I saw the first one that has an UK rating of 15 but the second one has a rating of 18 so I can't go and see it.
Hell yeah I'm going to see it. Vol. 1 was one of the best movies of the year...

But of course I'm going to see Kill Bill V2. It's the only film I'm looking forward to this Spring. I want to see how much of the script that's floating around the net actually got shot.

The first one was an 18 also, unless you go to some weird cinema that goes against rules and gives its own certificates. Or cut it.
Last I heard, Vol. 1 was coming out on DVD 3 days before Vol. 2 comes out at the cinema. And yes, I will see it. First one was great.

I've been wanting to see Kill Bill, since I've heard nothing but good things about it. So of course, I'd rather catch the first one, before the second. Maybe I'll be able to catch a two-for-one special at the theaters.

It would be cool if they had a deal like that. Where they showed both movies one after the other.
I always thought it would be a good idea if they did that with LotR. I.e shown all three movies in a row in theatres. But I don't think many people could last that long.

In Los Angeles New Line set up a marathon screening of all three films. Tickets went on sale in October for the December screening, and they sold out in 90 minutes. And it was a $40 ticket.
BTW I already have Kill Bill V1 on DVD, but I ain't saying where I got it.

Warning, it's reviewed by Harry himself, and it's about as self-indulgent as it gets. Also there's dirty words (as usual), and poor grammer (as usual).
You've been warned.
I definitely will see this flick in the theaters, but I've already read the script for the entire thing (it's OOOOOOOOOOH so hard to find on the net), so I'm not expecting as much as those who haven't read the script. I've seen Vol. 1 probably 20-30 times (I acquired a screening copy), and I think it's a great film...not a piece of cinema history, but a great film, and the film that QT SHOULD have made after Pulp Fiction.

I've never understood why people like tarentino films, personnally I find them to be poor storys which are desgined just to get as much gore in as possible with as little character development or plot in as possible.
Kill bill is the epitomy of this, with no explination to the assasin network, little in the way of reasons why they tried to kill uhma therman and ultimately its just a boring gore fest.
Tarnitno is good at getting the best out of scenes in that he's good at camera angles and the such but personally i find him to be a bad writer.
But thats my personal oppinion.
I will be seeing it because I dont want to settle for just seeing half a film (which I also think was a bad move as in total its not much longer than the last lord of the rings film).
QT plainly writes the best damn dialogue out there. It's witty, and it's great.

Great review, though I found the whole "knee thing" both odd and a bit amuzing, if out of place. I can't wait to see this film. I thought it was supposed to be out in February, but oh well. The wait is almost over. I've got to see this and "Hellboy" to make my year complete.
I loved Kill Bill. The action was intense and the movie was hilarious. I love it when she spanked the kid with her sword, and the fight between her and Vedita Green (Copperhead) at the beginning. I can't wait to see how she deals with the remaining members of the group.
Willis: Except for "From Dusk Till Dawn" and "Kill Bill" I haven't seen any Tarentino films (though I've heard mostly good things about "Pulp Fiction". What's this thing about Ving Rhames getting sodomized or something like that?) The former sucked (actually it was a joint venture between Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez), while the latter was an awesome film. Sure, there was no character development, but the action was incredibly hilarious, and overall, presented what I thought was an interestiing story, with a twist ending. And besides, its an action flick. Do you need a reason to like an action flick?
QT only wrote From Dusk 'Till Dawn. The whole first half of the movie was done in classic QT-style.

yes but I love character driven films, so for me eye candy films just arnt good, I like getting attacted to characters and I like to see them grow and change into different people, sometimes for the better sometimes for the worse. A film that is just about killing isnt apealing to me. Tarentino is a good director he can get the best out of a shot but I dont think he's that good of a writer, alot of his films are basically bits of all his favorite films put into one film just blended in rather well.
His style of film really isnt all that great, I mean the guy was happy to sit around living off the fame of saying hey I'm quinten traintinoe you can worship me now.

