oooh, coolness. here's a trailer for chapter 3 of my retromud fic.
Chapter Three trailer:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Ssso..that'sss how it'sss going to be, eh?" Narn said cooly, turning to face his blue-haired foe. Callen furrowed his brow and snarled. Narn got into a fighting stance and pointed his Fellblade at Callan's heart. He licked his lips, then charged, shouting "THEN LET'SSS PLAY!!!"
************************************************** ********
Rebekah screamed when she looked over, "Callan, you idiot!" she tried to run to her comrade but was knocked the other way when something hard connected with her jaw. She flew backwards and tumbled onto the freshly paved street. When she looked up, she saw the second Dragonian looming over her, flicking his forked tongue.
"Your fightsss with me." He said enthusiastically. Rebekah gritted her teeth. Flog didn't notice her hands changing colors from yellow to purple...
************************************************** ********"WAIT, WAIT!" Vrismag shouted, jumping back as Kumog's blade sliced at the air where Vrismag stood a moment ago. Kumog stopped, spit, and said coldly,
"What?" Vrismag suddenly went from looking scared stiff to businesslike. He gave Kumog an icy cold glare and said,
"Your fights not with me."
Daris's eyes glinted across Kumog's shining scales.
************************************************** ********
Flog lunged at Rebekah. She rolled to the side as he whizzed by her head. Before he completely passed however, a ray of purple shot from Rebekah's hand and connected with Flog's stomach. Blood spattered out his mouth as he flew sideways.
************************************************** ********
Narn and Callan had brought their battle to the sky, fiercly looking for an opening for their blade to cut. Narn's fellblade and Callan's sword of faith collided, and they found themselves in a death struggle. Narn pulled a dirty trick, however, and kicked Callan away.
"Nrrg!" Callan growled as he tumbled backward through the air. Narn smirked and raised his hands above his horned head. His hands slowly became black as night. Narn cackled with glee as what appeared to be humans shot from the blackness and ripped through Callan.
************************************************** ********
Kumog swerved his head side to side, trying to keep up with Daris and Vrismag. They were going too fast. And then, they were infront of him. Fellblades extended. They screamed out in unison "Imbue..DISINTEGRATION!" All Kumog saw was a pale green erupt from the tips of their blades, and suddenly he felt as if his skin was melting. If the fires of Hell were painful, then this was excruciating His roar pierced the air as he stumbled backwards, onto the ground.
************************************************** ********
Callan dropped from the sky like a brick, leaving a trail of blood in his wake. His wings were bent and torn, which could be said for the rest of his body. His blue hair masked his face as the wind blew it upward, but his mouth appeared, and he sputtered in disbelief "No....way..."
Fade to black ;)
I'm currently writing a "Pokemon" fic called "Aquarius". The first eight chapters have been posted on my own site and fanfiction.net and I'm working on Chapter Nine. I was hoping to have it ready while EZBoard was still up, but I guess it'll look just as good here.
I don't have a disc with the upcoming chapter with me, but I will post an extract from Chapter Five to give people a rough idea what it's all about:
Only Autumn's Pikachu had noticed his trainer's capture and was now trying desperately to get attention from Marc, Jeremy and Candida. "Pika pikachu!" he called urgently, pointing to the vent with frantic gestures. "Pika! Pika!"
"Shh, Pikachu - they'll hear you," Candida whispered, pressing her finger against her lips. If there were Team Midnight agents in Aquarius - and, after seeing that man's uniform and tattoo, she had no doubt there were - the last thing they would want was to have kids overhear their plans, whatever they were. The appearence of the Team Midnight agent exposed a major flaw in the vent as a hiding place - sound carried far too easily and this meant they would have to get out as fast as possible . . .
But there was no silencing the frantic Pokemon, who continued to shout and point, trying to tell the three youngsters that Autumn had been taken and might be in serious trouble. "Pika pikachu pi pika pika!" he insisted. And, even as Candida clamped her hand over his mouth in a bid to keep him quiet, she began to realise something wasn't quite right; she had only known Autumn's Pikachu for a short time, but she already knew he would never shout like this unless something was wrong. Looking round at her companions, she realised what that something was . . .
"Marc, Jeremy," she whispered to the two boys, "have either of you seen Autumn?"
They shook their heads. "Not since that Team Midnight agent showed up," Marc replied. "You don't think . . .?" He paused, unable to bring himself to say the words he had been about to utter. Not that it mattered because Jeremy and Candida had both realised the same thing . . .
