake, safeguard, ice beam
|
azul/crawdaunt - [m] - crabhammer, brick break, protect, toxic

sky attack and crabhammer are in because i think they're such cool attacks that no one ever sees anymore, and because sky attack helps keep down grass pokémon that would threaten azul. earthquake also cuts down electric types, saving azul from his other main weakness (he knows protect to counter the side effects in double battles). brick break was included to take advantage of azul's astronomical attack stat and to take down rock types that would threaten luna. safeguard should be obvious, and ice beam eliminates dragon types and gives luna another solid attack. toxic is just there to make things interesting. not terribly gossamer for a combo set, but they can both work alone as well.

the team is kind of rough as a whole, but i think it'll work out well.

any suggestions?

I like your concept---the idea that it "was designed to function on their own, but three pairs of two were also created to enhance double battles and cover weaknesses that each one alone could not".

What you've done shows thought and originality, and with all of the double battling in Emerald, this should prove to be an idea worth trying.

I'm sure other posters will have some specific pokemon/moveset suggestions that go with your theme. Best of luck!

Got concepts?

sechsay...

Drop Dig on Scepty for Crunch and Secret Power on Maggy for Amnesia.

The only other thing I see as of now is -BB on Crawdaunt for HP:Grass.

9/10 not considering missing EVs/Natures. 7.8/10 considering those.

shineyaltaria: thank you very much =]

clown master: the only problem with having crunch is that it takes an egg to get it. it's a nice idea to consider if i ever riase this team from eggs, but for the current purposes it might not work.

i suppose i could have amnesia... though i like the ability to inflict so many different types of status with one move....

interesting suggestions; i'll consider them.

....i don't do ev training... so that's why i didn't list it..

thanks for your input. =]
