Equip Cards
An “Equip Card” is any card that is equipped to a face-up monster on the field. Spell Cards with the Equip Icon are the most common type of Equip Card, and are officially called Equip Spell Cards. They are treated as both Spell Cards (They would be destroyed by the effect of “Heavy Storm”) and Equip Cards (for purposes such as “Gearfried the Swordmaster”.) Other cards may become Equip Cards though card effects, like with “Sword Hunter” or Union Monsters. Whenever a Monster Card becomes an Equip Card, it is treated as an Equip Spell Card, and is no longer a Monster Card. So a “Dark Magician” equipped to your “Sword Hunter” as an Equip Card could be destroyed by “Heavy Storm” but not “Tribute to the Doomed”.
Some Trap Cards, like “Blast with Chain”, can also become Equip Cards. These cards are considered Equip Cards but are NOT Equip Spell Cards. This means that it is a Trap Card (and could be destroyed by “Remove Trap”) and an Equip Card (for purposes such as “Gearfried the Swordmaster”.) It is not a Spell Card, and could not be destroyed by “De-Spell”.
http://www.upperdeckentertainment.com/yugioh/en/faq_advanced.aspx
Finally, America recognizes that equipment traps stay as traps. And aren't Magic cards.
And another change: "If it is destroyed by your opponent’s "Harpie’s Feather Duster", "Dust Tornado", etc. while it is an Equip Spell Card, "Dark Necrofear" will NOT return during the End Phase since it was NOT destroyed while a Monster Card."
http://www.upperdeckentertainment.com/yugioh/en/faq_card_rulings.aspx?first=D&last=E
This also conforms to the long-standing Japanese ruling. The previous English ruling said that if it was destroyed while an equip, it would activate the effect but it would only work if it wasn't used already on that turn. The reason for the ruling was that it would create a loop if Gearfried was the only monster on the opponent's field.

Yay. Spell Canceller has just attained power with this.
Now we need Kunai with Chain to make it better. About time, UDE... they're FINALLY moving out.

Last I checked demon's could use an extra boost to keep up with the ever growing power of fighter's and undead's. You know demon's don't have any decent support in ways of magic or traps wheren fighters and undeads have lots! (Calling Reinforcments, Warrior's Return, Book of Life, Call of the Corpses)

I agree. I think most of Bakura's unreleased Anime-Only cards are great Demon supporters. Why they won't release them puzzles me. Even though they're trying to move away from the Anime.

The Japanese ダーク・ネクロフィア (Dark Necrofear) still says "if it's destroyed", not "if it's destroyed while it's a Monster Card".
So I guess the Japanese card text has been wrong all this time. Nice of UDE to finally get it right on the English card. Wonder if the Japanese card will ever get fixed. probably not.

The only problem is the undead lock monsters aren't demons tehre undeads so Demons would get no support from them. No something like Ghost Shield, that would be another thing.

I was speaking more from the point of view that Necrophia is my favorite monster because Bakura uses it and it is awesomely powerful.
Now that they have downgraded it, they owe it to Bakura fans to set things right by giving us more Bakura cards.
Demons do need more support though, people talk about them having plenty, but they could definitely use more.
And Ghost Shield would be awesome.

Since I had my rear end handed to me by a fiend beatdown deck last week I'm going to respectfully disagree about demons not having enough support. More Bakura cards would be cool, though.

With all of the wonderful tech. demons like Jelloid, Neudoria, Hell Poet, Puppet Master, Dark Necrophia, etc. Wellreally need some crazy support to go with them. And no Twilight Fusion doesn't count as demon support.

No, the Japanese Card is merely unclear. That's why there are Japanese Rulings to further support the card. If they try and put every nuance into the card text - it won't fit.
But if you still want to argue it that way, then the English card is also wrong, because it omitted the ruling that [Dark Necrofear] doesn't get the effect if it isn't in the Graveyard during the End Phase.

But before they do that, how about giving Wind Type monsters as a whole ANY spells or traps! Rising Air Current only goes so far.

