My all time fave film, the greatest movie twist ever and a film robbed at the oscars (got the BAFTA for best film though....)

Id like to hear anyone theroies about Soze and Verbals whole story.

It was an awesome flick, but in the end...he did all that to kill the few people who knew his identity, only to have the gov't now know his true identity.

Anyway, it won best original screenplay, and Kevin Spacey got an Oscar for best supporting actor.

This movie is in my top 5.

i like to believe Verbal is Sozez, and he used his will to organise the line up in new york and form "the usual suspects", using Kobiyashi dealing with legalitys behind the scenes. Verbal orchastrated the "New Yorks Finest Taxi Service", thus leading to california and meeting redfoot. After Verbal killed Saul Berg, Redfoot reveals Kobiyashi to the suspects, leading to the meeting and the job offer. The pool room meeting, Soze is mentioned, verbal further delves into the Soze myth by asking the rest of the gang about him.

Now Verbal has Kujan w***** around his little finger, more of sozes back story. (this is probally one of the most important parts of the film).

So now Fester has run off, scared of Soze. They get the call where to find him. This leads into the Kobiyashi confronttaion (my fave part, mc manus in the elevator "press 20, do it now") The fact Kobiyashi has Edie Finneran prsent at his extradition meeting (for aurto mendez and a key moment later on) so Keaton now wont kill Kobiyashi, knowing he has Edie. The other suspects are threatend the same way with loved ones.


The Boat, Hockney is lead by money, mc manus is pissed off and keaton wants to get the job done and dissapear again. Its when they leve verbal on the dock and enter the ship, keaton and mc manus go for it, hockney gos for the money and is killed by verbal/soze, then later on, after Arturo Mendez is killed by Verbal/soze, he gets mc manus who is going crazy looking for the cocaine, thats why he says "the strangest thing" to keaton before he dies.The verbal/Soze shoots keaton in the back, then reveling himself to him when keaton attempts to blow the boat. Then the whole gold watch and lighter soze has, that are givn back to verbal after Kujan releases him.

Now, Verbal has gotten Kujan to think Keaton was soze, and he planned everything and hes still out there somewhere,.

so verbal walks down the street and is picked up by kobiyashi, knowing he has eliminatd all this threats - Arturo Mendez, Edie Fineran (she woulve know his identity after the extradition)

Verbal manipulated the suspects ton help him take out the one guy that could take everything away from him. there was no cocaine, only Aurturo Mendez, who was being sold to the turks to find out Sozes identity.

"And just like that, he's gone."
