Ok, I have seen a lot of posts on the Pojo boards about Apprentice downloads/installations/patches etc. Ok. Here is the deal XD

DragonStudios, normally where you download Apprentice is down. Has been down for a few months which gives us a reason to believe that it isn't coming back. If you want apprentice, you can download it at http://www.pokemon-dojo.com/appr/Apprentice.exe . This file contains everything you need to play the Pokemon TCG online: The program, Apprentice. And the patch already installed. All you need to do is extract it.

If you already have Apprentice, and just want the patch, it is downloadable at http://www.animeplanetnet.net/pojo53.zip . This patch contains the sets Base Set-EX Team Magma Vs Team Aqua. Ill update this post with the new patch whenever one comes available, since the patch is my responsibility lol.

If you have Apprentice, JUST apprentice, downloaded from DragonStudios or E-League, you will need to extract the Patch into the Apprentice file. If you don't do this, Apprentice will NOT be able to play the Pokemon TCG as it is specificly made for Magic: The Gathering.

Ok! So that's it! Now, please, don't post anymore Apprentice topics unless you need somthing that ISNT listed here. And, in case you want to know about the YuGiOh Apprentice, or DBZ Apprentice. It is all the same thing. Just extract the patch of whatever game you want to play online, into your Apprentice folder.

Ok, I have been informed of numerous errors within the patch release. If you find any, send them to webmaster@animeplanetnet.net. Or, fix them yourself and just send me the patch to upload.

With 5.3 released, the EX Team Magma vs Team Aqua only had 83/97. Here are the additions in the new update:

1. The EX Team Magma vs Team Aqua now has 95/97. I know I am missing the Cradily ex, and one other card. If you know, contact me so I can add it.

That's all that was corrected. Please help me get this done soon so I can release a final 5.3 lol.

You can download the update at http://www.animeplanetnet.net/pojo531.zip.

And, please read the ReadMe file after downloading.

Well it depends on if you have windows xp or not, if you don't have windows xp I think you have to use winzip or so in the apprentice map, if you have xp you just have to save it in the apprentice map.

There are many terms in Apprentice that are meant for Magic: The Gathering. I'll define the most important ones for you:

1. Library = Deck
2. Graveyard = Discard Pile
3. Hand = Hand (duh!)

Here are the basics for playing a game, these are also the same basics I use when playing a game online with someone:

1. First go to File and scroll down to "Deck Editor" click on this.
2. It will show two columns, one that has all the cards, and one for your deck.
3. To add a card to your deck click on it and click the add button. (Remember only 60 cards per deck!) You can even type in the name of your deck.
4. After you're down with creating it, click on the red disk icon to save your deck.
5. Now that you have your deck, I'll talk about the other things.

START PLAYING
1. There are two ways to play "Solitaire" or "Connect via the Internet". Solitaire is to play by yourself and to get a feel for the program. Connect via the Internet is to play against someone on the net. Who knows? You could be playing someone halfway across the world!
2. Go to file and select new game.
3. Your deck will be shown as well as a bunch of options. Where it says starting life change it from 20 to 0. You don't really need this. On "starting hand" set the number to 7.
4. When you start playing you will have 7 cards automatically drawn for you. If you have a basic Pokémon you can put it face down on the table. To do this hold SHIFT and click on the card you want to put down. This will place the card face down on the table. If you don't want to place a card face down just drag it out to the table normally.
5. After each player's turn you must right click on the table and select the option "End your turn". This will end your turn and give the other player control. At the bottom of the screen it shows who's turn it is.
6. Oh yeah! I forgot to mention. You probably noticed the chat box at the bottom. Here you can chat with your opponent and view what is happening in the game. WHAT IS THAT!? Your name is SCRUB??? Well, don't worry you can change this, LOL. At the top go to "Options" and then select "Set Name", here you can type your nickname.

Now I'm going to describe some of the controls:

1. To flip a coin just press CONTROL + F.
2. If you play Prof. Oak for example and you want to discard your hand, go to the top and find actions, and select "hand" then select "move hand to graveyard" and you will discard your hand!
3. If you get damaged, right click on your card an select "add a damage counter", simple huh?
4. When you play trainers, need to discard energy, or your Pokémon is knocked out, simply right click on the card you want to discard, and select "bury" and you will discard it. If you use Item Finder and want a card back from your Discard pile (Graveyard) select the Graveyard icon and drag the card from the Graveyard to your hand.

Last but not least.......

HOW DO U PLAY ON THE INTERNET??!?!?!?
CALM DOWN!!! Here's how:

1. Go to "File".
2. Select "New Game.
3. Make sure you have your deck and instead of checking off "Solitaire" check off the circle next to "Connect via the Internet".
4. A pop-up box will appear and it will ask for your opponent's IP number. On the bottom of the box is your IP number, if you want to play against someone just ask them their IP number and type it in. Then click "ok". The person who is getting called by YOU checks off "Waiting for call" and clicks "ok". You should be playing in no time!!! Enjoy!!

That's straight from the Pojo Pokemon Website.

As for extracting, it means copy and paste or move all the files in the patch to where Apprentice is installed. To extract, you can use Windows' own Extractor, only on Windows ME and XP. If you dont have ME or XP, or worse, you have a Mac, download Winzip from http://www.winzip.com

Zangoosed: Anyime.
Haymaker: Learn to play the game, or the program?

If you downloaded the patch, you may want to run a virus scan on your computer. A Trojan was entered into my site and it has been there since around February. The worst damage it can do is freeze/crash your PC and fill it with spyware and search bars, but I still suggest running it. I appologize for any inconvience this may have caused.

Also, an update to the patch has been made to correct Suicune ex's text. It can be downloaded at http://www.animeplanetnet.net/pojo533.zip

To connect through the mIRC chat to play other people, you need to download mIRC/ or an MIRC script by going to http://www.mirc.com.

Connect to the server mediadriven.dyndns.org by typing /server mediadriven.dyndns.org

Join #Pojo by typing /join #Pojo

Ask to play people and viola.

Press Shift while dragging the card to place it face down.

The patch is located at the same URL. The site has just been down a little for the past few days. Shouldn't be as bad now. It's the price you pay for free hosting lol.

I don't understand your Network connection question. You mean through like a cell phone? No.
