Gyarados 100HP

Stage 1
Evolves from Magikarp

(W) Dragon Crush
Flip a coin. If heads, this attack does 10 damage to each defending pokemon. Discard an energy card from each Defending Pokemon.

(W)(c)(c)(c)(c) Aqua Sonic 80
This attack is not affected by Resistance.

Weakness (L)
Resistance (None)
Retreat Cost (c)(c)

Well, for a stage one it has a decent HP. Its first attack, while it relies on flips, does two things. It both hits for 10 AND forces them to discard an energy. Not too bad, but only if it didnt rely on a coin flip... Awww well...Its next attack, Aqua Sonic, does 80 damage, and whats more its not affevted by resistance.BUT, the drawback is that it costs 1(W) an 5(c).

Good Bad
___________l___________
100 HP l Stage 1
80 Damage l Costs alot
Energy Killer l Relies on coin flip
l Weakness to (L)

Post your comments please. This is just my opinion.
Unlimited: 0.5/5
Too overcosted/relies on a coin flip
Modified: 2/5
A litle Overcosted, but you can get around it
Limited: 1.5/5
Too overcosted, but if you can pay the cost....
Nintendo Only: 3/5
Use Sceptile's Tranfer Energy or just power him/her up on the bench.

In nitendo only, i dont think u should rate it a four. Electabuzz is going to be in a lot of tech decks, and Ampharos ex wont be losing that much power, especially since it still has Gyrados.

From reading the first attack, it seems that no matter what, you discard an energy. It doesn't say "If heads... 10 damage to each defending Pokemon AND discard an energy from each defending Pokemon".

It's in two different sentences--two different effects.

I'm probably wrong, but yeah.

The energy discard is only done with a Heads on the coin flip. Many of those attacks are worded like that - Flip a coin. If heads, do something. Another sentence tells you to do another thing. But both are dependent upon the coin flip.

its pretty good, with good HP and damaging attacks for an uncommon. his first attack is too flippy and his second attack is too costly. the first attack can seriously slow your opponent if u can flip really well. energy removal destroys the second attack. raindance is good to get it powered up quickly to make a killer.

Actually they could use it in BAR, with it replacing Rayquaza.

Pros:

It does a consistant 80 a turn without any setbacks.
It's not a Pokemon-ex.

Cons:

It evolves.

Magnor: When listing Gyarados' stats, you said the big attack required 1 water and 4 colorless. However, In your description, you said it is 1 water & 5 colorless. That is a HUGE difference. With the first one, you can play a water energy and 2 DCEs, and do 80 consistently by turn 3. Otherwise, you have to wait till turn 4.

I don't think this card is that good. I guess you could play it in Unlimited with DCEs or Blastoise. But even with the DCEs it still takes 3 turns to attack & you'll probably get SERed or ERed. & if you play Raindance, there's better things to play then this. I'd rather play Wailord ex instead of this card.

Gyarados = thumbs down!

Modified, this thing will get rocked. Its first attack is too unreliable. And the second attack is too costly. Weak to lightning means Amphy ex will own you.

Unlimited, I'm not too familiar with this format anymore, but I would imagine this thing would rate pretty low as well. I doubt any pokemon that needs 5 energy for its attack can stand a chance in unlimited unless its in a Raindance deck. This thing just shouts out, "Please feel free to use Energy Removals on me so that I can never get a chance to attack!"

It's first attack is undercost in 2vs2. The effect is done on each defending pokemon, so you can discard 2 energy from your opponent, sweet.