Apparently, it's only an hour and 34 minutes long. I have to say I'm disappointed in the length considering how great this movie will be and how great the first one was. Other people feel the same way, but if I'm watching both Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 together, and the 1 hour 34 minute time is right, the movie's total time is 3 hours 24 minutes. A very good length for a great movie. I can't wait for the DVDs of Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 to come out with all the special features (yes, I know it won't be the ones about to come out, but what can you do, besides, the collector's editions of his movies are great.)
P.S.-Here is my idea for the collector's edition box set.
Disc 1-Kill Bill Vol. 1 (American and Japanese versions)with special features
Disc 2-Kill Bill Vol. 2 (American and Japanese versions)with special features
Disc 3-all special features not included on disc 1 or 2
Disc 4-Kill Bill (the whole movie as it was originally supposed to be, includes both American and Japanese versions)
when I say special features, I mean all the regulars i.e.-commentary, deleted scenes, blooper reel, production journal, still photos, etc.

Will the Japanese version be allowed out in the US/UK? It was Japan only for a reason... and I don't think even Battle Royale was allowed out in the US was it (even though its really not as bad as people say).

I checked out the official site, which, for vol. 1 is down, had stuff on the DVD. Here's the info on all the bonus features on the link above. Also, according to someone on IMDB (internet movie data base) who's seen the movie, it's not 1 hour, 34 minutes, but roughly 2 1/2 hours. I hope it's true.

I gotta post this quick before we're out the door for the rest of the day...
Um...you know what, there are a few spoilers below, so you MIGHT not want to read the paragraph about the story, if you don't wanna be spoiled for Vol. 2
Tarantino Planning a Third 'Kill Bill'
Fri Apr 9, 1:35 PM ET
By The Associated Press
NEW YORK - "Kill Bill — Vol. 2" isn't even in theaters yet, but Quentin Tarantino (news) says he's already planning volume three.
"Oh yeah, initially I was thinking this would be my 'Dollars' trilogy. I was going to do a new one every 10 years. But I need at least 15 years before I do this again," the director tells Entertainment Weekly magazine in its April 16 issue.
Tarantino says Uma Thurman (news), who plays a bride out for revenge in the series that began last year, won't be the star.
"The star will be Vernita Green's (Vivica A. Fox (news)'s) daughter, Nikki (Ambrosia Kelley). I've already got the whole mythology: Sofie Fatale (Julie Dreyfus) will get all of Bill's money. She'll raise Nikki, who'll take on The Bride," he says. "Nikki deserves her revenge every bit as much as The Bride deserved hers. I might even shoot a couple of scenes for it now so I can get the actresses while they're this age."
"Kill Bill — Vol. 2," co-starring David Carradine (news), Michael Madsen (news) and Daryl Hannah (news), opens April 16.
Well, there's something to look forward to...
Of course it could just be Hollywood Hype for part 2, since this is the first time we're hearing of it.
And maybe it'll come sooner than The Vega Brothers film with Michael Madsen and John Travolta.
Oh, and I'll merge all the KB threads at some point going forward. I just don't have the time right now.
They're making a movie with the Vega brothers? I checked IMDb, and didn't find anything. That would be awesome. I've also heard rumors about a prequel to "From Dusk 'Till Dawn" featurring the Gecko brothers...
WildWill
04-10-2004, 11:05 AM
QT has promised Michael Madsen that at some point they'd do the Vega Brothers with a big part for him...but no, it wouldn't be in the IMDB yet, since it isn't even close to having a finished script yet. Try this link (http://www.everythingtarantino.com/cms/mt-search.cgi?search=vega+brothers&IncludeBlogs=1)
Also at the same site they've posted a little thing on an animated PREQUEL to Kill Bill. It's a good time to be a QT fan.

I have a quick question about this movie. I've heard that Kill Bill was supposed to be some kind of trilogy. However, all the ads for Vol.2 say "see how it all ends" "Witness th finale" and other end-signaling phrases. Can somene please give me the straight and honest answer?

Does it have any plot? Let's see: a woman who was once apart of a deadly assasin group leaves to get hitched; the assasin group comes to "pay a little visit" and kill everyone there and the leader, Bill, tries to kill the pregnant bride by putting a bullet in her head. Instead of dying, she slipped into a coma; wakes up 4 years later to find that her daughter is gone(she thinks she's dead) and all she remembers are the faces of the people that tried to kill her. So now she's trained and trained for the perfect moment to kill every last single one of them and especially Bill.
Yeah, I think that would qualify as a plot.

I think that it's a fun movie to watch, if a little excessively gory...the man does like making blood look like a high-pressure water sprinkler.
However, he does have a problem with getting his actors to practice good delivery...a lot of the time, it felt pretty wooden and forced. But that's just this overly-jaded film critic.
I just watched Vol. 1 again today, and I plan to see Vol. 2 tomorrow...so, I'll probably post here with my impressions then...

