Now that the Ozzfest homepage has been updated with the bands and dates:

Ozzfest — the king of festivals — triumphantly returns this summer to celebrate its hard-earned 10th anniversary with the staggering line-up of BLACK SABBATH, IRON MAIDEN, ROB ZOMBIE, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, SHADOWS FALL and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY. The summer's premier concert festival — which has propelled many of today’s rock bands to superstardom while paying close attention to its discerning fans — will roll out July 15 in Boston and visit 26 cities by the time it reaches West Palm Beach on September 4. The Hot Topic Second Stage will be headlined by ZOMBIE and feature a preview of rock's rising stars, including AS I LAY DYING, MASTODON, THE HAUNTED, IN FLAMES, ARCH ENEMY, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, BURY YOUR DEAD, SOILWORK, TRIVIUM, IT DIES TODAY, A DOZEN FURIES and more.

"I'm most proud of the success of Ozzfest," says founder Sharon Osbourne. "Everyone said it would never happen and 10 years later we are still in business." In fact, 125 bands, 238 shows and over 4 million fans later, the all-day extravaganza of music and deranged merriment is roaring louder than ever. History in the making, 2005 marks the first time metal legends BLACK SABBATH and IRON MAIDEN have toured together and also represents IRON MAIDEN's first Ozzfest appearance.

IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce ****inson said, "This summer's MAIDEN touring is based on the recent 'Early Days' DVD and all the songs we do at Ozzfest will be from our first four albums — 'Iron Maiden', 'Killers', 'Number of the Beast' and 'Piece of Mind'. We will be bringing over our full European show, naturally including as special guest Eddie in various appropriate guises!! The stage sets, production and backdrops will recreate aspects of the shows on the tours around those albums — only bigger… much bigger!!! We don’t know if anyone has done anything like this before but we think it’s something the fans will really appreciate both in the choice of songs and in the production values."

Also debuting on the tour will be Texas-based band A DOZEN FURIES who landed their coveted Hot Topic Second Stage slot after winning Ozzy and Sharon's MTV "Battle For Ozzfest" reality series competition. Debuting last fall and lasting right up until the February launch of the fourth and final season of the Emmy-award winning "The Osbournes", "Battle For Ozzfest" is the ultimate battle of the bands, with contestants having survived 2004's grueling Ozzfest challenges.

This year, a limited number of fans who purchase OZZY OSBOURNE's first-ever 51-song, four-CD retrospective box set "Prince Of Darkness" (out March 22 of Epic Records) will be able to obtain one free Ozzfest ticket. The initial pressing of the box set will feature a precedent-setting promotion allowing fans to buy one Ozzfest general admission ticket and get one free.

Ozzfest, originally launched in 1996 as a limited two-city trek, has become a virtual breeding ground for up-and-coming bands. The renowned second stage has been instrumental in catapulting the careers of SYSTEM OF A DOWN, LINKIN PARK, LIMP BIZKIT, INCUBUS, SLIPKNOT, DISTURBED, GODSMACK and CHEVELLE. "Playing Ozzfest — twice — will always be among the highlights of our career," notes drummer Samuel Loeffler of CHEVELLE, who most recently appeared in the festival’s 2003 line-up. "Personally speaking, I was honored and somewhat nervous about sharing the stage with Ozzy, but finally felt comfortable after both he and Sharon patted me on the ass."

The heavy metal juggernaut has earned a hallowed position in the busiest tour season with a relentless commitment to its core fans and the consistency of quality they demand as their birthright. Just as the festival is committed to presenting the best music, it also provides an interactive, multi-sensory experience for concert-goers with a wide-range of attractions. The traveling show’s notorious "Village Of The Damned" — alive with tattoo artists, piercing booths, state-of-the-art video games, a wide range of vendors and much more — promises to be wickedly tempting.

JUDAS PRIEST — one of the biggest attractions on last year's tour — declared: "We were thrilled to be part of such a unique moment in heavy metal history that will be remembered forever!" Jonathan Davis — lead singer for KORN, who pounded the main stage in 2003 — added, 'Ozzy and Ozzfest are some of the cornerstones of metal. I loved playing in front of the Ozzfest crowd, the fans at those shows were f$*#ing amazing."