"That Team Midnight has her?" prompted Candida, keeping a tight hold of Autumn's Pikachu for fear the Pokemon might run off again. She did not dare squeeze too hard in case the Pikachu did what she had been warned Electric Pokemon often did when held too tightly and gave her a Thundershock. "I was just thinking that myself and, as soon as we're out of here, we're going to find her."
"We don't even know where they've got her," Marc reminded her. "And besides . . ."
"It was you nosy boys who landed us in this mess," Candida reminded him. "And, if you stop to think about it, she must be somewhere in Aquarius and we have to figure out where . . ."
Introduction to the Bunker...
An ongoing story, posted on the Pokémon portion of Pojo.com, included in my Deck Mechanic articles.
7 Chapters have been released so far, and a website with pictures and scenes from the fics is soon to be released.
---------------------------------
Slowly, the door to the recently vacated Satoshi's Shop creaks open, the darkness pierced by a single beam of sunlight.
A lone figure dressed in a trenchcoat, jeans and a shirt with "ph34r" emblazoned on the front steps in, an Umbreon perched on his shoulder. Under his arm, he carries a rolled up blueprint and deed for the Shop. He walks around the counter, slowly running his hand along its surface, leaving four trails in the dust where his fingers passed.
The Umbreon leaps off of the figure's shoulder onto the counter, sliding on all the dust and falling off the other side.
"...Graceful."
A slight sound from the darkness amongst the shelves sets the figure on his guard, his free hand drawing back his trenchcoat to reveal an elaborate, gleaming sai. The Umbreon, with grey streaks on its fur from sliding in the dust, leaps back onto the counter and growls. From the deep black of the abandoned Shop, a voice emerges.
"Here already?"
The figure slowly turns, his posture becoming more relaxed, allowing the trenchcoat to cover the metallic weapon once again. On the counter, a sudden brilliant light emerges from the Umbreon's golden rings, bathing the Shop in a slightly yellowish light. The stranger that spoke from the darkness can now be seen standing in between the empty shelves, wearing a Pojo jersey, with a large katana hung from his back.
"'Tashi?"
Satoshi: "I just didn't think you'd be here so quickly, Bondi. I was just gathering some...last minute things."
A loud crash, followed by deep-throated grumbling from the storage room sets Bondi on edge once again, quickly unsheathing a sai. From the doorway emerges Satoshi's Blastoise, which takes one look at Bondi, shrugs, and walks over to 'Tashi.
Blastoise: "I STILL CAN'T FIND MY CHEWY-TOY!"
Slapping his forehead in exasperation, Satoshi grumbles incoherently under his breath.
---------------------------------
New chapters are in the works, and will soon be released on a weekly basis. Check back often to the "Introduction to the Bunker..." topic, as well as http://www.pojo.com/pokemon/ for updates!
Under the New Moon
==========
The moon has always been a symbol of power, even before the concept of ‘I’ has existed in the minds of all humans. Long strives have been taken to understand just what the moon is, and why it seems to have such power over all of humanity. Despite having traveled to the moon and back, mankind is still unaware of the vast, mystifying properties that the sickly beauty possesses.
English literature tells us to fear the moon. It tells us that the full moon is a sign of pure evil, yet going further back in the Earth’s life, the eldest legends about the lonely ghost in the sky are found to be a near-perfect contradiction of the fables that we’ve learned to love today.
Such tales tell of the moon as a holy object, something that contains the evil, which licks at the minds of every human being on the planet when they are not expecting it. Without the moon’s protection, countless men and women will fall into the ever-growing darkness of this planet. Yet when the moon’s rays shine brightest, it touches the hearts of humans, giving them a sense of peace and tranquility within their hectic lives.
==========
It's one of the many little ideas that has been moving through my mind. It's just a prologue, really.. it doesn't even introduce the main characters yet. It's really just a suspense/mystery story about how the lack of the moon can destroy a person's sanity. It should be fun.
Exerpt from Anima sword, chapter 3.
The next day, Kamui and Shin continued on through the land to arrive at the kings' palace. "Man, I'm thirsty. We need to stop and get something to drink," Shin spoke. Kamui looked to him.
"If you need water now you are truly weak. We have been walking for but six hours. I haven't had water since right before we set up camp last night. You had it about an hour ago," Kamui spoke.
"So, are you calling me weak now?" Shin questioned angrily. Kamui looked angry. "See, the thirst is driving us at each others throats. I have faked very much. I am struggling to keep walking. We shall stop for water," Kamui declared. "Thank god," Shin said happily.