I love the film's surreal action and lame lines combined with the gritty reality of stuff like how she (forgot Uma's character name) almost got pimped out while in a comma.
G.I. Joestar
04-15-2004, 05:05 PM
I don't think Uma's character was given a name (yet). We only know her a sthe Bride. But yah, the coma-pimping was only something Tarrintino could think up, so only he could make it funny
WildWill

She definitely has a name....it's
spoilers below turn away....
[Edited out]
It's in the first draft script. If you can read lips, you can tell that's what Uma is saying in chapter 1, and that's also what O-Ren says in chapter 5.
Also, on the dvd they tweaked the sound, the bleep is not quite as loud, and isn't in the same place...you can clearly hear "x" (as in [Edited out]) in the soundtrack
[Edit by Arky] I deleted it because it was still visible [Edit]

We can always just call her "Black Mamba."

Just got back from Vol 2.
Great film...both parts....want to see them all in one sitting. Basically that's what we did though, watched Vol 1 last night...after Reservoir Dogs just to set the mood.
Can't wait for the special edition DVD, 'cause I KNOW there's more great stuff QT shot.
I won't spoil anything...suffice to say, it's bloody, violent, and bittersweet all at the same time. The cinematic nods are nifty, and the film is quite well made. It's definitely QT's best work.
and Uma better damn well get an Oscar nomination.

I just seen it today and I think its one of the best movies i've ever seen, but I really don't think that she will get a nomination, cause its too much of a action movie to get any nomination for anything. But yeah EXTREMELY GOOD MOVIE!
I just got back from seeing it. Wow. Wow. Wow. It was freaking amazing. Just plain amazing. The character development that was missing in the first one is made up for in the second. It instantly shoots up to one of my favorite movies of all time.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention something. I loved the Superman analogy. Brilliant. Simply brilliant.

I agree - the second one kicked butt although it was different from the first. Volume one was more action/gore and volume two had some excellent story and character development.
And that Master Pai flashback had me rolling....it was brilliant. Reminded me of every over acted kung fu flick ever made.

****Sorry if someone already made an official Kill Bill thread :p****
In this thread lets discuss Quentin Tarantino's(QT) movies Kill Bill volumes 1 and 2, which volume do you like best, the possible Volume 3, or anything else related to the movies.
----------------------------------
I loved the Kill Bill movies. I went and saw Volume 1 with my friend back when it was released, and I adored the method that QT used when creating it. The non-linear flow of the plot got to me right from the start, and when something important would happen and you wouldnt know it, then it would jump to a new scene to explain it, leaving you with "ooooooooh" effect, I find that nice. I think I prefer Volume 2 a tiny bit better than Volume 1, because it cleared more things up and I understood what was going on. And finally, I hope he doesnt make a volume 3 because it would ruin the series.

Sigh.
Yes, there already was a KB thread.
No, you don't get to make a new official one.
yes, I merged them together.
Yes I loved Kill Bill, both volumes. Actually liked 2 better than 1. Can't wait for DVD.
I dont think anybody has anything to worry about because i remember a few entertaiment websites said it was the final volume, but anything can happen. I like both of then, they 2nd lived up to the first and it really made everything make sence. They were VERY good movies. I saw no flaw in the plot. They were exelent.

Kill Bill was never meant to be a trilogy, and there will not be a third movie. You can't kill Bill twice. =P
G.I. Joestar
06-16-2004, 01:39 AM
Not necessarily a trilogy in the sense of a word, but just another movie in that universe. I don't know if its a rumor or not, but Tarantino said he was making a movie about vernetta green's daughter's revenge against The Bride. He said he's wait ten years, thoug, for puberty to kick in. Not a very promising thought, in any case

I don't know how I missed this thread.
I loved both Kill Bill films, they were just- well, quite simply, the coolest films QT has ever been in charge of, and certainly movie highlights for these past few years. Everything was just so damn flawless, and as Willy my boy took it, it did end bittersweet.
Quite possibly the first DVD boxset I've ever been anticipating.

was bill better then Beatrix. For that short fight bill proved he was better then her, she couldn't even unsheath her sword then bill took her sword from her before she finished him. In kill bill the best fighters are pai mei and bill beatrix is not better then bill she was so scared that she was going to shoot him at first .