In addition to drawing vital hard rock acts, Ozzfest has always attracted a variety of select sponsors devoted to the tour's core fan base. Hot Topic — returning to host the second stage — will be the festival’s official soft line teen retailer. Throughout the day, Tama drums and Ibanez guitars will proudly showcase their arsenal in the Village. F.Y.E. (For Your Entertainment) is on board for the fifth consecutive year as the official music retailer and will host the FYE autograph tent giving fans the opportunity to meet some of their favorite Ozzfest artists. Trojan brand condoms will also have presence in the Village as the official latex condom of Ozzfest. Jagermeister will once again bring the backyard BBQ party back to Ozzfest and prove their commitment to metal music with artist autograph signings and tons of free swag for attendees 21 and over.

I'll probably be attending the one in DC, just so I can go see Iron Maiden and Rob Zombie. Who else will be going?

I will be going to the Dallas show if I can get some money, which won't take THAT long.

Ticket costs should be about $35-45 for the lawn, and about $100 for the pits. It's all general admission, so it doesn't matter about seats or anything, because well, there really aren't any.

There is still one unannounced band, but it is heavily rumored to be Anthrax, with their "Among the Living" lineup. That would be nice, I think. Anyone else going or hear rumors?

I heard it was gonna be SOAD because of their new album coming out and all.

Also, I would be even more eager to go this year if they had last year's lineup for this year.

:sigh:

^What sucks is that Zombie is 2nd stage....wtf...?

They should take friggin' Shadows Fall off main stage and put Zombie in place....sheesh.

Gotenkz1025
03-18-2005, 06:56 AM
I'm not really that excited by Zombie being there. I liked his older stuff, from his first album, but after that it got kinda stupid. Hopefully there will be a better band on the first stage that will make up for the rest of the sucky ones on the second stage. It would be nice to be there for more than two bands.

I'd actually like to see 'Limp Bizkit' be the unannounced band.

Their new stuff is so awesome.

Their new stuff, as in Results May Vary?

That album was even more rap influenced than the previous. Ugh.

I'm thinking of going with a friend to the West Palm show.

In other news, Iron Maiden will not be playing the last seven tour dates. I wonder who will replace them?

Question: WTF is ozzfest?

sixersballernum3
03-18-2005, 10:36 PM
Ozzfest is, well, Ozz's Fest.

It's Ozzy Osbourne's festival, not concert, and it has brought out many bands such as System of a Down.

And there's always some old classic metal band there, too, like this year there's Iron Maiden.

I hope you're kidding considering I lived in Chicago when that whole thing went down.

And if you aren't, I am going to have to kick your ass over the internet....I don't know how I will do it, but I will find a way.

Interesting, so that's why all the Gothy kids talk about it.

WTF???

There is a BIG difference between "goth" kids and metal heads. Ozzfest is 100% pure f'ing metal. "Goth" kids sit around all day hating the world and wanting to commit suicide. Metal is rage and hatred towards the norm.

Please, try not to mix them up again.

EDIT:
If you're referring to those kids that wear all black and studded crap, then you are yet again mistaken. They are stupid posers that need to wear that crap to "seperate" themselves and get attention. Refer to them from now on as mall goths, which is what they are since they can't get any real friends and need to go to the mall to "scare" people and grab their attention.

The sole reason I would see this would to see how the crowd reacts to Mark and a Dozen Furies. Other than that there'd be no point in going to this fest of.... I'll just end there. I watched the little show earlier in the year to see who'd win, and I'd like to know how far their win will take them. Into superstardom, or into short lived career one hit wonders.

Limp Bizkits older stuff was great, but i think there new stuff is kinda crap, too much rap influence for me to enjoy

but back on topic, its sucks that ozzfest isnt coming anywhere near jacksonville this year, the line up looks great IMO(but not as great as past years) :(

They're still around? Geez. They should've been shot for that horrible cover of Behind Blue Eyes.

Anyways, there is still one band on the tour that has yet to be announced. Rumors are Anthrax will be the band..who do you think it'll be?

Cha0s S0ldier
03-21-2005, 02:13 PM
i think Limp Bizkits next album may be good because they got Wes Borland back at guitar.

and ive also heard rumors the last band will be Anthrax,i would make a guess at who i think it will be but im always horribly wrong when it comes to guesses lol

Blade Golem
03-22-2005, 02:31 PM
Well, it's nice to see that we're having a decent Ozzfest two years in a row, this is quite fair. HOWEVER, the southern fans are getting royally screwed as Iron Maiden won't be playing the last 7 shows. If you're in Texas and planning to go for Maiden...don't bother. There are a few other good bands on it, though.