Kamui and Shin walked another two miles and came to the entrance of the city. "Well, I believe the main road to the city is right around the corner here," Kamui spoke. "Yes, ice cold beer, here I come," yelled Shin. He ran around the corner. It was like a desert city. Dirt roads, dirt flying in the air: just like the old Wild West.
"Man, I bet we'd be lucky if they had water to drink here," spoke Shin. They both entered the desert town. They saw no signs of life: no footprints in the dirt, no lights on in any building, no nothing. Then, down towards the end of the strip of buildings, they saw something.
"Did you see that?" asked Kamui. "What are you talking about?" asked Shin.
I've got a trailer... it's for a Pokefic called Blazing Ambitions I've been writing. Dumb name, I know. There's a funny story about it, actually....
*ahem* But one I will NOT get in to! Okay, here's an exerpt from Chapter one...
~~~
I leaned back in the hard wooden seat and looked to west down the road, checking to see how far the woods went. They continued down for about and eighth of a mile, I guessed, until the road turned slightly north, and I couldn't see past the turn.
I decided to get up and continue walking down the road. It was a side road, infrequently used, that led to a bridge leading across the river to the border between Kanto and Johto. Very few people walked across the border nowadays, which explained the few cars that drove down it. And the only cars that ever drove down in on a school day were police cars.
This road was commonly used by kids who skipped school, and wanted to get from Kanto to Johto or Johto to Kanto to stir up some trouble in another country. I wasn't really one of those people; it was just that ever since Johto and Kanto's governments had a little disagreement their friendship had disappeared into thin air, so my mom and I never went to Johto anymore. I guess that was why I skipped school today; to go to Johto to see it for myself.
I stood up, stretched and yawned, and then continued walking down the road, under the cover of the trees.
I walked until the road turned, and looked around the corner. It continued for a few yards, and then came to an old, wet wooden bridge going over a slow-moving river. I shrugged, and made a run for it, thinking it looked safe enough.
In taking my first step on it, I realized I was wrong- it wasn't safe. The old boards were creaking terribly, and it sounded as though it would break if I continued to walk across it. However, not about to give up, I took a few steps back, and then sprinted across it.
~~~
Yeah, I pulled that from chapter one. Yes, it's first-person. Hmm.... so, do you think it looks interesting enough? ^.~
Exerpt (sp) of the prologue of "The Thirteenth Advocate: Hellfire"
The Shadow Griever looked at the rapidly approaching town of Ciritel, a snarl of distaste forming on its thin lips.
“So many wastes of earth and water,” it growled, “but all of them will get what they deserve when the Thirteenth is re-awoken.” With that thought the snarl changed to a malicious grin, revealing sharply pointed teeth.
The Griever pulled down the hood of his voluminous navy cloak to lift its head slightly and sniff the air. Its black cat-like eyes rolled up into the back of its head and an in-human screech spit the air.
“The Malevolent ones are already here!” it howled indignantly. Its fellow Griever rode up next to it, blood red robes trailing an hitting its horses flanks.
“The Shaman is here as well, “ it hissed loudly over the clatter of hooves on the worn stone path.
The two dark creatures continued riding towards the large city, their mission set firmly in their minds.
The Blue Griever shuddered as they passed over the large stone bridge over the Rhianon River and into Ciritel. They had to kill the Malevolent ones. He knew that he and the Red would already be in trouble for not have been there waiting to kill the Malevolents when they arrived.
They slowed down after entering the town, and separated, scouring and weaving throughout the town. They tracked by the smell of twisted magic, which began to intensify so that the Grievers were able to narrow down the source.
Their tracking eventually led them to an inn, The Golden Lyre, where the stink of pure magic almost burned their thin slit-like nostrils. They dismounted and tied their horses to a fence that surrounded the building. Both put of the cowls of their cloaks to hide their pasty white complexions from view.
With the Red following, the Blue stepped into the in, the noise of his soft leather boots echoing unnaturally loudly. The common room was cramped, and a fog of pipe smoke floated glowing ominously by the light of the large fireplace at the far end of the room. The Blue walked toward the innkeeper, a fat man with a thick tangle of dark hair, wearing a spotless white apron, and hiding his action beneath his many layers of robes, unsheathed a thin sword with a handle shaped elegantly into the likeness of ocean spray and which matched the color of his cloak.