Just for the point of Necrophia's effect...
The newest text from BE2:
このカードは通常召喚できない。
自分の墓地の悪魔族モンスター3体をゲームから除外して特殊召喚する。
このカードが相手によって破壊され墓地に送られた場合、そのターンのエンドフェイズ時に装備カード扱いにな り相手モンスターに装備する。
このカードが装備されている限り、装備モンスターのコントロールを得る。
Yes...it reads "When this card is destroy by your opponent and is send to Graveyard".
Oh well...the Necrophia ruling that it can only activate only when it's a monster is LONG history in Japan...hack...I play it that way for 3 years already...
On "Equipment Trap"...finally UDE decide to change it...take them THIS long...

Meanwhile, Konami has NEVER fixed the Japanese version of DN.

If UDE is doing a good job, then why did it take a long time for the [Dark Necrofear] ruling to get corrected? (Was it really 3 years??? UDE deserves some sort of diploma for this.)
Doesn't it irk you even a bit? That you are told to play/rule this way. And then afterwards they tell you that what they told is wrong. Instead, play/rule like this from now on. And meanwhile our friends in Japan has been playing/ruling it the right way for all this time.
And [Dark Necrofear] isn't the only goof-up. And it won't be the last.
 Yep, UDE is doing a better job than Konami - in making the game more confusing than it already is.

Why 3 years? It takes 3 years to finally get UDE knows what they're doing...
I mean...look at the current environment compare to before...
English get parallel release, get Structure decks now, and begins to push toward the ban.
With that, UDE also have a VERY GOOD rule database (It's actually better than the KoJ one), and all the rules start to parallel that of Japan.
And how long does it take?? Again...3 years...

I dunno. Maybe UDE actually believes in following what the card says? They finally errata the card and the rule changes the same day. Sounds like linkage to me.
Konami just makes rules up and ignores what they themselves write on the cards.
English ruling = English card.
Japanese ruling is totally different from what the Japanese text says.
Maybe I'm just old fashioned but I think the cards should actually have text that says what they do. Konami doesn't agree, obviously.

And it still took them 3 years to errata to follow the Japanese Ruling. People can get an Associate's Degree in 2 years. And it takes them 3 years to correct a ruling for a game?

One can just look at English Archfiends vs. Japanese デーモン and see that you are wrong.
How many Japanese Cards are ruled as デーモン, yet they don't have デーモン in their name? Zero!
How many English Cards are ruled as Archfiend, yet they don't even have Archfiend in their name? Currently 8. So why are these cards ruled as Archfiend? Because their Japanese Card counterparts have デーモン in their name. Japanese Card has more influence on English Rulings than English Card

ROFL I'll give you an example of a card text that is blatantly wrong.
[Jinzo]
As long as this card remains face-up on the field, Trap Cards cannot be activated. The effects of all face-up Trap Cards are negated.
This English card has been around as long as [Dark Necrofear] and worse it is a more used card.

Here's the Ruling:
Ah yes. THIS question.
When a Spell or Trap Card is activated, its effect sort of 'floats on
the field'. The fate of the actual Spell or Trap Card is irrelevant.
This is why Pot of Greed's effect still resolves even if it's destroyed in
a chain with MST.
In this case, even though the Mirror Force card isn't on the field, its
effect is still floating on the field, waiting to resolve.
So Jinzo negates the effect because it's still on the field.

Here's the English Card text again:
[Jinzo]
As long as this card remains face-up on the field, Trap Cards cannot be activated. The effects of all face-up Trap Cards are negated.
Just in case you haven't noticed - the last part of the card text is erroneous: "The effects of all face-up Trap Cards are negated." It is in contradiction to the ruling. The Trap Card doesn't need to be face-up, it just has to be activated from the field.
At least they correspond with the rulings. Konami's Japanese cards are blatantly different from the rulings. I'm glad somebody's making an effort so that our cards don't contradict the rulings.

Well...Gearfried text is errated (from the official english site):
---------------------------
Gearfried the Iron Knight
(Pharaoh's Servant, Starter Deck Joey, 2003 Collector's Tins, Dark Beginning 1)
When an Equip Card is equipped to this card, destroy the Equip Card.
---------------------------
So, it still work...
I'm impress by UDE through, they finally get together the game, and push the game even better than Konami...(at least the tourney system have finally gone together...and sneak preview?? They don't even have THAT in Japan!!)