EDIT: And Ozzfest, pure metal? I'm assuming that means this year, even though as usual there's some non-metal going around there. I have to admit though, this year and last year HAVE been a large improvement in the metal to worthless garbage ratio at Ozzfest.

Greg
03-22-2005, 03:06 PM
thats cool, in my opinion no band can touch the who, maybe zeppelin and floyd come close , back to ozzfest, anyone from britain going to the festivals this years, i usually go to glastonbury, V and reading but im not going to any that have the darkness headlining

I have enough money to go to Ozzfest this year, and I really can't wait to see Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Killswitch Engage, and Shadows Fall on stage at the same event! (I say KSE and SF because they're from my area and I've seen them perform around here before they went national :D )

It would be so awesome, and random if the original G&R were to reunite and be on the ticket, but I think we all know that that isn't going to happen. As for Korn's cover of "Another Brick in the Wall", it's alright, but the level of greatness doesn't even come close to the original by Pink Floyd. In fact, I think most covers that were made in the past few years really were horrible. (It really makes me miss Quiet Riot's cover of Slade's "Come On, Feel the Noise" :( )

I don't know... The new Mudvayne (the removed makeup version) is alright, but I kinda was expecting a little more. But, hey, Ozzfest should still be one of the best events in YEARS.

There's also a tour with Judas Priest and Queensryche that's stopping in CT... I want to see it so badly, but I had to save money. It sucks, but I think Ozzfest will make up for it. :D

You should have just went to Ozzfest last year to see Priest...I'm either seeing both, or just seeing Priest, even though I've seen them already. (I really hope to see both, though) Since Iron Maiden won't be making it to the Texas shows, it would be better to go see Priest, even though I really want to be able to stick around for Black Sabbath's whole set this time. Not much else is going on there that great, though (although having Mastodon is cool). And hey...Poison would have been better than Mudvayne. :p

So what has everyone thought about it that has gone.

I havent been to a concert in nearly 7 years and that was a Backstreet Boys one because my stepsisters wanted to go and I was "forced" to go.

Im more into country and rock n' roll, but I can go for Black Sabbath, Trivium, Black Label Society, Iron Maiden, Rob Zombie and System of a Down.

Can anyone tell me about the rest of the bands and the type of atmosphere and like how long does it last.

man, at the utah one there are seats, seats that can't move. There is an area for 250 seats that can move, they are right up by the stage, other than that, seats or lawn. Lawn=$35, Seats=$38-45, Pit=$75(i think). Backstage party like a rockstar is $300 something.
So basically, i'm not going because A. Seats/Lawn sucks B. Pit is way to expensive

So true. Most people that go are morons that dress in all black and know nothing about the music.

The only good second stage bands are Rob ZOmbie and Killswitch Engage...how the hell does In Flames and Shadows Fall get first stage over them (I don't even know who the **** they are).

Blade Golem
07-18-2005, 12:38 AM
Let's see....Shadows Fall has got pretty popuar recently, and they're actually a decent metalcore band with some shredding. In Flames used to be decent (melo-death) but on their last two albums they turned to mallcore, so they'll fit right in at Ozzfest. I actually prefer Shadows Fall over Killswitch Engage as they're arguably the better band. As for them getting first stage over Rob Zombie....meh, if it was White Zombie I'd be pissed about it, but as is, it doesn't really bother me.

I actually got stadium seats for Main Stage.

Without a doubt, Rob Zombie's performance on Second Stage was the best of the night. Black Sabbath definately had the best for Main Stage. I was disappointed in Iron Maiden, as I thought Black Label Society was better then them in their performance.

Overall, it was a decent show, but it was like 95 so it was way too hot.

Ok, I went to Ozzfest on Wednesday and it was so awesome! I went just a little while after school let out. I got there to see a band I don't know (possibly Mudvayne), Velvet Revolver (rawk) and, of cource, BLACK SABBATH (super RAWK)! This was honestly the best concert I've been to. (The sad part is that this is Ozzy's last Ozzfest even though they're still going to be doing them. Yeah, it makes no since.) My only complaint is that they didn't do any Ozzy-himself songs like Crazy Train or Mr. Crowley, but they did do some classics like Paranoid, Black Sabbath, War Pigs, Iron Man, etc. It was truly a lot of fun. I unfortunately didn't get to see Rob Zombie, but that's ok. I got to see Revolver and Sabbath, so I'm very happy!
