Cards are only banned in certain formats.
A card gets banned because its effect on the enviroment is too monumentially good that it becomes a situation of play the card or lose to it.

banned and restricted cards. are only for tounament formats.
you can still use them in decks just not when sanctioned prizes are on the line.
they don't ban cards entirely though there are some implied bans by most players. mainly ante cards. which their main use now is only to complete a set of cards from whatever expansion they are in I think it's homelands but I'm not sure.

With the exception of ante cards and chaos orb type cards, you always gona be able to play atleast one copy of any card in SOME format...

I am going to give you a straigt answer. The game is crazy in certin formats without it. its just out of controll to play with certin card combo's.

is they are kinda biast against combo style decks and they let control just run wild in my opinion WoG should've been ditched a while back and replaced with something that costs 5 mana and they should reprint that.
or aggro decks sure they ban a little land called ancient's tomb but why don't they go and ban psychatog...
not saying they should it's just the other styles have their little game breakers too and all they care about is combo decks.

ok, tinker needed to be taken apart. Literally it was too **** strong. Its two main lands needed the axe as did grim monolith, tinker, and in my opinion metalworker really needs the axe too. Im surprised that suicide brown hasnt abused him yet.

in my opinion WoG should've been ditched a while back and replaced with something that costs 5 mana and they should reprint that. Except it isn't broken, or even overpowered. It is not a detriment to the game.
or aggro decks sure they ban a little land called ancient's tomb but why don't they go and ban psychatog... Psychatog wasn't broken. Creatures can't be broken. They're too vulnerable.
Also, if it is not to much to ask, can you type like a normal person and not a five year old child unleashed upon the internet?

but.. Tog IS broken with Upheaval and Counterspells. Creatures aren't vulnerable when you are playing blue and have 2 untapped mana.

too too too too sad learn to spell and stop making yourself the standard of normality I'll admit it I'm weird deal with it.
also on a humorus note. If the minimum wasn't enough they wouldn't call it the minimum.
plus punctuation is a waste of time when everyone can read your handwriting.
... is probably better than saying "that it is" after everything I say
if I could I would type in short hand but that would probably make some of the mods mad at me.
plus don't go saying creatures can't be broken that just makes you sound like an idiot.
why on earth do you think the darksteel colossus got it's third ability.

Creatures cannot be broken. They are far too vulnerable; anything from Swords to Bolt can kill a creature, even Psychatog.
You do not need two blue mana in a format where there are free counterspells (T1, T1.5 and Ext) and counterspell is not viable in the formats its legal in.
A creature can be handled by every color. Other permanents and spells cannot.
I suggest that you both familiarize yourselves with the game some more before whining about 'Tog.

I'm not whining. I'm just stating facts. It was broken when it was in Type 2 with the Invasion block as it had access to Fact or Fiction, Counterspell, Upheaval, and others. When Onslaught came in, it was weakened, but still powerful. If played a few games against Tog, you would know.
Counterspell isn't viable? WTF? I seriously doubt that you have played against control in a Contructed format (Type 2, Tyle 1.X). In Type 1.X, Counterspell is one of the most powerful cards. Almost any deck that plays blue plays counters. I realize it isn't as good in Type 1/1.5, but it's still pretty good. What else do you have behind Force of Will and Mana Drain? Not much.
Creatures can't be broken? What do you call Morphling?

Fact or Fiction was broken, but not 'Tog.

back when it was type II legal I remember everyone I knew had their own version of a tog deck.
and I also remember how dumb it was when I looked at the top world champ decks and almost 80% of them were psychatog decks.
thats what I remember most about the tog
also, I'd say drop the ego...
I'm willing to admit I'm a type II player. I don't know crap about extended's metagame as of the moment. but to me this aggro metagame you mention seems to revolve around what combo decks are being used. or at least they are all that's ever talked about outside of any of the tourneys I'm guessing they just make better conversation or articles.

Just because everyone used it doesn't mean its broken. You had nearly what, ten turns to win before it went off?

my previous examples seem to have steered this whole thing off topic...

the best banned/restricted cards i think are the unglued cards, my friend turned my 27/27 broodstar into a 1/1 chciken with foul play, the he pinged it

I think we have gotten a little off topic here. We're not quite answering his question.