A grin split the Griever’s face, anticipation twitching within him as the fat man stepped forward cheerfully. The blade slid lightning quick from beneath the Griever’s robes and pierced the man’s chest and slit quickly downward.
The Shadow Griever’s eyes lit up with a sick glee as the man’s hot blood splattered him. He turned to the people sitting in the common room and his insane glee took him. Men stood to face him, but their weak arms and swords could only block a few hits of the blue sword before falling prey to the cold midnight steel’s bite.
I only have a few chapters written, and the writing is a slow process, I may post when I am done, but I am actually going to try to have it published.
Mwahahahahahahahahahaha! Here is the trailer for Obsession, the pokemon fanfic written January of 2002. It is generally considered the most successful fic in Pojo history, the only winner of the Triple Crown.
Under the dense canopy of tropical flora, a lone figure cut through the underbrush with a wooden machete. His hand traversed his forehead, wiping off the perspiration. It would soon be midday, and the humidity was high. He paused for a moment to catch his breath and look at his watch.
Anima sword, chapter four Preview
Kamui slowly inched his way up so he was standing. "Turn and face me so I can see the face of the man I shall kill," the voice said. Kamui slowly turned, not to quick, due to the fact that the object was still to his throat. As he turned, he noticed that to his throat was a dagger, not a sword.
The person was a young boy, a few years younger than Kamui. Kamui noticed this in his voice, but not in appearance. The boy was very tall for his age, and almost the same height as Kamui.
"Well, I'll be damned. Kamui Shinobi. Not only will I reward myself to your food and other belongings once you parish, but your bounty will sit tight with me as well," spoke the boy.
Kamui began to laugh. "Man, you kids today really are ignorant," Kamui spoke. He grasped his hand around the wrist with the dagger in it. The boy shrieked in pain.
LATER.................
Just then, Kamui heard a scream in the depths of a forest right on the outskirts of the city. Kamui and his friends had came into the city from the side. The forest was to the east of where they entered. Kamui heard the scream, and he was off.
“There goes that man causing more trouble. Probably going to kill some more people,” said a feisty old woman.
Kamui ran his heart out to get to the source of the screams. Sweat ran down his face as he ran in the one hundred degree heat of the village. He pushed low hanging tree branches out of his way as he continued to run.
Finally, he was so fatigued that he stopped and fell to one knee. Sweat fell from his head to the ground. Blood ran down his arms from cuts sustained by the low hanging branches. “Right where I want you!” said a voice of pure evil. Kamui looked up panting.
He looked up to see........................
2 and 4 are on route, as well as 1,7,5, & 3. This should be interesting." He turned to a container that had not been opened. He sighed and peered in.
"itsa shame." He said. "If you hadn't been so disobedient you could have seen some action. But you decided to be rebellious." He turned back to his monitors. "You'll have to be a last resort."
Here's the preview of my new Pokemon fic:
From the beginning of time, two lands have always been at peace. These lands were those known as Kanto and Johto. Different varieties of Pokemon were discovered in Johto (152-251), but Kanto had it's own type as well (1-151). The two nations were put through harsh times, but both remained friends.
Then came two siblings, two boys, who were separated from each other at the young age of 7. They had just begun to learn about each other, but then came the difficult separation. Each was sent to a different land, one to Kanto and one to Johto. They lived on, worlds apart.
Now, both at the ages of 14, the two lands have slowly tapered farther apart, both with different intentions. One wants war on the other land, while the other strives for protection.
A great war is about to begin, with the love of brothers and the love of Pokemon put to the test.
House of Time and Spirit
Gene turned on the sink and leaned down. He took some water up to his face and began to wash it. He took his time to wash his entire face including the bottom side of his jaw. Gene dried his face on the towel that hung on the white rod attached to the white wall. His gaze was caught by the view from the window. Gene walked over to the window and stared out to the world outside. Beside from a small undefined shape jutting out on the horizon, there was a lush green valley as far as the eye could see. A light breeze blew and lifted the light, almost see-through curtains into the air. Gene tore his eyes away from the beautiful sight, as he had more important things to do then stare.
heres the preview of my fic in the topic called, "do you think i should continue this?". if you havent read it, check it out...
I remember it was cold. It was always cold, and it always snowed. It was an endless stream of cold and snow. But it wasn’t a natural cold, and it wasn’t natural snow. It was fixed. Fixed to the requirements of our own little world. But, for some reason, the snow and the cold never stopped. It was never warm. I’d continually wonder why it was necessary for us to be so cold. Why was it necessary for us to have to treed through that snow every day? But it wasn’t my place to tell the Masters what we needed. That would just bring trouble.
I also remember the sky. It was never blue. It always seemed to be white. It was just pale and ordinary. There were no funny shaped clouds up there, just white. There was never any Sun to be seen, just white. Everything was just so cold, including the Masters. The Masters were so cold to us. I remember trying to plan our escape, but the Masters and their closest followers thwarted that. Nothing ever worked against them, so we did what they said.
I can remember seeing my friends disappear behind the closed doors of the Masters quarters. But I can’t remember ever seeing those friends come back. That world was terrible. But that world also gave us protection. No matter how much you didn’t want to admit it, that world was needed. Without it, we wouldn’t have anything. No matter how bad the Masters got, we knew it was all we had. We never got a chance to experience life anywhere else, so we took what we had. The rest of the world was fog to us. It was a fog that no one dared enter, and no one from the fog entered our world.
But then, just like that, someone entered our world. She was from the foggy world, the world without Masters. When she arrived, the cold seemed to lift. And then, after awhile, the snow vanished. And before I knew it, we could see clouds, and a blue sky. She was like a beam of light from Heaven, come to liberate us from the place we hated, yet loved.
As you can see, its very much like one flew over the cuckoos nest.
ive got two parts done now, and im working on the next part.
To Sentretcookie:
I'm sorry if I made you feel bad about that, and it was a coincidence. I'm pretty sure our fics are going to turn out pretty different, and different emphasis is going to be put on that specific part. I've also decided that that part is irrelevant to the plot, and I'm going to make changes. My apologies to you, Sentretcookie, and I don't want any hard feelings because of it. ;)
Good luck with your fanfic as well!
EDIT: I typed this before I read your first chapter, I only read the prologue. Now I realize that it IS quite coincidential how close the fics have turned out. It's actually kinda scary...
"Are you insane? It's Christmas Eve, I'm not calling to wake anyone up." Stephen looked at his watch. "Scratch that, it's been Christmas Day for fifteen minutes."
Ash looked heartbroken. Stephen hesitated.
"Gah...uh, okay, thanks, you can let me down now." Stephen brushed himself off. "I've known you for, what, four hours? What do you want to battle me for, anyway?"
"Because you're so cool," Ash said. "I mean, you were just one little step ahead of me when you battled in the Indigo League, and you got to the same level I was at in the Silver Conference---oh, this is going to be the best battle ever!"
Stephen sweatdropped. "Okay, okay, keep your shirt on." He lit a cigarette. "Listen, Ash, you don't want me as a role model."
"Huh? Why not?" Ash said, waving the smoke away.
"It's...complicated. You wouldn't understand."
Ash was offended. "Yeah I will. I hate it when people treat me like a baby. Now, what are you talking about?"
Stephen was uncomfortable. He changed the subject. "Er, Ash...you know, if you stay up too late, Santa won't come."
"Wuh? OH! Yeah! I gotta get to bed!" He ran back into the house. "See you tomorrow---I mean, today!"
Stephen was amused and a little surprised at how well it worked. He didn't think twelve-year-olds still believed in Santa.
However, he was still upset. What if Ash found out? What if everyone did?
He put out his cigarette.
Excerpt from chapter 4:
Lyn woke up. The first thing he noticed was that he was floating. Where am I? he thought.
He looked around. Below him, he saw a small red planet. He vaguely remembered it from his History classes, but couldn’t quite produce a name…
Mars. That was it. The planet was called Mars. Looking down at its desolate terrain, he wondered why early Humans had ever wanted to colonize a planet so obviously and utterly devoid of anything but an abundance of rocks and dust. It probably didn’t even have an atmosphere. But then, how was he breathing?
Then he remembered the space station. He looked around, and it was no where to be seen. What had happened to it?
“Don’t worry. Everyone else escaped. Without radiation shields, the space station overheated and evaporated.” It was Dreth’s voice. “They didn’t need to use radiation shields at first, but a terrible war caused their sun to begin releasing highly radioactive energy. This solar system is made even more barren by the fact that this radiation doesn’t penetrate through planets and does not go around them easily either. When we get to the dark side of Mars, it will be much colder. Fortunately for us, this planet has undergone little change in the past few millennia, so even outdated information on this planet will be accurate.”
“Then why are we still alive? And how did we get here from the Academy? Won’t the others worry about us?”
“It is time for them to learn the truth.”
